  • In this Light Painting Tool Tutorial I show 4 different ways to add color to your Plexiglass Light Painting Brushes. Plexiglass Light Painting Brushes are some of the more versatile Light Painting Tools around. These light painting tools are great for creating abstract light painting images, light painting portraits, light painted wings and all the orbs you can stand to make before your arms finally give out. Adding color into and/or onto your plexiglass can make your images come alive. All the different tools and technique in this tutorial work great on their own, but the magic really happens when you combine some of these colorful techniques to create unique colors and textures in your light painting photography work. Below is a list of the light painting tools that I used in this tutorial with links to all of them. Enjoy.
    Light Painting Tools in this video:
    The Plexiglass Light Painting Tools are from Light Painting Brushes:

    Transparent Color Vinyl: amzn.to/2IBZOGT
    Flashlight: Soonfire MX66: amzn.to/38dXpLL
    Wide Tip Sharpies: amzn.to/3eQTAyl
    The camera settings for most the Light Painting Photographs you see in this tutorial video were: ISO 100, F8-F10, and exposure times ranged from 10-45 seconds shooting in a completely dark studio environment.

    Thanks so much Jason for these tips, the tape and colour markers worked best for me. I use Chalkola chalk pens which works really well on the magic tape but cleans off the Plexi so easily if I miss 😉

      I don't think that I have tried the Chalk Pens yet, glad to hear they worked out really well for you! The image you posted in the FB group is AWESOME!

    I bet the feather attachment with one edge colored orange, and one face colored red would make a wicked fire brush.

    I monkeyed around trying to add colour in various ways but in the end the LLB colour filters are the easiest and simplest approach. They also work with multiple tools.

    What would work best for making a diy universal holder and for the base of plexiglass ? Thanks 😊

    • @LightPaintingPhotography
      @LightPaintingPhotography  Před 3 lety +1

      Thank you, glad you liked it. What would be best is to go to LightPaintingBrushes.com and get a Universal Connector :) Second best idea is to use some rubber hose and pipe clamps from the hardware store to make a DIY version.

    You COULD wrap it in saran wrap and THEN spray paint it... :). What would happen if you were to put a hole in the middle of one of those blades?

    • @LightPaintingPhotography
      @LightPaintingPhotography  Před 4 lety

      Yes you could, lol. A hole in the middle could also make for some really interesting effects. That is the beauty of Light Painting and Light Painting Tools the possibilities are really limitless!

      @LightPaintingPhotography  Před 4 lety +2

      I saw that, they were available when I made the video, they might have sold out of them. I have written the company to find out when they will be back up. I'll comment back here as soon as I hear back.
      UPDATE: Just got an email back and unfortunately they have sold out but should have them back up in about a week.

    💥 Can anyone share their favorite flashlight.??
    I’m looking for something with a strobe mode that I don’t have to cycle through the solid light modes to get to it.

    • @LightPaintingPhotography
      @LightPaintingPhotography  Před 11 měsíci +1

      The Soonfire MX66 flashlight is my favorite light. Its bright and affordable $40, you have access to the strobe mode by holding down the top button. The strobe is an alternating frequency. Here is the link: amzn.to/45SmqZB

    • @Jimmy_Cavallo
      @Jimmy_Cavallo Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@LightPaintingPhotography you say MX66 but the link takes me to MX 65

    • @LightPaintingPhotography
      @LightPaintingPhotography  Před 11 měsíci

      Its the same one, the listing has not been updated is my guess when I ordered from that link I received the MX66

      @@LightPaintingPhotography Thanks, bro. I just got it in the mail today and it was the MX66. I ordered it in silver but it’s a green color and I am totally ok with it. The light really is awesome and accessing the strobe mode is easy but I think as you mentioned it’s not a steady flash at the same speed.

    Love your videos. Thanks for the ideas. I have your starter set and a plexiglass shape. I like the idea of Frank's light. However, I am not on Instagram. Is there some other contact info I could use to contact him?

    • @LightPaintingPhotography
      @LightPaintingPhotography  Před 2 lety +1

      Instagram is his preferred method specifically for the RGB custom lights but you can also check out his website photoexcursion.com there is some contact info at the top of his site.
