I just saw this on a whim on Netflix, and it was a surprisingly accurate depiction of young love. First you want nothing to do with someone, and then over time, it...changes. You have no idea why, but it does. 😂
I also like when their isn’t a kissing scene because that’s realistic too. Their KIDS so there doesn’t really have to be one

when you initially think they seem "young" then realise it's bc every teen show/movie casts 30yr olds as highschoolers and actually this movie did it right 😭😭😭
Yes, the leads were 14 and 15 when the film was released. In the book they were supposed to be 11 and 12 by the end. Movie doesn't imply that, but looking early teens was good enough.

They played this movie at school camp. I honestly thought it was gonna be a soppy cliché love story, but it was so much more. It was really amazing, I'm so glad they showed us this because it has been added to my list of favourite movies.

this film really represents my feelings as a teenager when my first love when someone approaches. The best thing about this film is seeing two sides between boys and girls and the interaction between bryce loski and juli baker makes this film alive. I watched this a million times!
never even heard of this before, just watched it on Hulu and man is it nice to not be let down for a change. what a great lesson for younger people to understand you never really know what other people are going through. and what a sweet little story and coming of age.
This should be called a modern day classic

I have seen this maybe 5 or more times. But I still cry every single time. One of my favorite movies of all time.
Flipped is genuinely a great Movie the absolute immersion in the period was simply brilliant. We all understand that acting is make believe but this was like opening a time capsule. The diffused nature of the cinematography gave it such an authentic feel and the set pieces were simply perfect.
It had such an understated feeling to it as if Rob Reiner wanted the innocence of the two leads to be the focus of the action but in an almost abstract way?
Rob Reiner has directed some simply brilliant movies in his career but despite this being way less successful box office wise Flipped is a genuine gem of a movie that anyone wanting to feel better about themselves and the world should watch again and again.
Come on, Bryce's "brilliant blue eyes" were one of the most emphasized phrases of the book. It's just like the phrase "You have your mother's eyes." from Harry Potter (his mother's eyes were blue too) Couldn't they at least gave him blue contacts or something?
Well, for example, in Harry Potter books, Harry's eyes are green, but Daniel Rascliffe's are blue. And he said that his eyes didn't tolerate contacts at all. Maybe something like that happened here lol

The author of this book is absolutely fabulous. She visited my school and was pretty darrrn awesome.
Best movie I ever seen. This is love in most pure and innocent form, rare feeling in these days when matter counts most than feelings.
For me this is love, but there are so many other things that are taken for love but aren't, when i talk about love this is how i see it, define it.
I read this book in middle school. SO relatable. This movie is a PERFECT adaptation of the book. I rewatched it recently, and it's like I reread the book. Realistic, moving, beautifully done. It's an accurate portrayal of young/first love/crushes, and the fact that the actors were the actual age of the characters makes it better. Love from start to finish. It has a special place in my heart.❤

Haha ikr, but when you account for inflation it's A LOT. The Basket Boys poster said the year was 1963 (in the movie), so $50 was worth roughly $440 back then

I know it's not perfect but of all the movie adaptations that I've watched, this one is the best! Especially the script! It's like really reliving the book.... but they should've included the part when Bryce asked if he likes the guy... not just suddenly attempting to kiss her. That's the part of the book that made me go tingly in love, but they've skipped it!
I love movies like this, even after years i still rewatch it. Its been my favorite movie. Kids played by kids, teenagers played by teen and adults played by adults. Movies in this generation are not as good as this one. I want a sequel

This has become one of my favorite movies of all time.
This movie has such a sweet story. I think there were a few of us who grew up in a neighborhood where we fell for a certain neighbor girl or boy, hoping for a friendship or more to last a lifetime. Where I grew up I experienced that, but living near a naval base meant that friendships could be shorter than expected when their families were transferred to another place.

It's a cute movie! I don't understand why few people like it. I don't know if it's underrated or people just don't like. I did a research on Google and it's budget was $14M but only hit $4M box office. Also, the rating is 54% rotten tomatoes. But why people!
It was a cute and charming movie, but the main problems I saw with it was how fast paced it was. There was a lot of over-narration throughout the movie. Basically it relied too much on retelling the story to you rather than showing the experience you read in the book. Some narration in the begining and then at the end would've been better.
Other problems were showing the same scenes twice from each perspective. Granted it was like that in the book, but visually it would've been better to show one perspective of a moment then continue on to the next sequence of the overall story through the other's perspective so the scenes aren't repetitive but connective.
My younger sister who's currently in middle school read the book and watched the movie, she liked both, but she complained they cut out the scene where Bryce tells his grandfather about his feelings for Julie and how he comes up with the idea to plant the tree in her yard. From the basket boys auction to calling out to Julie at her house , and then cutting straight to him planting the tree with zero context as to why/how he came up with it didn't make a whole lot of sense (unless you read the book), and I gotta say, I agree with my little sister on that one. Honestly though, we both liked the ending in the movie a bit better than the book, that's just us being biased though. The movie ending made it a bit hopeful, they would end up together than it did in the book.
I think critics didnt like it, But this movie has 7.7/10 IMDB rating which is really good, also that means people loved it.

I just spent 3 hours looking for this trailer because when I was 7 we had one of those portable DVD players and whenever I was on a road trip which we always used to go on, i watched one movie over and over again and I remember seeing this trailer so many times. it's kind of weird how such annoying things in the past make you feel good when you remembering them I the future

EXACTLY. i just finished it and i literally can't get enough of these two. This was genuinely one of the SWEETEST movies I've EVER seen. Nothing compares.

I am literally living in this movie, my friend even pointed it out. I met this one guy named Josh last year and within weeks we became good friends but along the way he stopped talking to me. I eventually stopped talking to him in the beginning of this school year. My friends are convinced he likes me secretly, only time will tell.

I love this film
I just read this book as it is a book my 11 year-old daughter's reading group has to read. The book was surprisingly good (I went into it with a bad attitude.) Checking out the trailer for the movie--looks nice enough, but I wish they'd set it modern-day. Not all sweet, coming-of-age stuff happened in the 60s. Unless you're IN your 60s.
