- Despite residential fire rates falling by 30% in the last 5 years, the number of injuries and deaths from residential fires has more than doubled between 2019 and 2021. Host Steven Chia goes into homes to uncover hidden fire risks and hazards and reveals everything you need to know about how to protect yourself against a raging inferno. This episode could just save your life!
Editor’s Note: The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) has highlighted that since 1 May 2013, ‘Class C’ fires represent fires involving flammable gases, and not electrical fires. There is no classification for fire involving electrical equipment or electrical hazard as electricity itself does not burn but can cause other classes of fires.

Another excellent Talking Point production. Not just important to increase our knowledge on these topics, but very practical and helpful! Thank you CNA!
If there was ever a video to promote minimalism, this was it...👀
Building on fire can spread rather quickly if it is not fire resistance or insulated properly. Please don't place your burning candle or hot electrical devices so near to curtain, book or clothing, they can catch fire easily. Be thoughtful of your safety and neighbors, just 1 fire can kill many at once. 👋👋
Great informative production. I hope CNA will consider dubbing it into Mandarin, Malay and Tamil too so that the elderly can watch and learn how to prevent fire at home too.
I built the 3 room flat model! HAHAHA Great episode!!
this is a great programme thank you CNA never want to miss a single episode
Informative and very useful!
Good documentary! 👍 Always good to know what are the potential fire hazards in the home. Best to have a fire extinguisher at home and install smoke detector in the kitchen.
Candle already a hazard. 🤦🏻♀️ burnt on the rims.
I see the other problem in the 5 room condominium. There are two schuko/european plugs connected to the power strip but it is not grounded because of the lack of a proper adapter.
This do be helpful
There could be 6 or 8 or 10 devices plugged into a wall outlet with the help of power strips. But it’s not how many things are plugged into it but the total power draw.
could have use a thermal imaging camera to see the heat of overloading outlet
Where can I get the fire blanket? And around how much will it cost?
go shopee,cost less than 10$
14:30 Class C is no longer electrical fire. It is flammable gas.
Hi, thank you for the note. We have added a clarification in the video description accordingly.
So I guess my house is an atomic bomb at this point...
Photoelectric Smoke Alarms, Heat Detectors, CO Detectors, Beam Detectors, Duct Smoke Detectors, Tamper Switches, Water Flow Switches, Sprinkler Systems, are all components of detection systems. In the US, apartment homes, buildings, etc., will have a direct line by telephone or radio to the Fire Department, who will be directly informed if a fire situation occurs. The main Fire Alarm Control Panel will serve as the focal point for the firemen when they arrive. This video was a good intro, but as a Fire Alarm professional, they barely scratched the surface of fire detection, annunciation, notifiers, and so on. Public safety programs can also be instituted, with appropriate inducements to motivate people to join in and learn safe practices.
as long as pmd and e-bike are in the hdb, it will happen.
steven nice car!
Two approach to counter increasing HDB flats on fire:
- one is to bring about awareness on many possible indoor fire hazards towards all different races and cultural backgrounds with no way to ensure anything as it is up to individual behaviour.
- next option is for town councils to enforce strictly to ensure fire escape path(corridors, stairs, voiducts, etc) cleared as SCDF guidelines stated… this, imho, is much more workable n efficiency as time is running out waiting for the next fire to endanger more lives n destroy more homes.
did Steven really save the fire in the end?
So basically my home should have nothing?
Why does Singaporean English sentences all sound like a question?
