How to Calculate Running Total in Google Sheets

  • In this video, I show how to calculate running total in Google Sheets. With this you can create a formula that will automatically include each sequence of a cumulative sum and show the total for each value that is added.

    Having an issue, F4 does nothing as its a brightness key, and im UK so I assume I enter in £ (Locale set to UK), however that immediately invalidates the value?

    I am doing a progressive raffle and need to show only the total of that week's sales. So, I want to put in that I sold 100.00 in tickets today. On the back end, I need it to keep track of that and add it to what was brought in the week before, and then back on the front end, only show the absolute total. Does that make sense?

    Is it possible to set up the same formula but be able to insert data in the middle of the ledger and have ir recalculate balance as it is entered? For example in your example say that on March 4th there were transactions pending or the days total has not been totaled yet for some reason. The week, month watever goes on and you have the totals for those days so they are entered. Sometime later March 4th is completed. To keep it in chronological order it is inserted but balance does not update accordingly. Is there a way to simply remedy this?

    For some reason, the running total doesn't seem to work here. When I enter the code, it shows 0. I've tried it many times.

    How would you make it auto subtract from an initial total amount. For example, 5,000 balance and on a "transaction log" there is a "payment" towards the total amount and it auto subtracts from the 5,000 and now it shows the updated balance. Does that make sense? but the initial 5,000 is in one cell that continues to update as payments are made. 😭😭 #pleasehelp

    i'm trying to find a way to do running totals that work on filtered rows. as soon as you filter rows, running totals don't work (don't just run-total the filtered rows). :(

    What if you have a starting balance? So let’s say you use a starting balance of $100 dollars ?

      up for this. can you teach me? thank you? bec i need you deduct my total balance to my present ORDERS. example is i have 1000 pcs of container. and everyday i have orders so can i ask a formula for deduction like the vid above? thanks
