The look on Mae's face while shooting the 1903 air service, the change is priceless. This is great, this is getting monotonous, this is exasperating, crap this is beginning to hurt... Finally.
@@jaredthehawk3870 The Pedersen Device looked unwieldy for trench conditions, but in effect it turned the rifle into a semi-automatic - I wonder why it didn't catch on.
Actually this musical genre is literally called "Kaiser-hanging Songs." There are about 200 songs that were recorded in 1917-1919 that are in this vein.

The British held an election with "Hang the Kaiser" as a key slogan. There was no doubt a similar sentiment in the USA. But eventually there were bigger problems to deal with.
5:05 When the '03 Air Service came up, I thought about how firing 10 rounds out of a No.4 standing can get tiring by the 7th or 8th round and just went, "That looks like it'll be quite a workout" and of course Mae's pause was ample confirmation. Happy birthday, America!!
Mae deserves a Master of Arms insignia or medal for being an expert on just about every cartridge based firearm on the planet. Mae she ever keep shooting!

Cool! What's that weird slide operated handgun at the end? I seem to have never heard of it before. Probably a inconsequential weapon without any real merits.

In the years since you guys started this show and the hate you guys got for not showing off bubbas favorite pistol i enjoy the fact you air it on independence day 😂
Nice job juxtaposing the Air Service & Pedersen! That bout with the Air Service HAD to leave a mark. And, cute way to show the 1917 Enfield held one more than the 1903. Kinda perplexes me that Remington wasn't allowed to build a 1917 derivative for WWII rather than 03A3's, given that Remington was already tooled up for their Model 30.
Because the US Army used the Springfield 1903. The big difference from WWI is that there wasn't the same time pressure as they were setting up production of a secondary arm during peace time (the M1 was already in large scale production and equipped most of the Army).
That 30-06 Chauchat has to be the most disorderly military weapon since the Neanderthal's club. There's more random violence headed roughly upwards, downwards, backward, and side to side than is headed downrange at the target. It's like a slow-motion explosion.
Mae has the best job ever. I have only seen one pedersen device in person but never more than one mag and never ammo much less brass. I am kicking myself for not buying a 1897 trench shotgun 20 years ago when they weren't as popular and expensive. Happy birthday america and thank you to all who have served to keep America the best place to live in the world.
My grandfather had a S&W M1917 in his collection that I thought was awesome due to being an Indiana Jones fan. My mother sold it after he passed despite my pleadings for her not to.
