This is why Sub > Dub. Christopher Sabat is a great voice actor, but as a producer or director, he needs to FUCK OFF.
A lot of the liberties and changes the dub is taking with Super is ALL up to and decided by Sabat. He's a fucking idiot.
And for the record boys, Jeren isn't even powered up for a serious fight.
Let's just say. If jiren really wanted to.... he could take EVERYBODY out of this tournament... if he wanted to.
Seriously. Like 100% Wh do people not actually realize this stuff. To a lot of people, Jeren ain't shit because they already KNOW that Goku will end up winning. That fact is what makes CBS less good than DBZ. In the first few episodes of DBZ we see Goku get just utterly outclassed at every turn. Hell he even dies in that fight . Then we see him train and just jumiliate Nappa so we think Vegeta's gonna go home crying, right?? No; Vegeta was so far superior to Goku it was funny Goku still considered the winner but he ws completely broken afterwards.
By contrast, in DBS - Goku barely ever works up a sweat. He has moments of a tough opponent, but nothing ever really like how He had his ass handed o him by Raditz.

I like your point about freiza being the ultimate villain. Jiren happens to be somebody our universe needs to fight for a chance at survival but its not as if Jiren is a 'bad guy' - if you were in the 11th universe him and the pridetroopers are the good guys afterall. I almost feel like Jiren doesnt even want to harm unless absolulety needed- if he wanted he could straight up just tank nearly all the guys off the platform with ease but chooses to meditate instead almost like a 'wake me up again if you really need me' so its hard to view him as a villain. its more so just somebody who stands in the way of us surviving. Frieza actually takes pleasure in killing and has the potential to be infinitely stronger than we see. i think the show said he only trained 4 months to achieve his gold form. imagine if he trained 10years for ex
Nobody ever doubted the power of jiren but this episode really showed just how OP he is. hit went toe-to-toe with gokublue kaix10 and didnt even lose that, ended up doing better than ultrainstinct goku by actually landing a blow trapping him in time yet still lost. jiren didnt even sweat. at this moment you realize no other mini battle really matters compared to the might of jiren

In terms of power if Frieza trained for 10 years straight he'd absolutely easily destroy Jiren. His learning curve is ridiculous. It took Goku, the fighting protege of an already skilled and high potential race of warriors, decades to achieve super saiyan 3. And then he needed god ki to reach ssj blue. And here we have Frieza, who was less than a super saiyan, who trained for 4 months and reached ssj blue levels of power...10 years of training would obliterate Jiren EASILY no question.
In terms of narratively Frieza is THE dragon ball villain. He's the antithesis of Goku. He's the perfect villain for a story like dragon ball. He's by far the best villain in the franchise.
@@appledough3843 I feel like Frieza's improvement wouldn't be linear. There would be a point where his training gains would slow down and he wouldn't be consistently improving like how Saiyans do. Also, Frieza is naturally strong like Saiyans; he's a mutant of his own race and the son of another, already strong mutant. Frieza definitely would become VERY fucking strong, but I'm not sure about Jiren levels of strong.
Also, Jiren is not a good guy in the TOP. The only reason he's in the Pride Troopers is so he can get stronger. He doesn't actually care about saving people or anything like that, he just has an unhealthy obsession with strength. Only after the ToP does he become a somewhat good guy.
@@appledough3843 it doesn't work like that. His training for 4 months was to get him to Goku's level, it doesn't mean if he trained like a month more he'd beat everyone. It was just a way to get him up there with the gods

This arc has no villain really, its just the link to the next stage of power, exposing us to the angels, power of UI, etc etc. The next arc, will have a true villain, Moro! He is as evil as Kid Buu but with intelligence. Wish I could watch with yall!

Hitting Jiren while in the Time Prison would do literally nothing. He’s frozen in time, unable to move even with outside intervention.
Remember that Freiza is counting on Goku to revive him. He may hate Goku to death but deep down he knows he can trust Goku to keep his side if the deal
I find it funny how people are surprised that Jeren humiliates Hit, when Goku has proven Hit to be a lesser opponent and Jeren has so far schooled Goku at every turn, except when Goku went Ultra instinct. Jeren's power is so far beyomd Goku's it's like season 1 Goku vs Kid Buu.

I forgot how much they wrote themselves into a corner with Hit existing so they needed Jiren to have Random Healing and Time-Shattering Abilities that he Never Uses Again, becomes even worse when we get his explanation (or lack there of) on how he got this strong to the point he could "Transcend Time" in Vados' words... 😂
Also Hit's insane decision to tell the U6 Saiyans to go on fighting leaving him there to hold Jiren for the whole tournament instead of just asking them to Push Him Off while he's frozen, but then we wouldn't have a good Conclusion to the Arc of course.

I think it’s unfair to compare DB to newer anime’s. I think if u take the original DB series and dbz up until the end of the frieza arc it’s definitely the best anime ever. After that it became more than a show and literally changed television forever. It was only supposed to last up until the cell arc but executives got involved, even in that arc itself. I ain’t mad at it tho I love the show

Frieza did not exist to push Goku to the next level. He has a long political history with the saiyan race, wiped out their entire population, killed Bardock's father, and had the goal to wish for immortality with the Dragon Balls. Not to mention, he developed a strong prejudice against saiyans after Goku defeated him and Trunks killed him.
There is much more to his character than Jiren, who simply wants to get stronger and stronger. Also, Frieza has a distinct malicious personality, whereas Jiren is just a plain musclehead.
