Diagnostic tool for Audi - Launch CReader Elite review, pros & cons

- Going though most popular diagnostic options of Launch #Creader Elite scanner in #Audi Q3, Audi A4, Audi Coupe, VW Golf MK7, and Fiat Grande Punto. I checked out how this #scanner handles such things as full diagnostic scan for faults, reading and clearing diagnostic trouble codes, adaptation value change, live data view and graph drawing, output tests of various vehicle components. Tested it agains more modern cars (2012 Audi Q3) as well as little bit older ones (2002 Audi A4 B6 and Audi Coupe with 1.8T engine swap). Also in unsupported vehicles like 2015 Volkswagen Golf MK7 and 2009 Fiat Punto.
I also went through some options like system upgrade, built-in apps update, diagnostic report sharing,
ℹ️ I'm happy to say that this device work very well. Diagnostic procedures are simple enough, Launch does not lock-out other VAG vehicles from the Audi app (I've successfully used the Audi extension with VW Golf MK7 which is made on MQB platform just like Audi A3 8V). When it comes to functionality, you can compare it with VCDS or OBDeleven. It connects with all modules in the vehicle and shows you all the needed options: long coding, adaptation, DTC read and clear, basic settings, output tests, live data. Maybe the user interface is not as friendly, but all the necessary functions are there. The device also supports generic OBD2 protocol which I tested with 2009 Fiat Punto.

Includes guided functions with step-by-step procedures for most common jobs (injector learning, DPF regeneration, throttle body adaptation, headlights basic settings, EPB release).
Supports Audi cars as well as VW vehicles (tested on 2015 Golf MK7).
Built-in WiFi connection allows to download paid extensions, directly update the device, send diagnostic reports, lookup DTCs on-line, and even watch CZcams tutorials. All this directly on the device.
microSD card port for memory extension.
Built-in battery makes sure that the device will stay on when you need to cycle the ignition or crank the engine. Thanks to that Launch scanner will not reboot on voltage drops.
All the time you can see the cars voltage on the status bar, to make sure that the cars battery will not go flat during long diagnostic procedures.
Over all it's a high quality device - bright display, high resolution, responsive system, high FPS, compact size, low weight.
👎 Cons
No search field in live data selection list - you need to browse the list manually.
Low volume of the built-in speaker.
Can't adjust font size - would love to have smaller one to fit more data and complete adaptation channel name on the display.

Very thorough review. I just bought the BMW specific version. Seems like the best bang for the buck to get very detailed diagnostics for a specific make. The coding and actuation options are very nice

Hey, i have a problem with my mk7 Golf, the doors are closing after 30 or 60 seconds, i know its a feature and i can disable automatic closing but if i do that the doors wont close after 20 orsomething km/h. So i want to long code this using obdeleven, but i cant find the instruction about disabling only the closing after 30 sec anywhere.. So maybe you know this ?

Can I use this tool to trigger the central locking or electronic boot/trunk release?
Do you know how to do a crank relearn with it? The maker/seller of this product said that it can be done. Not sure how to do it. I've already updated all the updates
With the expiration date, does that mean the device bricks itself after 10 years and you then have to spend more money? When I buy something, I expect it to work forever until there is a physical device failure.

It keep showing odome😢reading in km I believe because I did a conversion and I got the correct reading in miles. I used the setting feature to change units of measurement but it did not work

Jest Carista, która ogarnia trochę więcej, ale nie daje bezpośredniego dostępu do kodowania/adaptacji.
Jest też Carly (albo myCarly).

A ja nie mówię, że nie. Jak miałem Bmw to kilka opcji też tam odblokowałem.

Well, it can do basic settings, so I assume it can do it. I haven't tried this specific procedure yet.
Thanks for the quick reply. VCDS can do it but OBDeleven can’t so it would be interesting to have an alternative. However it’s not cheap is it! VCDS is £225 for 3vins…
OBDeleven with PRO or Ultimate license should be able to do it just as well as VCDS.
