    This guy is calm and spots negative or incorrect behaviour on the instant so he is able to correct any poor behaviour at that very moment. . This is the skill that makes a good dog trainer.
    Some people do t fit or train Halti s correctly and if you don't this can hurt a dog. Seriously if you snap a dogs head while he moves his head quickly! This is the same for most training collars on the market.
    Halti"s are the best for sure for training a pulling dog, but it MUST be researched by the owner well before using!

    A good instructional video on head halter fitting. I don't think there is any need to teach a dog to "heel" in a formal competition obedience regime. Most pet owners just want a loose lead and that is what I would be aiming for. It is very difficult for any creature (human or dog) to walk at your side for any length of time. There is definitely a place for head halters used correctly. Sadly we are seeing too many trainers (old fashioned compulsion or alpha style) using them as a correction device where they spin the dog around in a circle. That's definitely not what a head halter was intended for.

    What size should I get for my Border Collie Labrador Mix? He drags me everywhere especially petstores, the vet and other places where other dogs are, cats, cars. I need this.
    Im having to apologize to every woman, man and child for him jumping up on them.
    He wants to play with everyone and tries to herd children and Chihuahuas.

      Medium is a great start...definiitely not Large

    • @LittleMissRaeRae69
      @LittleMissRaeRae69 Před 2 lety

      Without even seeing your dog, I highly suggest you get a size large. I had gotten a medium for my 30 lb husky, and she actually needed the large because the large is the only one that's good for Long nose dogs. Even if the dogs head is small, the cheek straps are much too short on the size medium. I can tell the size medium is designed for medium sized short nose dogs and small size long nose dogs, but both medium and large long nose dogs are going to need a size large

    Okay last month we bought this product, well the newer version, and it does not work at all. My pit bull pulls on me everyone with that lead on and well yea. It doesn’t work and I’ve made sure I’m using it correctly and I am but simply doesn’t work.

      Alyssa Dufresne retractable leads are terrible for dogs that pull but I walk a dog that's extremely well trained and I walk him on a retractable leash simply to give him the freedom when its not appropriate to have him off his leash.

    • @nataliejensen7524
      @nataliejensen7524 Před 6 lety +4

      I believe retractable leads are about to be outlawed in South Australia, due to injury risks. More due to irresponsible owners walking along oblivious that fido has just strolled across the road. True story.
      If owners could be more attentive I'm sure retractables wouldn't be a problem.

      @@griffinsonjupiter My dog`s blind and the retractable gives him the freedom he needs as he can`t really be off lead in most places. The owner must learn the rudiments of how to use a retractable for example letting out your dog 5 yards in front of you on the pavement is stupid should he dart to one side he will find himself in the middle of the road, should a car pass by, bye bye doggy. So use the retractable intelligently.

    Looked good but despite getting the correct size (M) for our Labrador, the nose strap just pulls off after a very short time and she chews on it! Never yet found a head collar where this doesn't happen

    • @emj2782
      @emj2782 Před rokem

      I’ve heard that the ‘2 posh 2 pull head collar’ (in the UK) has been effective for some when others have not been, it’s quite new - I think. A trainer once said as all dogs and handlers are different, there are many different head collars; gentle leader, gencon, dogmatic, canny collar, 2 posh 2 pull and many more worldwide..
      My 9 month old are still working through with the halti for now but I know it’s the positive reinforcement training with it that will make it work long term and to be eventually without it. It’s not easy though 😆.

    I think it's real cool you had horses in your video, but you were holding your hand too close to the horses head. It needs to have about a half an arms length of slack unless you're asking them to do something like back up..
