Got the F3 last October coming from the F1 that I used for 3 years. I really appreciate the value of having a reliable phone with specs that will last me for 3 years even more. Fast and snappy considering the 120 hertz amoled screen and the chip that is stable in gaming and yes it does not throttle like the 888 and Gen 1. Eversince I started using these so called flagship killer I totally forgot about the flagships, just download Gcam and your are all set.

Been using my f3 for one year and because I don't like MiUI that much I immediately rooted it and installed ArrowOS. Now I'm rocking ArrowOS 12 which is the same rom from the pixel 6 and I have never experienced that much smoothness on a phone!!! It's just amazing! ah the f3, my favorite phone, the hardware is dope for the price i payed 280 euros for the 8/256 vers, the overall experience is dope as long as u keep in mind the cheap price, so u gotta be able to stomach the sacrifices they've made '' no real proximity sensor and the average camera '' but it got kinda fixed with the updates '' the proximity issue'', but to get the best out of the phone you gotta use some roms, reason why is because the global MIUI is kinda shitty compared to the Chinese Miui, also slamming some aosp roms makes the phone a lot lot better than running miui, as a xiaomi fan '' hardware wise " i really like the phone and been using it as a daily driver for 6 months now, i'am happy with it

Used the F3 for 6 months before handing it over to my wife, I loved it and was very satisfied with it. Then I recently bought a brand-new 8T for my personal use and I'm loving it, the OS is basically the reason why I bought the 8T and decided to use it as my daily phone.
Before, I thought getting the best and latest is a must but nowadays, smartphones are so boring and powerful that you don't need to get the latest one. the last year's flagship is already capable of performing daily tasks. So it is better to get a last year's flagship or a midrange phone with a flagship processor to save money.
so think twice in spending big amount of money for the latest phones and assess if that is something worth it in the long run. Flagship phones tend to depreciate a bit faster than midrange phones.
Also, Dave2D said it the same as you said it, benchmark should not be something to base a smartphone but instead a real world usage. Making sure that it could run all the apps and tasks you want to, that enough says it is powerful already.

Phones from Poco are really good, the only thing to do is get rid of the bloatware the moment you open box. Tweak some settings related to "recommendations". And you are done. UI is okay just don't use the built in apps like Music. Install 3rd party apps.
Will be a far superior experience if you just install a minimalist custom ROM based on stock Android. The hardware is really good for the price.

I got the Poco F3 of the mi UK site for 180 quid, the higher storage model as well it's not an expensive phone even in the UK and it's running Android 12 and miui 13,the Snapdragon 870 is most likely the wiser choice out of all the current high end snapdragons as it may not be as powerful as the current hero's the 888 and gen 1 but it's more stable and doesn't heat up or lose continuous performance trying to chase apple chips in benchmarks,it has stamina and performance and the camera in this Poco the main cam is fine it's not rubbish as some say it's just a fine 12 meg camera,I keep the refresh rate at 60 as I think these fast refresh rates are a poor choice as they hammer battery and performance and the benefit is small in real world use, plus the longer a phone lasts the less electricity we use which reduces our carbon footprint and this phone is good for 8-10 hours screen time with adaptions made like lowering the refresh rate and using WiFi whenever possible and turning off 5g as it's just not needed.

Protip: I would HIGHLY urge you to cover custom rom's. Xiaomi, by extension poco, have great custom rom support. Because they provide you the tools to install a custom rom like mi unlock and mi flash. Basically fixes all the software issues you speak of. With gcam, you can enable 4k60.
I use a poco x3 pro. Sd860 is capable of 4k60 video. Slapped on gcam and I got 4k60, better low light, better pictures, etc. With arrow os, I got rid of adds, all bloat, got more privacy, got even more stable performance, got better updates (my poco x3 pro is already on june security patch on android 12.1. Lets see how many flagships match that speed of updates).
My point is, we're techies. We're more than capable of tweaking a poco f3 pro and slapping on custom roms if it means we get much better software. And combine that with the phone's low price and good hardware, you're looking at flagship user experience at 1/4th to 1/5th the price
