Fun fact D-Low after his final round went so hard that he did need to take a break to recover. But generally beatboxers dont have sore throats after the contest or a routine. That usually happens when we practice or start learn a new technique. (These guys have mastered it to a point it doesnt hurt unless they do it for literally half a day in dlows case)

D-low got 2nd place in two different categories at the GBB in 2018, GBB being one of, if not the most prestigious beatbox competitions there is. He then went one to score a 2nd place and a 1st place across two categories in 2019. Don’t know how much he competed other than the Kickback battle considering corona but I’m pretty sure he’s be undefeated for a very long time now, since 2019 at least if not even since his loss in 2018. So basically I think most people would agree that he is currently the guy to beat, maybe not everyone’s favourite beatboxer or musician but definetly the best battle beatboxer. Though to be fair we have not seen him battle the winner of GBB 2021 yet (they battles in 2019 but not since), a competition that D-low was a part of judging instead of competing.

But you can train it so you are able to hold sounds like the inward bass, throat bass or vibration bass for a very long time. If you want to learn/ train it, you need a lot of water or some tea.
To master a bass like these, it needs years. You get it in like a week and then you have to master it and improve yourself.

That high pitched sound you keep hearing is actually not his throat, he's not using his voice at all to do that. If you look closely you can see he bites his lip, and then he sucks in air to make that sound (not that simple, but trying to simplify it a little). A lot of sounds are made just with lips being in a certain position. Like 17:35 "BITE my lip"

That a bit much bro cuz he is the best at battling In his prime but if we talk solo elimination many could win. Some people have really good routines rivalling Dan like inertia. But he is one of the best

    Just a point here:
Beatbox is not TALENT. Is countless hours of training and hardwork.
As most things in the world, somethings can be easier for some people than others, but you don`t get to THIS LEVEL without diving into study and training.
D-Low is an amazing MUSICIAN. This guy knows music and music theory more than a lot of standard musicians out there.
Years and Years of hardwork and study. That is it.

Honestly it's differ from which sound you use and your mastery over it and in general in a live battle you don't want try things you don't master. Soo we're not hurt After a battle, it's more during the learning time ahah

When you are aiming to perfect a sound, the goal is a combination of the cleanest and most sustainable sound you can do. It would suck if you had a sound that shredded your voice and impeded you in the near future. Certain techniques, notable throat bass and inward bass, are very damaging to the vocal chords if not practiced in moderation and with proper care/hydration. If I beatbox for way too long, I usually end up with a sore throat or worse case losing my voice. I assume the effects would be much worse if you were performing for days at an event.

Actually even throat and Inwardbass don’t necessarily hurt your throat if you understand the right way to apply the pressure. Sure while you practice you have to stop when it hurts, but pain also shows that you‘re not entirely on the right track with your technique.
Ofc it still takes time to get to this point with basses, but most professionals are at a point where using their sounds doesn’t hurt even after days of spamming. I’m using my inwardbass like everyday and never had problems with pain in my throat.

@@winterfeld2458 What I'm pretty scared about when using Inward or Throat Bass is either it's healthy for the voice to do it, I sing and shit and I want to get better with singing and beatboxing shit. I mean it doesn't have to necessarily hurt for it to actually cause vocal damage, it can accumulate over time and I don't want any of that shi happening. Trying to get a vocal coach that knows his shit but still quite busy with work and stuff, hopefully I found the answer.

If you practice throat bass everyday, it doesn't really hurt. Certain styles hurt worse than others, but if you're regularly practicing it's not too bad. If you use throat bass nonstop for a long time, it can definitely hurt though. Some people even damage their vocal cords when they are learning because they don't stop when it starts to hurt.

your throat doesnt really hurt after beatboxing even for a long time just because your throat gets used to it no real pain is caused the only time it might hurt is when you first learn the sound after that you get used to it and you can do it for a pretty long time
