I am sure it will play CD-R's as its newer. I have found most old cd players to play a cd-r aslong as its a good quality brand and burned at a low speed.
Simply there's no match for technics , a lot of features and super fast access time to any track ., i love technics!
Thanks, I do like the brand, although their innovation dropped off in the mid-late 90s. I also love Panasonic plasma tv's

which one has the better sound? I suppose the Pioneer as my 777 sounds thin,technical, and has no Prat, or I should change the caps.

I prefer the Pioneer, better dynamics but less natural
The stable platter players from pioneer always sounded a like odd to me. I would go for the technics if I had a choice

Hi sorry for the late reply, I don't own any cd-r's so don't know. Tbh think they both sounded just as good, I've sold them now😥
The sl-p770 (older) plays verbatim cd-r's perfectly
