The first point of human interaction is absolute key! Building relationships with people is what will get you paid work, I found that networking and making the effort to contact people (especially face to face) significantly increases your job opportunities esp. At the beginning.
Yes, this is 100% true in my experience.
..@@jamesskintauy6773Networking doesn't always get you work 90%...of the time in my experience. In this day and age people are very fake. People wany shit for free or little to nothing.
I love videos like this cause while I’m at work , as a full time employee I could gain knowledge listening to other successful people and putting that advice into use so that my future will end up in me being my own boss. Consistency is key, and complaining won’t get you anywhere. I appreciate videos like this because it’s literally FREE info , well I’ll give a “like” for a form of payment 😂✌🏽
That’s one of the reasons I like doing these style of videos at times, because I do the exact same thing while I work!
Not the biggest photo CZcamsr out there but definitely the most influential and inspiring, especially for my work🤙🏼 love the videos man
Means a lot, thank you!
@@RanftEvan Anytime!
Agreed.
facts
I always enjoy tote videos. As a struggling CZcams’er you give me hope and motivation to keep trying.
Not sure if you understand how inspiring you are. Like I didn’t even finish this video before I got out of bed and got to work and got so many things lined up just by putting the effort and being reminded that I truly can make it in this industry. A huge thanks to you man.
Bro, your style of telling a story and the composition are so simple but still holds its uniqueness. The edit of the photos are also so clean and easy to follow up. I am following you and your journey from the last year, its always pleasure to see you doing good. Love from different part of the World.

Just finished my 2nd year as a pro photog. I managed to land around 130 gigs this year which was crazy. I forgot how many I did in 21 but was nowhere close as I was still rocking a Canon M50 lol. This year I am planning on splitting this business into two separate focuses and create a second brand for the drone/commercial work that I do.
Lol same
Only photographer on CZcams that I get excited about when videos post. 💯 love the value you provide man! I’m currently transitioning from being a wedding videographer to shooting photos/videos for brands. Gotta get the snowball effect going! ⚡️💪🏽
This is straight gold you’re sharing with the world Evan
Thanks for the tips and the inspiration. It's been a blessing stumbling across your channel when the pandemic first hit. Ever since you've motivated me to pick up my camera again and be creative like I always knew I could be. God bless you and keep up the amazing work!
This advice is gold 🤙🏽everything he speaks is straight facts. Nothing comes in a little time. It takes years and years of grinding.
I appreciate hearing this perspective out there man. Super real & down to earth.
Great video Evan! Thanks for sharing your knowledge 🙏🏼
You're killing it man, I love seeing that!

Thanks for sharing your knowledge like this. I’m just starting to turn my photography into a business to get way from working for another company all my life. Really helpful 🙂
Hey. I am sorry I haven't been able to watch your videos in a long time. Life decided to get in the way. I plan on doing a marathon of watching your videos this week. I appreciate the hard work. Thanks for the content.
Great video. This is very helpful man.
Perfect timing! Always love the content
Thank you!!
Great video man, thanks.
Cool Video currently in IT, good career, but not what's in the heart and not a healthy one. You have to push yourself to exercise since you sit all day. I love photography. I've been doing it for roughly 4 years as a hobby trying to grow my skills. Now I want to take it to the next level. Thanks for the Inspiration Man.
Keep it up man!
Thank you Evan.
Appreciate this video. Been following your career for a min! I reference your work with Epitome on my storyboards! Would love your opinion on working with an agency for commercial work.
Valuable tips!
Thanks for making this mate! I've had my gears and started Photography since 2008 as a hobby...I have not even earned a penny because I always do favors to friends and family...also still pretty blessed financially but...I'm starting to think that it is time to earn extra money on the side...so glad I saw your video...it inspires me! Hopefully I can start somewhere. God bless! 🙏
How did it end up any jobs yet ?
Great job 🔥🔥🔥
could you do an updated version of this but in regards to starting an llc or working as a sole proprietor.
Keep your head up and keep killin it.
👊💯
Good info.
Dude, thank you for clarifying at the beginning the total money made vs the take home. The reality of that is super useful for me as an artist who has no idea how to do money haha
Really got some value from today’s video thanks Evan! You should be a guest on my photography podcast one day! 📷👊🏼
Thank you
Good video production! Taking your own advice!
Another great video, hoping my upcoming move to Dallas / Ft Worth after years of my life being “Divorce life” upside down, hoping to reinvent myself and my creativeness!!
Another great video! I just need that first gig now… and I have no idea how to get it! 😂
Now in 4K nice!
Thanks for the video. Can you recommend a not too expensive place to print my first street photography books? And how many copies do you recommend me to start with?
Great info! I really don’t know why people hit the thumbs down button on this?
I rarely do comments. Thank you so much for this video bro! Very informative and helpful, I appreciate you (:
So to give business advice today, how much of the 6 figures is CZcams ad Rev, sponsors, merch and prints sold to your CZcams fan base from photo skills your learned while freelancing vs operating a photography business, getting paid gigs, and shooting for other people?
In 8 years the landscape for building almost any business has changed a lot, especially photography.
I would be shocked that he is including FB ad revenue in his figures. Getting to 100k in 3-4 years in a straight photography business is entirely possible with a good plan and hard work.
@@jamesskintauy6773 yes, 100%. My comment wasn’t on the possibility of someone becoming a photographer and making 6 figures. I also never mentioned Facebook, and listed 3 other sources of income that would all add up to that 6 figures. My comment was about this specific video and this specific photographer.
Please do a podcast on spotify!! Thanks
How long had you been photographing as a hobby for lack of a better word, before you landed those first clients in Atlanta? How much experience did you have editing photos at that point?
really interesting video. thanks for the share !
at what point in those 8 years you were relying solely on your business revenue to pay your bills ?
Ive been stuck on working on the business side of doing photography, creating a contract for clients, trying to figure out how much to charge, and where to go to find those clients that are willing to pay for my services (250$+) for strictly photos.
You can tell everyone in here is a photographer by their profile
I been full time for 7 months it’s so hard bro exactly to get new gear I’m struggling doing this but I’ll keep go I don’t wanna do anything else
Is it bad I always thought ‘6 figure’ was ‘600,000’ and above? That makes more sense now, thank you for clarifying that for me.
CZcams videos with useful information on how to be succesful typically have a low view count. It shows how much people are truly dedicated to their work to become successful. We're just a small community of people really putting in a lot of work into our dreams.
evan youre the goat🔥🔥🔥 question!!! - i have the xpro 2, is it worth upgrading to the 3?? thank you
I’m not 100% sure, it’s been a while since I used both of those cameras!
I’d stick with the 2 it’s a great camera. Spend the money on lenses, workshops or paying models, assistant, travel to do personal shoots to grow your portfolio
How do you feel about doing freelance work for free -- but in hopes of networking and creating fruitful relationships?
Thanks man. I've been telling mu wife my goal is 6 figures 6 years for my photography
Ranft is like your uncle that you want to hang out with but your too scared coz he's too chill for you
I’m going to just start bringing my camera everywhere I go and start airdropping flyers I make to random people with my information on it
What do you do when a client is not blown away by the photos you took for them even-though they know your style and have seen you portfolio before booking you?
This is actually a great question that I haven’t seen anyone answer. I wish Evan would see this one
It may not be so much you but them they may be insecure on how they looked in the photos I always send my clients the raw photos and let them choose images they like as opposed to me picking them out a lot of clients can have unrealistic expectations they show you a reference of Rihanna but look like Freddy Krueger we edit what we can we aren’t magicians lol hope that helps a bit
This feels like alot of work tbh
Well, you certainly dished out the score of photo opportunities, like going to the grocery store to clean out the shelves, but filling up a cart without knowing how to prepare or cook food is about par as all those photo named opportunities without first knowing how run a business or to use a camera to translate creativeness for clients will be doomed. Of course, making any kind of money in photography is not clear profit, even with six figures, one can still go bankrupt by overextending one's overhead in debt. Growing a photography business is a slow process, and there is good information on many CZcams channels that will help guide the aspiring photographer develop and focus in key genres. May not get rich, but the joy and love of photography will be often the root of it all. Trust me.
Im 42, started videography when I was about 12. Started paid work when I was 16 filming skateboarding/bmx and making selling footage/films for skate brands. My first year when I was 17 brought in £66.000 now a lot of that was because I had been in the industry and skated all my life so knew people to get me the work and my best mate was sponsored by Vans so I was just travelling and filming year in year out. Apart from 2020 because I fully stopped everything for Covid and just chilled that year when I was 17 was my lowest income year. I have no social media to speak off, I don't sell prints/books/bullshit luts and presets/trash merch. What I do is pretty simple: in 2005 I switched to a single contract that I made for all clients, when I get hired or someone want's something done I literally sign a contract to say that the person/business owns everything I do even down to the the media storage. They have 100% rights and effectively I NDA my work, but, here's the thing, I don't need to use anything I take. I don't care for prints, galleries or an online presence all I care for is money so when a client asks about my terms and I tell them how it is they pretty much love it and sign. The upside for me is I can charge a lot more initially the downside is I can never make money from anything I do other than the initial pay.
It work's really well for me as I mostly do extreme sport and mma stuff but real estate has been a big earner especially with drone work (M600 with a cinema cam on it). Probably not for everyone as to be honest I don't 'love' videography or photography and I don't have any attachment to my work really, I'm just in it for the $$$ and it's something Ive done all my life so it's easy money. Maybe someone might think it's a good idea for them to set something up similar.
I'm making 2 million a year! Pesos, that is.
"Every time I open twitter and see a tik tok photography video I lose all the energy in my body." What changed? 😊
Not sure if you are the cleanest human alive or just film exclusively from hotel rooms
It's pronounced 'neesh', not nitch...... Just sayin 😜 Vids are great tho
People will be kicking themselves in few weeks if they miss the opportunity to buy and invest in Bitcoin as it's retracing.
Yeah My first investment with Mr Williams earned me profit of over $25,530 US dollars ever since then he has been delivering
My first investment with Mr Williams gave me the assurance that has made me invest without the fear of losing, I got four of my friends involved with him already
I'm from the UK 🇬🇧 and my colleagues gave him a try and it has been good returns of our investment, Thanks Mr william🇱🇷
I've got 12th winning thanks to Mr william he's really the best, I've made £16,400 in 18 days working with him
@@loganjacob4103 Really y'all know him? I even thought I'm the only one he has helped walk through the fears and falls of trading
Your photo business will soon be making 7 figures
i wish i earn 500$ a month
Three ads in the first five minutes of the video?! Of course you're making six figures - by wasting viewers' time.
6 figures a year , you mad , try 2k a year 🤣🤣🤣
More click bait. You promise things that will never happen. I've seen this type of video on here before and will no doubt see it again. If you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem. Glad to be rid of you!!!
Nah it's legit. It just depends on if you're willling to do both video and photos, where you live, how saturated your area is with other competitors, skin color yes racism is a possibility, and how you market your skills
Never happen for you maybe. There are people making 6 figures off ASMR lol, anything is doable
Bizzznesss and JAAABS, Whats up You'alllll its your BOiiiiiiiiiiyyyyy ;)
