Škoda Enyaq Long term report: www.electrifying.com/long-ter...
It's time to say goodbye to our Skoda Enyaq, a car we’ve been driving the length and breadth of the country in over the past six months.
Our Enyaq 80 came with a list price of £42,925 along with a chunky £4,835 of options that lifted the price to £47,460. The options included Climate Package Plus (£325), Moon White Metallic paint (£660) and Comfort Seat package (our backsides say thank you Škoda - this one is money well spent if you regularly drive long journeys). Our car also came with what Škoda calls 'Suite Design Selection (£1,380), which is one of the brand's highest interior trim spec levels. It features leather seats, piano black stripes on the dashboard and a posh-looking faux leather dashboard with stitching.
The Enyaq features a 77 kWh battery and an official range of 330 miles. Over the course of the last six months, efficiency has been a real strong point. It hovered around the high threes to fours in miles per kWh over the Summer which equates to an empty-to-full range of around 290 miles in those milder conditions, but we regularly had 310 miles out of a full charge. For the first time ever, Ginny managed to do her regular drive to Cornwall on a single charge. Which made her very happy.
Our car came with the optional heat pump fitted - which is just over £1,000 - and our advice is to go for it as it’s also helped keep the range up in winter. Current average efficiency has obviously dropped off and we’re currently averaging more like 3 miles per kWh, which equates to around 240 miles on a full charge.
Surprisingly, one of the things we’ve loved most about the Enyaq is the infotainment system. Despite some early glitches when trying switch users, it has been flawless. It can go on a bit of a go slow at times and the speed at which the system ‘wakes up’ and connects to CarPlay isn’t great. But compared to other workings of this VW Group tech, it's pretty good. Hats off to Skoda for that one.
Will we be sad to see the Enyaq go? Very much so. It’s been a brilliant all-rounder that has delivered on every level. Efficient, comfortable and easy to live with, it has all the qualities most family car buyers would look for. Farewell, friend!
Do you have a Škoda Enyaq? Do you love it as much as we do? Let us know in the comments below.

The answer to the cup holder problem is simple. Lift the centre plastic holder out of the base, it has three slots on the back, replace it either on the left or right hand slot, making one space larger for ‘large’ cups, and the other space smaller. Easy as that
People also ask
Where is Skoda Enyaq manufactured?
Škoda Enyaq - Wikipedia
It is assembled at the Škoda plant in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic for the European market.
Got one. Have had it for 2.5 years. Love it. I agree on the cup holders, but I have some metal cups that actually fit 😊
I've had an Enyaq 17 months, done nearly 15000 miles, very happy with it. 99% of the charging has been done at home on the overnight cheap rate. I'm able to set the charging times from the screen in the car? The screen in the car 'says' it's averaged 3.5 miles/KwHr but my home charger tells me how many KwHrs it's added and if you do the maths it works out to 3 miles/KwHr. My previous diesel car also use to say it was getting a better fuel consumption than it actually was! The miles I've done and the electricity costs work out to 7p a mile which is much better than the previous diesel car I had. For info mine doesn't have a heat pump (too expensive an extra) and I do occasionally tow a trailer with it which reduces the range
Thanks, I'm considering going from a diesel to an Enyaq and this is a very useful post.
charger maybe includes the loses : AC to DC, charging resistance
My only issue with the enyaq is the options list it really pushes the price up
That's the point of options. You also have the choice of *not* specifying them, thus not increasing the price of the car.
It’s just tight when you look at some of it. Remember when Ryanair wanted to charge to pee
@@Brian-om2hh the problem is their competitors cost the same with those options included and in this day and age it’s hard to just get one option without buying a pack that includes stuff you don’t want. Skoda used to be good for giving you a good standard spec but now they are just VW through and through
@Brian-om2hh I give you: Kia and Hyundai.

As a Skoda owner (Kamiq) I'm waiting to see what the new electric Elroq is like. The concept looked stunning. It's about Yeti sized from what I gather....
The Enyaq is currently and has been almost from release at the top of my electric car list. It's like a jack of all trades and is so versatile because of it. I've also sat in a few when my current car has been in for a service and the only thing that I noticed was the raised floor because that's where the batteries live. I'll not say too much about the infotainment other than to agree it does seem to be different in a good way from the likes of VW and Seat/Cupra cars but I still want buttons and twisty things to adjust the heating/cooling without messing about on a touch screen on the move. If I'm at the dealers next time I'll do the cup holder test as the new name Enyaq 85.
Had mine for 18 months & on the whole I really like it. Quality is good, performance is good; better than most ICE cars in the real world. Handling is as good as you can expect from a std. SUV. OK not quite fun, but it's safe & predictable and I would go as far as enjoyable if you know the road... and you can get the back end out with practice 😁 19" rims are the ones with the best ride/handling compromise. I have the power tailgate & movable boot floor which fixes two of your gripes. You have got to be kidding on the Infotainment system and app though; it's derisory! Yes, better than the rest of the VAG versions but that's a bit like saying Mussolini was better than Hitler. Agree on the front cup holders and the charging speeds can be a bit moody. The other thing that enrages me is have to pay for upgrades already fitted to the car, like auto dip headlights & ambient light functions! This and the high price means I wont be getting another. I still think the Enyaq looks better but I can get a Tesla Y for the same money now - Come on?!
I have 80x with infotainment 3.6 software everything works well no issues so far and over 1900 km driven i guess you have much older SW version.
@@mr.wizeguy8995 It's a 22MY 60iV, my colleague has an 80iv, same year, same issues - Up to 9 seconds of lag sometimes! I haven't looked at my software version for a while but there are no updates pending and it recently had an update when it went in to have the puddle lights replaced. 3.2 last time I checked I think. The functionality of the app is rubbish; can't lock the doors or close windows charging level often doesn't communicate. It may be the internet signal but we never had a problem with our Zoe or Smart and our Corsa-e is fine too (and that has auto dip headlights!). It's a real shame; as a vehicle it's great. Its going in with a charging fault this week (The lead is dead but they need it for a day to check) they can check the software whilst it's there.
Would love to see you do a comparison to the 2024 Enyaq 85. Beter motor, beter battery management, beter software.
Better?
Having owned an Enyaq for 2 years, this review is very accurate. Ginny has clearly used the car regularly as she states in the video.
Thx Ginny - Great review 👍👌
Sorry Ginny. But how can home charging be a bit quicker if you have single phase electricity supply allowing for your max 7.4kW? Are you planning to upgrade to 3 phase which will only give you max 11kW anyway due to the onboard charger?
I had exactly the same thought 😂, with 32A single phase it's always going to be around 7.4kW max
Great video and I totally agree with your feelings on this car. Just coming up on 16,000 miles in my 2023 Enyaq IV 80 in 6 months and I love it. Had 2 x ID5's before and they're very similar but the Enyaq slightly better. Mine had 20" upgraded alloys, heat pump and the ECO suite but if you are high mileage like me, but can charge from home and do around 240 miles a day then its spot on. Its a bit close on the range during ( if doing 250 miles a day ) the winter but loads spare when the weather warms up, the heat pump does help during the really cold weather. The in built Sat Nav is the only Nav better than Apps on my phone but that is the same as the VW ID4/5. Only thing that really annoyed me that I didn't have on the ID 5 was the fact you have to pay to upgrade the headlamps to "Auto Dip" at night whereas the VW its standard.
Hi ginny just seen your electrifying video about the skoda enyaq 80 in moon white it’s so nice to hear a great review about the car because I have ordered just before Xmas 2023 the 2024 Skoda enyaq 85x sport line plus in moon white so I am really pleased you and ziggy like the car and I can’t wait till may to put mine to the test
Ps love your videos in in escape to the country
Kind regards
Kev
It already has the new motor, right? Great choice, it is such a good EV.
@@bullshitbingo2259 All with 85 in name tag has new motor and infotainment and charging in cold temperature works really well.
I ordered the VRS in Race Blue in December, so I hope its as good as Ginny found it here. I can live with small cup holders. I'm hoping all the updates fix the bits mentioned here. Good luck with your Sportline Plus. Fingers crossed they turn up around March time.
@@michaeldarling6791
Hi Michael the RS is a really nice car I drove the coupe version on my test drive which was the service managers car before I ordered my sport line plus it really handled great you’re gonna love it l have ordered mine in chesterfield I have got an installation date for my EV charging station so everything is on track
Good luck with your new car
Kev
One good thing I have to say about my Mini, the cup holders are perfect for a Ikea coffee cup.
Did I hear correctly at about 11.40 - fast charge speed drops off at 30% capacity???
madam, did you try to put your tea cup in usable cup and place it in holder?
It would be interesting to see what 2024 changes have improved the new Enyak. Back-light controls , efficiency improvements etc?
Decent video. Love the comic touch.
Well it's only taken 2.5 years, but at least a motoring journalist has mentioned the Enyaq cupholder problem. Thank you Ginny! I loved the Enyaq when I test drove it (I did find the ride too jiggly on uneven C-roads, but i was hoping the adaptive damper option pack would sort that), right up to the point where i tried to put my cup of tea into the cupholder. That's a deal breaker for me. BTW, the ones in the rear armrest are just as useless. Hyundai's cupholders work, as do Nissan's, and that's enough to put the Ioniq 5 and the Ariya ahead of the Enyaq on my shopping list.
Great video Ginny. This was an expensive car for what you got, you were lucky with the infotainment after the reset alot of other VW users are driven mad by it. Fair to say the Korean brands were way ahead for less money.
I've seen some adaptors on Amazon that fit into the cup holders and then you can put larger cups in.
Bring and show Ziggy in every car 🚗!
Great review.
I've had one for about 4 months - really like it as main family car. Only complaints are : 1) cup holders. 2)aircon fans run a bit loud 3) infotainment system a bit laggy. Other than that, it's great.
I was put off by the Enyaq options as early models needed lots of option packs. I believe the new Edition trim adds lots of kit thst used to be an option. Please could you run us through the new specs and the power hike?
thank you . i feel i should male you a cup holder on my 3 D printer and send it to you from cyprus . you make me want to buy it
I'm an TM3LR driver, but my colleague has the Enyaq, and I've travelled in it several times. Hugely more comfy, & really well appointed interior, for a more basic version than yours. The rear is fantastic, but ONLY for two rear passengers. Three is a very tight squeeze. From the passenger POV, it's been so nice to travel in. It was my first choice as a company car, until I realised there was a Tesla option. But, frankly, I'd have been very happy with the 77 kWh Enyaq rwd that I'd originally been looking at.
TLRMY is a closer comparison to the Skoda Enyaq. 2024 M3, is a huge improvement in comfort, quality & build over present model. 2024 MY should get the same improvements when refreshed. Enyaq is the best of all the VW offerings of this size, pound for pound I’d still choose the model Y, it has a heat pump as standard and software that works. The Supercharging Network makes National and European travel very accessible with ease.
Are you going to review the 2024 facelifted model? Simpler options list, more things standard, new motor and new faster re-designed Infotainment system? (Enyaq 85 Edition Advanced on order)
I was disappointed at the lack of Virtual Cockpit options, which is available in many VW group non-EVs. I was coming from an Audi A5. In the end I bought a Polestar 2.
You can set schedule timing in the car
Is it just me but doesn’t the price range quoted £42000 to £47000 immediately rule it out as an option?
No, it’s not just you.
10:12 I've heard from an owner of the Enyaq that the dealer said to not take the heatpump option because it's not worth it. I wonder if that was in his interest or the buyer.
I love Ziggy! Doggies are infinitely better species than ours. Our Pomeranian rides in a doggy seat in the rear, strapped in for safety, of course. We just replaced our Model 3 with a spanking new Ioniq 5 Limited, which has more room than ever, much like your Enyaq.
Genuine question. Are there any drivers out there who are having difficulty placing their cars where they want them on the road? If so what cars?
Mmm, proper ski hatch. Handy for carrying a chainsaw with a long guide bar. Would save having to drop the rear seats when transporting more than one saw or carrying the 4ft. breaking-bar.
So Ginny - would it be the Enyaq or the Q4 e-tron if you had to pick and why? You drove both for 6 months I believe.
They have improved the enyaq with the 2024 model.
Skoda seem to have revamped several of their range for 2024...
Just took delivery of the ‘24 model Enyaq 85 a few days ago - so far we’re loving it. MUCH more practical and plusher than the Leaf Mk2 it replaced. The new model is a little sportier too (if a large SUV can be considered sporty 😂), at 0-62 in less than 7 seconds. It’s the practically that’s the best thing for us though - two boys and a dog, and we have soooo much space! Wish we could afford the heat pump - it’s a real shame it’s only an extra even on the plush trim levels.
Isnt heat pump standard? Thats what the dealer tells me anyway
@@rickardjonsson4526 Not when I ordered it anyway, I did want a heat pump, but it was an £800 (I think) extra according to the dealer. Maybe it’s standard with certain specs, such as SportLine?
Cheers Ginny
This may or may not do well in the US. It still would be an over $50k car which would be its biggest downfall, but if it has fast charging like the Tesla, Hyundai and KIA, it may do ok. The two most popular brands I see here in LA is Tesla and Chevy Bolt, Tesla being high end and the Bolt is around $30k or so. This does look like a nice car.
Scoda 62 kw on average how much how much consumption has got ??
A bit pricey I'd say, considering the cupholder issue. No matter, not available in the States anyway...
Nice cat you got there.
got my Enyaq for 3y now... the car is still a very good option but: 1) the tailgate is temperamental and how they implement the grab that works against you is a strange decision 2) Just Skoda App. 3) the way how Skoda changed the tech spec six months after the release so people who preordered the car never got promised updates 4) how Skoda left all 60 users with the ME3 version and left them without any future upgrades. 5) the roof or windows can open completely on their own 6) temperamental controls both tablet and roof console. once a month just stop reacting and the ONLY solution is to lock the car for 30 minutes. 6) to defrost the car, the lowest temp you can set is 16deg, and that procedure takes a whopping 3% of the battery from model 60 7) cupholders. for a completely unknown reason, they are 4mm too narrow to be OK with the 80% of cups. 8) even the L&K version got massage done with lumbar support instead of full seat and back like in Kodiaq and ID.7
The tailgate strap design is truly awful. I really hurt my forearm when I first used it, because strap pulls edge of really heavy tailgate onto one's arm. Each time I use it, I have to concentrate not to pull it down in the natural way you would do so.
@@JeremyLawrence-imajez the worst part is this is not a small startup but one of the biggest car manufacturer groups on the global market. they should understand physics for 10-year-olds.
I don't get why you would want faster charging speeds for home charging. Most home chargers are 7kw single phase so this wouldn't make a difference.
Otherwise a great informative review. I like the different style adopted here
Ah, the old “hold the power button of the infotainment system for 20 seconds” trick in a Skoda. Have to do every few days in my 2021 Octavia. That’s if the system hasn’t frozen, crashed and restarted itself. Not to mention its latest trick that if I plug my phone in to charge and try to play audio via CarPlay it refuses to play anything. Can’t wait till see the back of it, and it’s the reason I didn’t even consider an Enyaq when ordering its replacement
You can set a charging schedule in the car I do it
Funny, we used to have dogs in the 1970th thru to the 21th century, but we never needed a 2 metric ton behemoth to transport the dog.
I dont understand why people need those sizes of transportation to transport 1 person and a dog. And sometimes, 2 or 3 times a year, even 2 or 3 passenger.
That could be done with ease in a 1970 2-door VW beetle, or Ford Escort for that matter. Spoiled whining generation.
The closest you can get to some technical data about the car being "tested" on this channel: the tea cup test.
Electrifying: this is the place to be!
Ziggy can chat with his fam 💗🥰🐕💗
Afternoon Ginny
I would be very interested in one of these, but in Ireland, they start at €52K. The ID 4 was reduced by a large amount to starting at €42K. The Model Y starts at €43K and is best value, but the hard too hard for the rural area I live in
Model Y is far from best value, it is super outdated with very limited range and cheap interior. Volkswagen ID.4 Pro, Enyaq 85 or VW ID.7 are the best options on the market at the moment.
@@bullshitbingo2259 The pan roof, faux leather, all the cameras, heated electric seats, all extras in others make the price very appealing. To get the Enyaq with simila spec, would be €60k, and is out of my price range, even though it's a better car
Ginny, you're never going to get faster charging speeds at home with a single phase energy supply, it's not down to the enyaq. Yesterday on intelligent Octopus Go I was given 12 hours off peak, so you can fully charge on off peak if you have the right taic.
A question: My car lives in an underground car park with no mobile reception. Does that charging set by app work then (probably not)?
I have a '73 Enyaq iV 80 Sportline and there are no rear USB ports. The boot door is quite heavy with no auto tailgate. The packaging under the bonnet is poor as there's enough physical space to store cables and other bits but no cubbys. The touch interior lights are frusterating. Cupholders are poor and block buttons. No auto lowering left side mirror when reversing, my mid spec 2016 Golf has that. UK spec glovebox is small as they kept fuse box on the left. There's not enough rubber seals around the door. They want a good £260 to license the radar cruise control and a few other options in the "store". Winter range is dire. No battery pre-heat function. £1000 heat pump is a joke, I was getting 2.5 miles per Kw over the recent freezing weather. So a few more issues not mentioned there Ginny. Overall I like the car too.
Left side mirror lowers on our Enyaq when reversing. I also got 3.6m/kw over last few Winter months - how you drive will affect this enormously. In summer I've driven 240 miles with 112 miles left in 'tank'.
Gesture controlled interior lights are indeed a pain to use.
@@JeremyLawrence-imajez I think certain similarly priced spec levels differ in things like rear USB ports and left side mirror lowering on reverse- no idea why, USB ports and wiring parts are literally only €1 but a big inconvenience for me not having them. Overall I strongly feel many EV's were rushed by manufacturers, perhaps pressured by regulators/law makers and ofcourse changing trends
I'm a little confused by the comment about the off-peak overnight charging speeds. The Enyaq has 11kW AC charging. It has a 77kWh battery pack. Most people have a 7kW home charger. That's going to take about 11 hours to "fill it". The only way it can be quicker is for you to have a 11kW home charger. Or the Enyaq gets fitted with 22kW AC charging and you'd have to get a 3-phase 22kW home charger. Anyway, how often do you need to "fill it up"?
Sorry for the cupholders, the original Enyaq for Czechs has beer on tap from the roof instead of cupholders. No engineer could possibly guess that someone in the world drinks coffee instead. Oops, I see, you obviously drink tea. An unusual twist for our would-be beer culture brothers.
I would much rather have 40/20/40 than a ski hatch!
Hello Ziggy
Those ski hatches are great in this country if? Your taking the family fishing ,somewhere to sticks your rods or that really big fish you caught 😂😂😂😊👍
Not sure what the point is of white metallic paint
In sunlight it takes on a sort of pearl effect....
Waste of money, it still looks normal white if you aren't nose length away.
Great review - we have the 80 also and done +10k incl. trip through France, motorways and small alpine roads - it delivered it all and is so quiet to drive, relaxing. Agree with cup holders and ranges quoted. And it’s not a Tesla meaning I haven’t provided very unpleasant Musk with even more cash.
The Enyaq is a pretty impressive all rounder but faaar too big for a five seater.
I just don't get this obsession with cups and cupholders. I've been driving since 1964 and I, and various passsengers over the years, have never, ever, ever felt the need to have actual cups with drinks on board. When do you drink? when you`re going along? do you pull over in crowded high streets? deliberately seek out rural lay bys? and what happens if a passenger tries to drink while drive and you have to do an emergency stop? The cupholders on my Enyaq are just so much utterly wasted space.
£50k no electric boot? 😂
Why buy new? Who's really daft enough to do that? You can pick a 2021 model up for just over £21k
3:49 what else they like about Kia 😂
Were is Nicola
As the driver if a Sportline Plus 80X 2023, I found this very helpfull.
I think the Enyaq deserves a hell of a lot more looking into by the likes of Ginni, Matt Watson etc
Whenever it has coverage, the comments section are flooded with intetested people and questions that go unanswered.
On another note, I got a charging speed of 144 kW at a open to all Tesla Supercharger on a cold December night around 9pm.
I'm super happy with this car.
Start Engine 😆
I don’t understand why traditional car manufacturers still have engine on their start/stop buttons. Just put start/stop on them and you can use them in all your cars. Now it just looks silly when you put it in an EV.
@@Dubnoreix Enyaq turns on when you sit on seat and push break pedal. Button is there so you can leave keys in car if there is passenger then push start button so he/she can listen music example.
Those teenagers are mucky pups aren’t they ?! 😂
A perfect family car would be a Citroën Picasso EV
This Skoda is an Audi for all the wrong reasons. Ireland reclaims back the Enya appropriation
Wow those cup holder are tiny. Deal
Breaker for me…. Sorry Skoda.
Skoda wanted to charge me €1,000 for wireless charging when I tried to order one last year . I now love my Ionic 5 and its much bigger boot was a huge bonus too.
Enyaq boot is 11% bigger than Ionic 5, 527 litre vs 585 litre.
BREAKING: Within 1-2 weeks Skoda will announce heavy discounts on Enyaq in a number of European countries.
Might be, there was heavy price increase 2 year ago. I got my 80x 2 month ago would get 3000 € more what i paid if i sell it right away.
@@mr.wizeguy8995 No, you will not
@@curioussand1339 Yes i would, price for used 80x here is between 56k - 58k euro and i paid much less.
They are already here in UK - I monitor prices for my company scheme and an Enyaq is now cheaper to lease than a lot of smaller hatchbacks. Must be discounting them as list prices are a lot higher than the smaller cars.
Nice review, however are you driving a loan vehicle. If so have you thought about the many other considerations. I.e the cost of insurance, forthcoming changes to VED charges, the cost of depreciation, the inability of the National Grid to supply enough electricity etc. etc.
Regarding EV’s in general. A number of manufacturers have reduced production due to a build up of unsold cars.
I’ve carried our comprehensive research, into the purchase of an EV, and have become aware of a number of factors.
1. They cost a lot more, a similarly featured Kia EV, costs £14k more than an ICE Skoda.
2. The depreciation on the EV is far far greater.
3. The cost of insuring the EV is in excess of £2,000, the Skoda £350.
4. The addition cost of a home charger £1,000, and what about those living in flats, terraced house etc.
5. The range quoted, is under ideal conditions, in the winter due to ancillaries, it decreases dramatically.
6. Just have a look at the many other videos on CZcams, concerning non-working chargers, long waits at charges, range anxiety, and watching ICE vehicles fill in a couple of minutes.
7. Read the articles in the press by Rowan Atkinson. Petrol head, with a bachelor’s in electrical engineering, and a masters in science and electrical engineering. He is not Mr Bean!!
8. The work being done by JCB, regarding site equipment.
9. The fact that battery powered HGV’s are unsuitable, due to range etc. etc.
10. Think for a moment on the validity of the government’s position. The person in charge, is only there due to the fact he was the only one who knew how to put a new plug on a kettle. Some may also conjecture that a distant relative might have interests in an organisation which would benefit financially, a bit like the PPE scandal?
In conclusion there is no doubt that the world is going to hell in a shopping trolley, and something has to be done. But at best, current technology electric cars, are not going to prove to be the answer. There is much research being undertaken into other solutions, and I, for one am expecting/hoping for a more realistic solution.
Are you guys locking your dogs in the back of the car??? What the... Is there any special locking mechanism for them in there at least? It sounds so savage to me. Please tell me there's special security made for them at the back of the car
If I was looking for a spacious family car that drives well, is efficient, is comfortable then I'd walk straight past the Enyaq, get a Tesla Model Y and save myself a wheelbarrow load of money. Plus it will be faster, charge faster and have access to the supercharger network.
Hahaha sorryl, then you went straight to the most outdated EV in the market.
Anyone who buys a Model Y at this moment has absolutely no idea about market developments. The Enyaq just got a new powerful and efficient drivetrain + motor update, it has great range, great space and interior, and solid tech features.
Model Y has like none of that. Wait for the facelift or straight away get an Enyaq.
It’s a question of taste, the Model Y interior leaves me cold
Great vid Ginny. I’d love to see a comparison with the Model Y. For me, the Enyaq gives you so much more interior content than the Tesla, much more my cup of tea (cupholders notwithstanding) 🫖
Apart from what the others said, you can get an Enyaq for way less than a Model Y at the moment
You can't get HUD, DCC, Matrix lights, not even well working windshield vipers for Model Y. And Tesla chargers are available for other cars here as well cost a bit more to charge.
£47 k with that spec is absurd Vs the competition….its a big car but definitely overpriced, typical VAG
Very bad review. Half of the video clips were not even of your car !! It was a left hand drive car !! Very sloppy. 👎
Imagine passengers in the back keep the blinds up because they don't want to be seen in a Skoda 😂
Very boring car imo just like all the VW EVs
absolutely no need to vacuum the poor thing before filming and respect the viewers
Entitled much are we?
