Well studies have shown that those in positions of power- CEOs, company directors, politicians etc. are more likely to qualify as sociopaths on the Levenson scale.

As someone who lives in the US, Russell’s humor is easier to take because of the distance from the immediate consequences. I recommend Kimmel and Colbert for their takes on the chaos on our end of the pond. Hope you get some laughs! ❤

Psychopaths have a tendency to climb to the top. They're often insecure and have a need for power and control and having no conscience/empathy will do anything to climb the greasy pole and get into positions of power.
About 1% of the population are thought to be psychopaths. Amongst politicians that rises to 6%. That means statistically 36 MPs are likely to be psychopaths. And it appears most are in the current government. A staggering 25% of CEOs are thought to be psychopaths. That's why so many big corporations behave so appallingly.
CAT scans on psychopaths show little activity in their frontal lobe, the part of the brain that control your conscience and Empathy.
Basically a psychopath is the ultimate in selfishness. They only care about themselves. As long as they get what they want they don't care what harm their actions cause others.They view other people as:
i) Those useful to them. They have no loyalty though, so once that person is no longer of use or becomes a liabilty they'll throw them under the bus without a second thought.
ii) Those they can safely ignore/trample over.
iii) Those they consider a threat/obstacle to getting what they want.
Amongst the 20 personality traits listed on the psychopath test are:
- A lack of empathy/conscience/morals.
- A sense of superiority: Believing they are somehow better/cleverer than everyone else.
- They don't believe the rules/law applies to them: Rules are for lesser people, getting away with breaking the law/cheating, etc just proves they're cleverer than everyone else in their eyes.
- Superficial charm. i.e they'll turn on the charm to get what they want/dupe people, but it's only skin deep.
- Conning and manipulative behaviour: They'll say anything to get what they want.
- Pathological lying.
- Never taking responsibilty for their actions.
- Irresponsible: i.e. You can't trust them as they'll break promises, contracts, treaties, agreements, etc.
- Poor control: i.e. they respond to criticism/not getting what they want with irritablity, anger, aggression, abuse, etc. (See Johnson at PMQs, etc or Trump's Twitter)
- Promiscuous behaviour.
- Extra marital affairs. Psychopaths only care for themselves so have no loyalty. (see Johnson)
- Will often boast about how they got away with breaking the rules/law to show their superiority. e.g Trump boasting about if your famous you can just grab women by the pussy.
Psychopaths are also easily bored and tend to have short attentions spans.e.g. Trump and Boris both being famous for not reading the briefings given to them and just winging it. They also have a tendency for risk taking.
Not all leading Tories are full blown psychopaths. Some merely have serious personality disorders.😁
Unfortunately until Government Ministers, world leaders and CEOs are screened for serious personality disorders we will keep getting people like Boris, Cummings, Patel, Braverman, Rabb, Hunt, IDS, Willamson, etc, in positions of power. Not to mention world leaders like Trump, Putin, Kim Jong Un, Xi, Bolsonairo, Orban, Erdogan. Modi, Morrison, etc.
Because, at least recently, people don't vote for the actual competent politicians, but for showmen like Trump or Johnson. Voters have to carry some responsibility here, it's not like either of the flim-flam men were shy about what kind of creatures they were.
You've got to appreciate a comedian who takes the piss out of everyone's mistakes and not just what doesn't align with their personal view.
UK politics have become a joke and no matter where you stand there's nobody that anyone can feel comfortable supporting.
Speak for little england, in Scotland we have Nicola Sturgeon the best politician in UK and maybe Europe and world at moment.

Kier Starmer being panned for being boring is the ultimate burn. Brits almost never elect a boring person. They will elect absolute monsters repeatedly, however. This is the trend. Russell isn't burning the Torys, he's promoting them, even if he doesn't realize it.

And yet you yourself run a personal service company Skylarking UK Ltd with just one employee that made at least 1.2m profit in the last accounts. Rather than 50% of this going in tax, you're going to reduce your tax and your customers ER NI by paying yourself the personal allowance and then paying the remainder in dividends.
Sort your own house out and agree employee contracts with all your customers and get rid of your PSC if you're against tax avoidance.
Luckily for you the government has reduced the dividend allowance to £1000 from April then £500 from the April afterwards.
Russell isn't an employee and depending on who he does his stand up for they may not use sole traders as they don't want to be paying their tax if the person doesn't pay it.
Maybe you should learn more about business contracts.

@@davidhoward4715 This was playing devil's advocate to highlight something (PSCs) which a lot of people do and is a form of aggressive tax planning to reduce tax pad which HMRC is trying to eradicate via IR35. Glass houses and throwing stones and all that.
Zahawi who this was about is a refugee who 22 years ago co-founded a major company involved in surveys (Yougov) and the case involves tax on the sale of shares. It's unclear exactly what happened but it's likely his accountants either suggested or signed off on his tax planning but he didn't fight it when HMRC pushed back probably for political reasons. This came to bite him.
People have voted for the tories repeatedly since 2010 and are surprised at this.
