Why Pakistani people won't ever let you pay 🇵🇰

  • 🇵🇰 Pakistan is a very hospitable country. The first time you come here, it kind of blows your mind: how can almost everyone in a country not want to take money from "guests", whether it be for food, for water, or for stuff you're buying at a market? It's very hard for an outsider to comprehend, because at least for me growing up, I always wanted to work, save money, etc. The Pakistani perspective is very enlightening.
    Now, with filming these videos, I've been getting a lot of comments recently, mostly from foreigners who don't understand the culture, saying that I should insist on paying, even after they have refused 2-3 times. But these people don't realize how difficult it is to actually pay, and also the fact that it starts to get rude when they refuse 2-3 times, but I continue to ask.
    However, there is something known as "paying it forward", where you take the money someone refuses, and give it to the next person who really needs it. So that has become my motto in Pakistan. Although sometimes I can't pay people, I will always be taking that money and giving it to someone who needs it more, such as a rickshaw driver, a different shopkeeper, etc.
    On that note, enjoy the video.

    I faced the same thing when I came to the beautiful and most generous country of Pakistan. NOBODY would take money because you are nice to them BUT you have to bear in mind that these people are making 5-20$ a DAY! I started to first ask for the rate and once I bought something, I would politely leave the money in a corner of the shop whilst saying shukriya and RUN! Pakistani people are without a doubt AMAZING. Hi Cris. We are a Pakistani-American family living in NJ. Your newest subscribers and biggest fans :) We love your Pakistani videos so much that we have binge-watched most of them in a very short amount of time. You are not only changing the image of Pakistan for the rest of the world but you are also changing the image of Americans in the eyes of all Pakistanis watching your videos. Please don't think that we don't notice all your subtle acts of kindness you do on the streets of Pakistan (like inviting the guy selling flowers to share your chocolate waffle, then buying flowers from him and leaving a big tip to help him out, encouraging the young kids selling waffles, accepting breakfast invitation by a rickshaw walla, then sitting down on the floor eating it and paying for it instead of letting him pay, buying juice for the kid on the beach and then taking it to him, giving the street barber Rs. 1000 when he asked for Rs 300 only.... and many more.)
    We have been living in the US for some time and know that most Americans are as kind-hearted as you are. We appreciate your generosity and would love to reciprocate. So here is my invitation to you. Whenever you are in the NY/NJ/Philly area, come stay with us. We live in central Jersey so we are only an hour from either NYC or Philadelphia. I promise you authentic Pakistani food and your favorite Chai. Just drop me an email (khawar@aol.com).... Best Regards and keep up the good work.

    Psst.. a tip for touring during Ramadan... Take your food indoors during daylight hours. They won't get upset with you, but the practice of eating out in the open when people are fasting is generally frowned upon. If stuck outdoors, at least be discreet. Additionally, you won't find restaurants open during the day. So keep packaged food or fruits on you.

And then we listen to music because god was so hard on us during the day. So we take refuge in music right after sunset when god is not looking anymore. You should see our hypocrisy.

      Yes, in the west, one person is doing everything. In Pakistan, you go to a small bakery, you'll see 7 to 8 people, including the one that opens door for you. In a way, it is good to give employment to lot of people. Big carporations all over the world, pay a little extra but are always cutting staff and costs. In the end, you go home with all the stress of the day and worrying about your next day. In Pakistan, people laugh, talk, and have fun at the work place. When they go home, they don't say 'I hate my job'.

    • @TheDigitalGuru430
      @TheDigitalGuru430 Před 2 lety +14

      There is a whole lot of philosophy that we live by. Most employers do not sack their employees in hard times. They think God is giving them money to give it to the employees. The idea is that 'no one is taking from anyone and God has decided who will get how much in their lifetime'. When giving something for free to the guest, they believe it was guests destiny determined by God to have that food. No human can give anything to anyone, actually it is God who gives them via humans.

    Pakistanis treat all their guests like this. People who are telling you that you don't insist enough are just haters. Many shop keepers offer drinks to their customer and again that only happens in Pakistan.

      @@mysterioushermit9948 Otherwise they don't recognize you as outsiders so they'll not know you are guest. They get it by seeing camera in hand. Because in Pakistan there are many varieties of people 😂 many people looks like these westerners so it becomes hard to find that they are Guest unless or until someone tell us or have camera in hand
