This one really speaks to me. I am building a Timber Frame lodge style cabin on our 1.25 acre property. I started working on it 8 years ago. It was always my dream to build our home with my own hands being a Blacksmith and Carpenter. I'm now 68 years old. I feel the pull of age slowing me down but I continue to forge ahead. It is incredibly hard work physically but that is actually a benefit! It's amazing how the human body adapts to physical labor. I am as strong (or stronger) than I was when I was in my 40's. I might be slow but I am determined and strong. The obstacle is the way. This saves on Gym membership! Haha.
Property is750 miles from our current home (a rental) Just celebrated 35 years of marriage to my wife. We've rented for 40 years in the SF Bay Area, raised a family (2 boys who are now amazing young men) We sacrificed home ownership in our younger days in order for our kids to grow up in decent neighborhoods and decent schools. It was a choice without a lot of options. I always hung onto the dream. What a journey. The greatest adventure of my life.
Congrats on 35 years of marriage! Your dedication and sacrifices for the family are truly inspiring.
I wish you continued health and wellness.
