- It's Thursday 29th June 2023 and a few of us have gathered at Selsley Common near Stroud, and I've set an optimistic goal on the south coast at Goring-on-Sea, some 163kms away, but after sitting on the hill for three hours with nothing but four short hops to show for it, we're just about ready to pack up and go home...! The forecast was definitely for more wind than we'd had so far, and we needed to get up and away soon in order to ride an area of good air down to the coast... well, that was the plan at least!
It's quite a long video so please bear with it, I think you'll find it enjoyable (and useful) - after all I did have three or four pretty low saves during the flight!

Looked like fun! Makes me look forward to my first long flights :-)
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it… good luck with your XC progression!
Awesome flight Tim. Nice save at 450'
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! I hope the resolution was good enough - it’s taking an age to process the HD versions
Nice one Tim, another great flight ❤
Cheers Nik, glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
Increible vuelo saludos Tim
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Wow...😁👍...about pretty much everything, especially that super-low save.
And, you passed the resting place of my dear, ol' Dad - Ellisfield.
Great flight & video, and thanks for the fond memories 😊
Thanks for your comments Si, really glad you enjoyed it, and happy that it brough back some fond memories
@@TimPentreath Cheers, mate 😊
Pizza looked epic, thanks for sharing, oh great xc flight over some familar landmarks
Cheers Rob, glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻👍🏻
You've got such an obedient vario, after every "oh come on" it starts beeping again 😅
I’ve got it very well trained 😂
Another great video Tim. I've not flown for weeks being Winter here in Australia. Looking forward to my trip back to the old country next month.
Cheers Jeff, ping me if you’re in the Bath / Bristol area and looking to go flying…
@@TimPentreath Thanks Tim but I will be on the Isle of Wight.
@@jeffcrutchlow9518 Nice, I was born there far too many years ago, and my parents retired there so I know it well… have a lovely time!
Awesome flight❤ Some close calls pretty low and still going strong💪 I still didn't make 100km's yet, 82km's @ 5.5 hours. Not fast, But very happy with it🤗
Thanks Edwin, it was a tricky flight for sure, but rewarding! Good luck with your first 100 - if you can do 82 then you can deffo do 100, all you need is one more climb 👍🏻
@@TimPentreath, Yes that's totally true. It was late tho, So it was a scratching game in the end, But i made goal🤗 I want to get it here in Holland too. From whinchtow and than make this 100km flatland triangle. The 82 was in Slovenia
With an open harness and a Swing Nyos RS High B wing😉
Enjoyed the vid Tim up here in the North West we have had crappy strong wind from the East for weeks
Thanks Tony, you'll have to watch it again when the HD versions are available...
I thought you'd had a pretty good season so far oop north... maybe not the last couple of weeks though...
Great flight, well done!
Thanks James, glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
what a day!!! beautiful fluffy clouds!!! what kind of crops can you find on the landing fields?
Glad you enjoyed it! We would try to avoid landing on cropped fields (ie. wheat, barley etc) and try to land on grass fields
@@TimPentreath thanks. Here where I live in México the good landing fields are of alfalfa, that only grows like 30 cm, or the fields with cattle. But you gotta watch out not to land on sugarcane or agave.
@@RodrigodeObeso ah, gotcha, yeah we have no shortage of good landing fields in the UK
collapse at 1min 37. POW!
Yeah that was Wez, nothing too dramatic, but a few secs later Steve Newcombe had a good collapse and surge on his Mantra 7 (out of pic unfortunately), and Ken Wilkinson also had a handful at a similar time. Deffo some spicy air for a few mins!
@@TimPentreath Fantastic seeing it rise through with the flick of the wingtips in its wake. You pinpointed its core and turned in hard. Great seeing you guys climbing out. Patience is justly rewarded to the bold.
Tim, it's a pleasure to see your videos. I'd like to fly with you. One question, is the button on your right hand from the Zello application?
Thanks man, I’m glad you enjoy them. And yes, it’s a Zello PTT, not that I use it very often!
Hi Tim loving your flights and commentary thankyou . Have actually been a lurking observer for a quite a while , just subscribed . Hey what is that live tracking 3d programme you are using ? Avyri was what I have used in the past but I hear it’s no longer a thing.
Oh yeah Dave WardSmith says hello as well - told him that you mentioned him on one of your vlogs
Thanks Sean, I’m assuming you’re in NZ if you see Dave? It’s sportstracklive.com - a great replacement for ayvri 👍🏻
Brilliant
Thanks Russell
Hey Tim, another awesome video as usual! Mind if I make a suggestion? It would be really cool if you could include some information about when you use the speed bar in your future videos. Thanks!
Thanks Rob, glad you enjoyed it. I sometimes mention it, other times I forget - will try to comment more often, but you should be able to tell by looking to see if there’s a loop in the risers which indicates I’m on bar
At 34-35 min there were a few bangs. Do they focus you to keep climbing as fast as possible?
It's quite usual in the south of England, various bird shoots and nothing to worry about.
😂
Wait to land in Italy for the Pizza... 😀
😂

is that an iphone that you are using? if so, what is that flying app called that you are using?
Hi, yes, it’s Flyskyhy - I’ve been using it for 10 years now and it’s brilliant.
No ice cream?
Sadly not, had to make do with pizza 😂
360p gang
Have patience Florian, 4K will be there soon!
