    Engine rebuilds on CZcams are some of the most precious videos on CZcams!!! I can't stress this enough!!! Wish I had this growing up in the 90's would be doing damage in the garage if I had all this content avalible. Thank you so much for the precious vids. These videos will be watched by future mechanics and hobbie mechanics and help keep wrenching alive. Please keep vids coming and never stop wrenching till you die!!!!!!!

      I have not watched all the video's was the head bolt holes tapped out? The roll lock cleaning pad removes a lot of material. Cat likes for the mill marks on the block to remain. Roll locks can remove them. I use a air sander with sand paper and remove the debris on top. Keeping the mill marks intact. Any part, head, spacer plate or block. Roll lock pads are a no no. Not saying he is bad, but
      watching me rebuild one would be a long video. As TheOtherWhiteBread0 a lot of good mechanics out there and a ton of week in
      warriors.
      Who I redo M-F.

    Love your videos as we are currently trying to learn more and more about these cat engines. Have you ever seen a split tip/cracked injector on a 2006 c7? When you turn the truck on, it fuel knocks and surges at all rpms like no tomorrow and will plume HUGE clouds of raw diesel at all rpms as well. Can't cut injectors out with cat program because it runs to bad to perform any test. No engine lights at all either. Basically the motor acts like it's dumping raw fuel either through a faulty injector or cracked tip.

      I first got exposed to torque turn as an apprentice in 1970 checking the rod bearings on 13 651b's, the engines came with pal nuts but the new spec was torque turn and it was a long time before I was exposed to using an impact wrench. And if you're talking about a bolt that would be torqued over 400lbs,
      that saves a lot of work. Especially on heavy equipment.

      Authorized dealer you can get a OPT, with WARRANTY up to four years. If you think a expensive shop/mechanic cost to much. Hire a cheap shop/mechanic and see how much it cost on the second repair. Because the first one was worthless.
      We have one right now that a mom and pop shop built two years ago and now has a spun rod bearing. A OPT would have covered
      this repair parts and labor with a min. charge. Now this guy has the entire bill to look at. I don't care what you say Fram said it all.
      Pay ME now or pay ME later.

    I have an acquaintance that had his C-15 rebuilt by Cat, within 38000 miles of having it put back in he had to be in the shop about 4 times with many problems including having the engine blow on him again. From what I understand Cat won't repair the engine anymore, even tho he did buy the Plat warranty from what I understand. Basically he didn't have a truck to run with so his business lost the battle and bank took it back, not wanting to fund his truck anymore. It was a 5EK BTW, why would Cat do this to him and what should he do do you think??? Thanks for the video's and again, best wishes to you and your new born child!!!!!!

    • @AdeptApe
      @AdeptApe  Před 7 lety

      +Gary ClarkII Without having all the facts it is hard to say. The Platinum kit should cover that engine depending on what warranty he got, usually four years, from the date of the rebuild. Did he do anything to hot rod the engine or mess with the ECM? I've never seen Cat not cover a valid warranty, is this an actual Cat dealer or like a Kenworth dealership?

      +Nicholas Winbigler I've got 3 videos that cover that, they should hopefully answer most of the questions. You can make good money and have fun, but it really depends on the shop you end up in.

    • @AdeptApe
      @AdeptApe  Před 7 lety +1

      +MrLa55cr Well being an operator isn't going to get much exposure to wrenching, depending on the job of course. So the hiring company will pretty much look at you as an apprentice, but if you have a good reference from the last company you worked for that should give you an edge over someone with no previous experience.
