    As a small contractor myself I want to say thank you for being honest. I agree 100% with your approach to problems. Fix what is broke, don’t sell stuff they don’t need, and BE HONEST!
    I suspect a good portion of contractors are simply ignorant. They really don’t know how to problem-solve so they throw parts at it until it goes away.
    I’m a commercial roofing contractor in DFW. I stumbled onto your channel today and I’m comfortable telling you I will refer my own clients to you if you are local and want the business.
    Semper Fidelis!

    The idea of getting the condensation outlet away from the foundation is recommended by termite control people, in my case.

    Ted you are the kind of tech I strive to be. Like you said at the end, let the homeowner decide. Let them know what you found and fixed, then if they want more they have that option. I hate companies that push sales on customers. I worked for one and it played hell on my mind. Keep up the great work, love the videos

    Thanks for the video.
    There’s no longer a need to manually clear the AC drain line, just install a steady stream condensate pump and it automates the process.

    @gman8260 Před 3 lety +2

    Nice fix. Not sure why you don't carry a funnel and bucket. The funnel to help pour cleaner into the condensate line to prevent spillage and a bucket to collect the cleaner when it comes outside. You could then see if the amount in the bucket is close to what you poured into the drain line.

    Used that vacuum trick on a fairly new mini split last week. The AC is in a second floor loft with wireless remote so not easy to access even from inside. Used the vac from ground level outside and cleared the clog in seconds. Waited a minute till it ran clean and sucked it out again just to be sure. Beats the hell out of blowing through the pipe and having to worry if something became disconnected from the pressure.

    Great video and much improved audio. Thanks. In the last shot of the evaporator drains (14:25), I noticed that the white drain plug that you "borrowed" from the secondary drain (to plug the primary drain vent temporarily) was not back in its place. Maybe you used a black plug?

      @@TedCookHVAC Drainage is an issue, the ground from the house has to be graded so that the water runs away from the house and does not pool next to the house. True for rainwater and for condensate lines.

    Do you ever use electrical sweeps for condensate drains? I clean drains for a living and I get calls for condensate lines quite a bit. Nothing I have will go through PVC pressure fittings and vacuum doesn't always work. If you used sweeps, you wouldn't have those hard corners for material to collect in and even if you did get a clog you could run a snake (or at least an electrician's fish tape up the pipe to dislodge debris and algae.

It will all come out. Now please know that I enjoy watching and think you do a good YOB. I wanted to say, soak it Cider and wait and hour for a joke. I was afraid no one would get it.

    Documenting that you at least offered can be the difference between a customer having a case, or not having a case; should water damages occur again in the future.

I also noticed I have a drain into the main bathroom. Do I also have a third drain? Cause I have a similar drain outside like where you hooked up your vacuum.
