When you talk about discernment of prayer over the loss of your mom, it made me think of a time when I was fourteen and on my first mission. I prayed over the health of my dad. He had MS; he was in a wheelchair. It was bad. I prayed that God would heal my dad and keep him safe. I was so angry at God for not fixing my dad. It took about thirty odd years for me to realize that while he did not “heal” my dad. My dad lived thirty plus years with MS. It was once he died that I realized God did answer my prayers- but dad and I did not use our time well. My reason for writing this is sometimes we learn his purpose decades later. I feel your grief and I know that you are wholly and completely Loved. ❤

I am creating my first prayer/study journal this year :) I mean I have "journaled" through my faith walk before but never actually have a space for my journal (something I can constantly go back to to see a "year" in prayer/bible study).
I watched your video and immediately bought this book and I just received it. I cried when I opened it because it was so beautiful that they prayed over it and put the date they prayed on a card with a verse which means so much to me. I got the dark green linen cover and its beautiful. Thank you for this video!

Ohhh! That is a great idea about putting page numbers to correspond to where you took notes on the book you read. I am going to incorporate that into my next Growth Book!

Exactly! I was thinking that as I was watching. My brain just works that way like a squirrel going from topic to topic so other faith journals are too structured for me and don’t work. This one seems so cool!

I absolutely loved this video and had to order a growth book! I think the small bits of structured area (like the table of contents) but the overall unstructured-ness of the rest of the book feels like it will be great for how my brain works! 🎉

So so encouraging and so many ideas! Thank you for sharing this. I’ve loved the idea of the growth book but it seems so intimidating - until now. Seeing how you’ve used it in so many different ways makes it feel like a completely doable tool/resource!
Awe thank you! Definitely don’t be intimidated! There’s no rules for how you must use it. Take notes and write things down and use the growth guides and sections when and how it makes sense to you!

I remember seeing the original review when you had just received it and before you started writing in it ✍🏼 I loved this review after you had finished writing in it. Now I really want one !!! I’m starting life group at church tonight and I signed up for the leadership life group. And I’m so excited for it that I want to order the John Maxwell leadership Bible and get a special journal for taking notes and special things for this season of life group. I recently purchased the MIDORI notebooks (2) for bible journaling they should be arriving in a few days. However, I luckily ran across this video at work and listened to it throughout the day. lol -I guess I get the runners emoji symbol!! My Growth Roots Co journal is arriving this week by Tuesday. Honestly I’m praying that it comes tomorrow so I can make my leadership life group the first entry in it. I ordered the Lagoon color and some post it notes. I’m so excited for it to arrive.

I use a wet fountain pen and it doesn’t bleed. Only thing I’ve found is stamp ink like distress and archival bleed to the other side. I’d use pigment ink if you use stamps. I love love mine though.

Thank you! Yes my growth book is essentially my faith journal / war binder; my old war binder is pretty much documentation now of that season in my life 💛

I didn’t even realize that the flower and the word “abide “ wAs something you added. I would have been cool if the coffee stain was on the pages and not the cover. What kind of gel pen did you use on the linen cover?
Just a white gel pen and used my foil quill pen to add the gold details
What is the blue pen you used? Love the vibrant hue. 🙂
Probably a mild liner highlighter or a “le pen” brand fine liner

Thank you! I think it’s fine to listen to any church sermons on a regular basis but always recommend being plugged into a local church with people who can be an in-person community for you.
I lost her in September 2021. I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s so hard to lose our moms 💛

I have a really old handed lettering video here on my channel that might help. Varying styles and sizes and colors of what your writing helps to give it more interest. And practicing hand lettering (an art form) helps to improve your handwriting. There’s lots of free practice sheets on the internet
I really need to find a church like yours. Can you share your denomination?
The church I go to is nondenominational but the network is called Acts 29. They have churches all over and you may have one near you; you can look on their website 💛
