  • The Photographica Camera Fair was a great place to visit - so much film photography gear in one place gave me a very funny feeling, and whoever said film is dead was certainly misinformed!
Anything and everything you can imagine is here - Nikon, Leica, Olympus, Canon, Fujifilm, Minolta, Konica - plus loads more! I was tempted to buy some stuff too that I'll soon review on the channel - find out what it is in the video!
The mailbag episode will be in two weeks - sorry for the change of programme!
Many thanks to subscribers and patrons - a heartfelt thanks to you all!

Nigel, you've come up with the perfect video, one which merits watching time and time again, just in case we spot something you missed (or something we would covet ourselves - that Hexanon 50mm f1.4, in fact).

Thanks George, glad you enjoyed it! In fact, the Hexanon I eneded up with is the 57mm 1.4, the predecessor to the 50mm I thought I bought. It shoots really nicely though and is apparently descended from the Biotar. An interesting lens!

I haven't been delving into film very much because of low budget (plus I'm in the expensive process of moving,) but I'm hoping as it increases in popularity, more companies will be encouraged to release film again, bringing down the price a bit. I actually still have a fair bit of film left over from the 90's, but am still hunting for the best way to develop it once I shoot it.

And honestly I might have made the same choice if I was there. So far those concerns have prevailed when I saw them for sale online but I have a feeling it would be much harder to resist in person.

It seemed to be locked to the faulty camera, some noises took it off.didnt know it was helios44 related ,wonder if it swirls with Konica colour. didn't think the sx70 prices were to bad, mine was a fair bit more but when there seemed to be a shortage, got from America I wanted a perfect one.

Yes, L39 mount - and of course it didn't go to the moon as I said as the Soviets never got there after their massive rocket exploded on the launchpad. The camera did get into space though! A real mix of tech there - rocket engines and digital guidance systems, exotic metals, cutting edge electronics - and a clockwork camera! Very cool!

A marvel of opto-mechanics, phantastically over-engineered. I have passed two films through my Leningrad and thereafter relegated it to the fondling section of my collection. I trust you know that the camera is practically unserviceable. Once broken it will stay that way. Still, even it isn't really a user, it is a vvvery nice camera to have.

Will's In Pictures 1930's spiral bound satirical photo book about Hollywood is a treasure, and Mortensen, a world of his own, who I believe has influenced David Lynch, and who Ansel called "the anti Christ" has no peers. A friend that facilitates your photography addiction buy "lending" you cash-money while you acted conservative and deliberately brought a small amount of money. That friend just says "I can loan you the money" and then your dreams and fantasies can come true. I had a friend like that that would lend me money for stupid purchases. Its how people egg you on to do stupid stuff. In your younger days alcohol might have been the primer, and your friends hyper masculinity egging you on to do "high risk behaviours".
