I took the HP Academy course, good intro to CAD. Cannot wait for my scanner to arrive.
Good to know and let me know what you think of the scanner
Mines on the way. Canât wait to get started!! Nice video.
Let me know what you think of it once you get it. đđ
Howâs it going ? Is it good?
Thanks homie
Another cool toy!
Great video and this is the exact reason I bought mine. I was disappointed that the luxury kit did not come in the hard case like all of these preproduction models. The software definitely leaves a lot to be desired but it works ok.
What stuff are you scanning
@@randymay I havenât had much of a chance to scan car stuff but Iâve been scanning things like drill batteries and statues to see how well it works. I use professional structured light scanners at my job but wanted my own scanner for little projects here and there. With the professional scanners I like that I am able to perform âregistrationâ across all of my scans with settings as I please. I really donât like how this software runs the registration immediately after you press stop scan. I also think the software has a lot of room for improvement because the manual alignment is not as intuitive as it should be
Yeah the software is kinda annoying at times especially if you mess a scan up and want to stop it It will go through an entire loading process before you can just delete it.
What is the name of the software you are using to create 3d files
Really great video, thank you so much! Would it be possible to scan a standard BMW Mirror Cap and print it in 3D and laminate it with Carbon Fiber afterwards? đŻ
I can see you being able to do that. There will most likely be some 3D model clean up you will have to do to make sure it's perfect and that it will still mount to the mirror but I can totally see that being done
Can you make a video how to align a part? Like align top, then the bottom. If you turn your part upside down. Thanks
I can and that might be a good idea lol
@@randymay thank you so much. I will be learning and trying for myself. I will be looking forward đ
Thanks for amazing video! Which kind of fillament did u use for your printouts?
I just used pla for this video but I normally print my stuff in ASA or ABS
@@randymay thanks, PLA is like a prototype only?
For car parts yes. PLA is more for things that aren't going to be in UV light all the time and heat. So you can use it inside your home with no problems. But if you have it outside on a hot day it will get soft and deform
@@randymay many thanks for your answer! All clear! Goodluck with your new ideas!
Randy, what are your thoughts on the RevoPoint MINI 3D Scanner, have you evaluated it yet?
I actually have all of the Revopoint scanners and have made videos about all of them so here's a link to the mini.
I also have some other scanners that I haven't made videos on yet that you might be interested in as well, so if you haven't already subscribed you might want to do so đđ
czcams.com/video/COz_eAYSXe4/video.html
Could I use this device to scan on a large scale? Like the whole front end of a car for example
You technically can but it is an absolute pain in the ass to do with this scanner because of the small scan area. That being said they make a bigger one that I actually did scan the front of a car with and you can as well here's a link to the video czcams.com/video/O5Zzx1a2Xdc/video.html
I have a 3-D scanner, and I can barely find uses for it. I have to be honest. Even as a fabricator and artist thereâs almost nothing that I canât make with a ruler and caliper.
I got a good deal on it so Iâm gonna hang onto it until I can find a use for it.
3D scanners are a good tool to get measurements quickly along with being able to capture complex shapes so you can copy them or make things to go on to them without tons of measurement and trial and error.
Did you take the course? And did you like it? I was thinking about taking it too. Thanks for the video
I'm still working on it haven't had much time as of late so far it's pretty good and a lot of the stuff I've learned are the basics that I've already learned about the program so that's nice to get a refresher.
what fillament type did you use for exterior parts of the car?
ASA or ABS
Can I send you something to scan. When you align the scans, and choose points, does the point snap to the scanned file?? Meaning if you had to make four scans, and you have to align it, will the point have a variation in location, or the point will snap to the scan location you choose.
You basically give it 3 reference points that should align and it kind of figures it out.
Can i use this to scan my bumpers? I design parts in clay. Thanks
Yeah you can do that but you will have to use markers so it doesn't loose track and do it in smaller parts and then align them all in the software
@@randymay thank you!
how does it work with black objects?
Yeah it can.
would you recommend this over the creality scan lizard 3d scanner?
To be perfectly honest they are exactly the same scanner with just different housings. So whatever one you can get for cheaper would work fine.
@@randymay you are awesome for this, software is probably the same aswell Iâm assuming?
Yes software is the same at least now it is. You can see in my video that there's an option for Creality lizard đ
Exactly how many hours of scanning it takes for you to come up with a satisfactory cad model of this part !!?
It really didn't take that long to scan. Maybe an hour with all the processing times?
@@randymay which means you're a Pro dude đ
is that a ganador?
Kinda
Lots of issues with this software running on my laptop. Worked with tech support for awhile, but nothing since. Very disappointing so far.
What kind of problems have you been having? That software is not easy to learn in my experience but I think I got it all down pretty much and I think I am about 20 plus hours into using it. So I might be able to help.
This is the video summed up, you can't do it unless you have an relatively expensive 3d scanner, I'm not very good at this so i'm taking a course, use my code to get a discount. This video was just for a product review and get you viewers to pay for your shit lol.
This was basically a review video about the mole scanner but at the same time I wanted to show what you can do with it and that you will need at learn a 3d software if you are going to do anything with any 3d scanner. Even with an expensive scanner you are going to need to learn how to work with the files in 3d and how to make your own parts.
When I comes to the course I talked about in the video it was to show people that it was an option and something that I already bought for myself. So no one was paying for it if they used the code seeing that I already bought it. If anything I would get a credit to use later if I wanted to and they would also get the same amount off the course if they wanted to take it as well.
