this is great to keep the engine bay cleaner and for anyone that lives in an area that uses lots of salt during the winter.
Hell yeah brother! Sweet job :-) Not that it really matters but as I mentioned in my comments in Ep.291, I used the shield from the Golf GTE (not sure if ever sold in NA?), which carries part number 3Q0 825 236 (so without the "C"). The GTE version has a few extra vents for cooling of the oil pan. The one without the vents as you have is more intended for diesel engines. But I don't think it will make a lot of difference. I will send a few pics by mail, it might trigger some new mod ideas.... sorry about it ;-) cheers buddy.
i might stop there, as i work on the car so much i don't want to have to remove tons of shields each time
@@LastHumansGarage That's indeed a good point, it's quite annoying to have to remove and reinstall them shields all the time.. I promised myself not to tinker with the exhaust anymore, then it's okay..
What’s your thoughts on the belly pan as you’ve had it for some time now ? I need to get something for peace of mind and was going to go with the Alltrack, but after seeing this, this maybe the way to go based off price and ease of installing.
@@LastHumansGarage thanks. I think I may go to this direction as it’s easier than doing the Alltrack and will also provide protection that I don’t get today.
Here is the part number for the OEM splash shield screws. P/N: WHT000729A. On my TDI, It has the same splash shield but it came with sound insulation pre applied. So if you want an easy mod, you can try adding some high temp sound insulation and see if it helps lower road noise.
thanks! i may order those bolts, we'll see. but i could dynamat that thing.. although i dont see it being much quieter.
ahh nah.. those bolts are $5 each.. i dont want to spend $15 on 3 bolts which have locktite.
lol, i must have been at a super bad site last time.. after searching again i found them for a couple bucks each and ordered them up.
I've never seen this version of that splash shield before. Must be an more recent revision. The old ones looked less flimsy and had sound isolation pre applied. Tho the worst part for me with the old revisions is that they dont have that cut for the dogbone mount
i wouldnt think that insulation down there would make any noticable difference. i was thinking of dynamatting it..
Why couldnt vw do this from factory.
Much better protection and as you said for the air flow too.
Because they are stupid . There is so many things like this that was cut out of the NA models. So dumb.
My 2010 jetta TDI had similar cover, if sucked having to take it every time to change oil.
@@LastHumansGarage no not alot, every 6k. It was just a hassle , rocks, dirt and crap falling on you. I do like the extra protection though. Enjoy! Cheers
Have the same on my wagon. Plenty of protection. I think I'm who recommended it? I can post the VW bolt part no. if you want it for those rears.
The 3 bolts for the back are part no. WHT000729A got mine with the splash shield from ECS
Before you even put the screws in i was thinking putting the odd one in the middle lol, OCD.
3 new screws coming. i can't stand the thought of mis-matched bolts.
Hey Mark or anyone that might know. Is this also covering your oil pan completely?
i never got a good view? i think it does.. ya.. it has to.. cuz the 3 bolts at the back go to that crossmember, way past the oil pan.. i mean thats why i got it...
Hmm think it will fit a 2017? ECS site says it’s only for Jetta
2017-2018 GTI should be the same. See if you have the same 3 bolt holes i have.
I just installed the same one today 👍
WHT000729A bolt part number $ 1.06 from VW
I’m surprised no carbon fiber, ah the good Ol days
for an undertray?? that would be the silliest product of all times..
@@LastHumansGarage so true but I’ve seen guys create them for their rides. Mostly guys creating show cars or had more od daddies money than brains😂
This is NOT the one from the alltrack, correct?
@@LastHumansGarage the link you posted says it’s for a jetta and I’m finding forums that say that there are 3 oem underbelly trays and the alltrack one is built like a tank and has foam inside
@@samihamady8569 there is.. i almost ordered the middle tray today. but its super hard to get, and is not available in the usa at all
@@samihamady8569 im sure the alltrack one is better. this is perfect for a GTI tho.
@@LastHumansGarage i know this is way better than stock but if you’re spending money on an oem+part, may aswell go for the alltrack one that can take a missile lol
This is good for about a month then the pan will start sagging in the middle
actually, its perfect 2 years later and fits my next car. you got a fake.. lulz
And this is stiff it's not flimsy tired of spending money on just a stupid belly pan
If you are looking to purchase the correct 3 OEM bolts for the rear of the shield. Here you go
WHT000729A
thanks, i have a set coming.
