- Weekday night drive through downtown Los Angeles on my way to Santa Monica. Los Angeles host 50 million tourists a year! That's roughly 1 million people a week coming in to Los Angeles all year! So without all these visitors, it gets quiet. Video starts downtown and ends at the Santa Monica Pier. I left the highway footage in to show how expansive the city is.

As a European it always feels strange that downtown areas are so deserted at night, even before the virus. It's also different in some of the older East Coast cities.

they're deserted at night because of laws, business hours, and people are indoors partying somewhere. not strange.

@@ushavns Well it helped , it calmed me because I was really stressed at that time. But I get what you're saying that it's not okay to be in your phone or computer before you fell asleep. If that's what you said. But I think of it as parents taking their kids around the block in the car to make them sleepy. So it was relaxing because you didn't focus on anything really ,so it really is subjective.

LA is clearly the best city in the world. Mountains, beaches, busy downtown, international pull. No city is better.
The Hammer If you are able to afford the high taxes, absurd cost of rent and traffic jams that could take out 3 hours of your day, yes is the best city.

이성희 well yea I agree but Brazil had nationwide 50% positivity rates for weeks so they actually might have more cases. LA isn’t actually that bad anymore. I live in Orange County right next to LA and it’s much worse here.

What a pristine place it looks from the outside. America!!
Cool Video of Downtown. Sad about the virus, closing up stores making streets deadly quiet. Summer in Downtown is great especially with rooftop bars/restaurants and weekend concerts or movies at the park, baseball game watching in the bars. I like the drive down Broadway because the old buildings have accent lights to highlight its features as well as vertical blade signs. I haven't been to Downtown in 5 months, so nice seeing all the construction progress happening especially across the Disney Concert Hall. I also liked the city is paving the roadway making them nice and smooth and adding features like bike lanes or other traffic calming. If you go Downtown next time, please drive around the Arts District and Little Tokyo and Santee Alley. Thanks.
