Poondy is one of the famous places for church. The church is said to be a minor Basilica as it has the statue of Mother Mary from Lourdes, A relic of Jesus crucified cross and the church is built in Gothic and French architecture.
Poondi Matha Basilica is situated amidst of Cauvery and Kollidam rivers.
Joseph Beschi who's called as Veeramaamunivar built the church and later it was renovated by Rev.Fr.Xavier Lourdes.
Now, the church is with superb look and the pilgrims throng to adore the Lord and request Mother Mary to plead for them.
Poondy Church is situated in a scenic area and has wide parking arena, well cleansed bathrooms, superbly maintained residing rooms, Cooking areana and Children's park.
