A lot of unnecessary movements, and one hand always resting
on the hip. This type of Kata is nothing more than an excercise
thing, but has very little to do with actual Combat.

Isn't that generally the problem with Goju kai? Its either a dance or sparing with unrealistic rules from kendo.
