Since the pandemic prices have gone up on raw materials . More than triple on some items . I think the baked shades that are made in Italy are probably no longer cost effective . In that case final cost should reflect that . If the palettes were one price with the baked shades why are they still the same price without them?

I just feel like Pat Mcgrath is no longer the special luxury brand. The indie market is just too good and paying $128 ($250 for me in Australia) for a sub par color story is just nuts. Unless she starts releasing new unique color stories soon, this brand will most likely fall off.
i think its aiming to be a competitor w charolette tilbury for a lux rosy high fashion makeup, but i agree... it's starting to lose it's original identity which set it apart from the rest
@laurasenz I purchased 8 lipsticks and 3 glosses, and don't like any of them! 1 went weird too, thought it might be the sub-tropical climate in QLD. I love her mothership V, but everything else I've tried of hers is a big thumbs down from me 👎

I think she has clearly been replaced by Danessa Myricks for special and creative eye products at a high price point. I'd still say indie is usually a better deal

My first MS was Divine Rose 2. I loved the tones, the quality, blendability and OH the baked glittery shades! Just fabulous. It got me hooked on Pat Mcgrath and I have so many palettes of her now.
It was also the first luxury eyeshadow palette I had ever purchased.
I noticed single baked shadows are very expensive (like Bobbi Brown's),
motherships used to contain 4 of those and then additional 6 'regular' shades and with the luxury packaging and quality, it justified the price for me.
I loved playing with these 'artistry' palettes, with the transformative topper shade. One could combine them with other palettes, jazz up a mundane eye look.
The sparkle and dimensionality in the astrals was insane, especially when the light hit. It's like you have a thousand mini-stars on your eyes.
I also noticed they didn't fade or crease, even on my oily eyelids.
I am thoroughly disappointed in what direction Pat went into and will not be purchasing motherships anymore.
I especially dislike them not being transparant about this, as well as reducing the quality of the packaging and smaller pan sizes.
Not to mention the deleting and blocking on ig, cancelled orders, bad customer service et cetera..
These companies are making it so easy for me to save my money! I definitely can get a similar look with the stuff I already own. Thanks so sharing. :)
You may be feeling what I'm feeling but I'm not going to be feeling anything until this one is marked down to $88 (as it will eventually). Aside from the rose overload, I am deeply insulted that she's removed the baked formula special shades which is what made the first 3 Motherships, imo. Awesome video as always.

There’s zero reason to pay $128 for this one. Plus the dang outer packaging looks too close to Huetopian Dream, if I’m being petty 😝. Which I am.
last year the thanksgiving sale was 40% off so i got motherships for 75. maybe this year will be the same. once in a while marshall’s or tj maxx have motherships for $40

Thank you so much for keeping it real and not being "diplomatic" like other CZcamsrs who seem to just want to be in good terms with the brand. You have our respect and support 🖤 . This brand has lost mine since they showed their total lack of respect for their customers by deleting comments and removing the people who were not into throwing them flowers for yet another uninspiring palette.

Your videos are the best!! I'm 55 but still live make up and am a Pat McGrath collector - you just saved me $128!so thank you. I would not use that dud shade on my lids. But truth be told I don't trust myself to not "add to cart" on one of her sales or during the Black Friday makeup mess I get myself into every year $$$ LOL!! Thanks again - you are just SO LOVELY, educational and entertaining.
I’m 50 and had no problems using the dud shade. Mine came today I used that shade to see if it was going to be bad. I used pats wand first and then pressed with my ring finger the shadow onto my lid. Gorgeous look. I’m glad I decided to pick this one up.
Great review Morgan, I think this palette would have to go on a major discount for me to purchase. Not even 80.00 will entice me. This might be the first mothership I don’t purchase. This color story is just sooo not my color story.
I would'nt be mad about the color story if the quality was there. The baked shades were what truly set her brand apart, and now that she's not offering them, she doesn't have anything to differentiate her palette from all the other pinks out there. And the way her PR team handled customer feedback by just deleting negative comments was like giving the middle finger to her customers. Cause guess what, if somebody is complaining that your new palette looks like all your other ones....they probably already bought your other ones. Are those really the customers you want to piss off?
NO MORE gold/pink for me. This is the first mothership I am not interested in. BRING BACK BAKED SHADES. How about purple and green pallet? If we don’t buy this pallet, maybe Pat will finally listen.

I don’t think PMG palettes are meant to be collected, they’re too similar, especially the golds, deep browns, and highlight shades. I love pink, but I’m disappointed this palette doesn’t have her baked formula.

Neither did her previous mothership, it seems that she stopped making them all together 😢
They originally were, which is why pat would sell them in bundles and would release a killing streak of different palettes. The issue now, is her investors are controlling what she releases. She made the most $$$ from DR1&2 and the investors wanted her to continue that route.

I’m really disappointed with this palette. The metal base has been replaced with gold plastic because there are no baked shades. The crimson shade swatches well but is terrible on the eye. But my biggest disappointment is the Amethyst shade because it is a metallic and is exactly the same formulation as the gun metal grey metallic in the Moonlit seduction, being passed off as a special shade. It reminds me of ND Love palette on the eye. It all ends up looking the same and I can achieve these looks from Heutopian Dream.

@@ultraviolettas your right it is a heavy plastic on double checking. My bad. However it has been replaced by a shiny plastic gold that is not as substantial because all the shades now have pans.

I already have Huetopian so I think I'm good. Even with that one I struggle to get a variety of looks. It's a good go-to palette everyday looks with an extra dash of glam, but I don't need any more rose palettes! I was waiting for your review :) Thanks, Morgan!
Interesting, for me Huetopian dream is super versatile, I can get bronze/gold look, pink, coral, smokey brown with the trichrome colour, fairy magical with the two amazing unbeatable sparkles and the highlight shade. I love it so much ❤
@@DreamingCimderellaI have 1,2,9&10, and Huetopian is my favorite. I like the others but I agree, the variety of looks is the best with that one. My last vacation I just brought that palette, not even highlighter or blush, and I was able to create a different look every day.
When the Mothership palettes first blew up on youtube years ago, the pricing was thought to be SO outrageous that the most important justification given by everyone was the baked formula. Now it's gone, but the price tag is even bigger! I won't even pick it up on sale personally

Nah, I've been bored to tears with PML - the colour stories and ridiculously chunky black packaging just aren't my jam anymore. So, seeing yet another pink palette being launched had me crying laughing 😂.
I reckon she's playing us for fools and believes she can throw whatever at us and we'll happily buy it. Hopefully, she'll see a downward turn in sales and (fingers crossed 🤞) she starts to actually LISTEN to us.
Had she taken the colour story on a more purple/lilac/lavender journey, this would've worked AND it would match with the outer packaging. What on earth was that dud red blitz shade doing in there? Again, a purple or deep lavender colour would have been much more suited.

I agree with you that it’s the pinkest palette she’s done. I think it’s pinker than divine rose 1+2 combined. In the promo pictures I didn’t think the matts looked as pink leaning I thought they were more brown and peach leaning. And the special shades just doesn’t seem to be as special as they used to be in the motherships. Also I don’t think the creamy shadows will last as long as the baked shades, the baked shades last for ever, but I have a feeling these new creamy shades will dry out. Oh Pat 😪
I only own a quad and quint from Pat. I like them but the glitter bukkake that gets all over my face makes me not use them. I don't think I will ever buy a mothership bc of the experience I have had with the ones I have. Maybe I'm missing out idk but I just don't get the hype. I know I know HOW DARE I say that!!!! 😂

Her first few motherships were the best. This looks too similar to huetopian dreams and the divine rose IMO.

While the red blitz astral looks chunky, the depth of colors it made your eye color change to is INCREDIBLE. Please wear this color more often! Wow

I wore the red shade out at the weekend as it was the reason I bought the palette (at 30% off thankfully), but it was weird and chunky. And even though it looked great once I got in on, it fell all over my face and creased up almost straight away. So sad 😢 xx
That is such a huge disappointment when usually her shades have such great longevity (apart from the beautiful red shade in bronze seduction which also creases and fades on me within less than an hour!)
Maybe she wants to boost sales of her new primer or that expensive sticky wand?
You should do a look with this palette on one eye and dupe it with one of her others on the other eye :)

I have the palette and it’s true. You don’t need the metal base because there are no baked shades.

As soon as I saw it, I thought “no, thank you.” I will pick up Motherships I, or II for the holidays.
I feel like the 2 looks you did, are pretty much it. It's really pretty, but worth it at a sale price. No way at full price. I would say the best dupe of this palette would be Patrick Ta Major Dimensions 2. Its about 1/2 the price too.
First I ordered this palette launch day lol I'm a Pat McGrath palette collector mainly mothership palettes! As one who absolutely loves pink looks I'm excited but I understand the frustration these palettes aren't cheap so I get it.. but hopefully soon she'll come out with something a little different and move away from just pink in her mothership palettes. And put another multi chrome shade in a lighter version than the last 2. But anyway I'm excited to get MS 11!! Got the primer as well lol 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷

If I have the option of Clionadh or Pat McGrath, I'm choosing Clionadh everytime. I can get all special shades and they don't have to be PINK! She just isn't exciting and I think she's trying to market to the masses.
This was a pass from me, but for the price point, i expect every shade to perform great. I'm so happy we have the smaller indie brands that are giving us more inspiration in their colour stories 😊
I do own many PM palettes and like them, but I prefer Natasha Denona palettes. I mean your getting so many shadows (yes smaller pans) but I’d rather have that option. It’s also a great price point for all the quality shadows you do receive. Plus, you can create so many more looks.

It's lovely! It's not as pink as people complain about. The lilac flaky special shade is just yummy. With the mattes and metallics you can create various eye looks!

One of the main reasons I didn’t pick this palette up (aside from boring color story) is missing baked shades 😢those were my favorites. So unique and pleasant in texture. Sad 😔

Oh yes! Pat did decadence.. palette full of metallics, wish she would give us a palette full of baked shades! I would even accept smaller pans for that!
I'm so but she's no longer doing the backed special shades 😓 that's what made her pallets so unique and expensive. But if she's no longer doing those baked special shades then why is it so expensive? The special shades are so common in indie brands for a fraction of the price😭
@@arielle_abarca there is a difference between multichromes and baked shades. Indie brands have multichromes yes, but not necessarily baked shades.
@@RoseOfMadina thank you for the correction I meant the "special shades" she's been releasing that are no longer baked seem comparable to that of indie brands. The baked shades are what set her apart from indie but since she's no longer including them her special shades don't feel so special if that makes sense. I still love Pat and collect everything she releases. And I'm still impressed with what she releases I'm just not as wowed as I once was

I do like this color story a lot, hence why the Huetopian is my favorite. And I love sparkly shades even if they are more flaky. Wish I could trade my divine rose 1 and 2 with this one honestly. That being said, I’m probably not going to buy this, although I really want that red shade
This is why you are my favorite! You tell it like it is and that is why your subscribers listen to you. Your thoughts were my thoughts exactly. It is almost the same shades as Huetopian but the special shades are more boring. Well I must be in the 1% of the population that isn’t a pink fan. It makes me look sickly. She and Charlotte Tilbury are my favorite brands, but I don’t buy all of CT’s pinks either. One pink pallet is MORE than enough for me, so my PM collection will be missing this one.

Hi Morgan. I made it a point to use the Crimson shade on my lid because it seemed problematic. I applied it with a dense and dry brush *gasp!* and it applied great. I was surprised. I have up IG Reels and the YT video will be aired tomorrow at 0700 EST. This palette surprised me. Thanks for the looks you created 🙂

Good work! When I first saw the palette I have exactly same impression about the color story! Also as you just demo that red chunky glitter even on the demo advertisement from Pat looks nothing special. Thank you for the video ❤
I’ve loved Pat McGrath for a long time and she will always be an incredible MUA, but I’m so disappointed at where her brand is going. The minute we saw the shades and swatches in this palette, I thought we were being punked. She truly releases a slight variation on the pink and gold theme every time and it’s ridiculous. This palette might be a good buy on sale for someone who has none of her palettes, but even then I’d recommend Huetopian Dream or any of her first 3 palettes over this one any day. How is she charging $128 USD for this without even including her baked formula and better “special shades”? I don’t know if it’s just the investors she has now that dictate this watered down vision of the brand or if Pat’s just lost interest in doing anything remotely reminiscent of the luxe, quality, smartly edgy brand she started with, but the magic is gone.
I was very pleasantly surprised. I’ve worn mine for 2 weeks no stop and everyday a different look. I’m not a fan of pink but the bronzes in the palette really change it up. I’m 44 and I didn’t get on with the red astral shade. I tried to apply it with a wet brush and that didn’t do it either x
It’s such a shame that red shade doesn’t live up to the quality we’re used to from pat, it’s quite unacceptable for this price point.
I don't have all of Pat McGrath's palettes. I have Midnight Sun, Sublime, Divine 1 & 2, Heutopian Dream, and Moonlight Seduction. And Velvet Liaison because it has every matte shade necessary to use with sparkly shades when I want to. I will not be picking up this palette. I heard that this palette has lowered the quality of the packaging by not including the gold metal plate on the back of the palette. And some people like the new astral blitz formula that she has included starting with Moonlight Seduction and others want the baked astral blitz formula back. Moonlight Seduction's astral blitz formula seems to be very sparkly but Sunlit Seduction's astral blitz shadows seem to be just a regular normal metallic/glitter formula (except for that red which is worse than even a drugstore glitter) that other high end brands have. And indie brands are out producing Pat with their metallics and glitters and duo/multi chromes. Plus, you're right that this color story is too monotone. There is no variety. After hearing what Pat's instagram team did to die hard fans comments, I will not be picking up this palette even on sale and I will definitely think twice before buying another Mothership because if I can't get better or equal quality for the same $128, I'll spend it elsewhere. Thanks for saving me some money!!!
Gosh i didnt realise it would be THAT simialr to huetopian dream. I think the time for collecting has stopped now. It will be someones favourite and im happy for them x
I bought when was the second glitch with 30% off delivery was pretty fast to uk but.. my eyes were very watery after using it and I don’t have sensitive eyes

I used to be a PMG Mothership collector, so when I saw the word "Sunlit" I immediately pulled the trigger thinking it would be a summery color story, then was completely dismayed when I saw it was another pink palette! I swear, I'll never buy another Mothership again unless the color story changes! Like you I'd love a purple palette! NO MORE PINKS, PAT! NOT SHELLING OUT ANYMORE FOR PINK!
I was hoping that the next mothership would be lavender and that she would add Lavendaring from Rose Risqué. We can only hope. I have the palette. It really is beautiful but I agree with your analysis.🙌🏾💕
