  • This is a very fun project. I think I can get better each time I do it. I love the way they look. I most defiantly be doing more. Also I forgot to say to use the kitchen bath clear 100% silicone. The odor is bad if you get for exterior. I didn't smell this at all. Any tips you can give would be appreciated!

Sandy I just love that you try anything!! I like the look of the dark dipped bulbs. I am going to have to give this a try. Do you notice a cinnamon scent when you light them? Great job!!!

I really don’t notice any smell. I also make candles so I think I will add some of my fragrance oil next time.

I think if you use a small wet paint brush you can smooth the texture. Water smooths silicone easily. My dad always used a nail to seal his tube up and it kept it fresh for a long time.

Thank you, Rosa. I should have thought of that! I’ve done that around windows. I will try it.

Mineral spirits will thin it, a couple drops. Then for color use oil based paint, a little at a time.

If you use your heat gun to warm the silicon a little it may be pliable

Great tutorial!! When I did these I used those small bathroom cups filled with the silicone and cinnamon mixture and the key to making them smooth for me with the long tail was to dip them in the mixture, start to twirl them when coming out of the cut (don't stop turning them) and right before you exit the cup pull straight up. the tail or curl (some call it one and some call it the other) will be long and the silicone on the bulb will be smooth. Hope this helps someone.

will give this a try. I’m going to keep doing until I have it perfected. I just love them and think they would be good sellers.

Maybe if you use your plastic knife to go around the bulb(as if your frosting a cake) I may work.

I tried putting it in the microwave for a bit. I’ll try the heat gun next time. I have to get more bulbs. Have them on order, waiting for them to come in. If I could get it a little more perfected, I think they would be a good addition to my things at the Mecantile! Thanks for the idea!

Oh this is something I really need to try. I love the pillar primitive candles and the bulbs but they are expensive.

They are really easy. I think the more I do the better they will get.
