Vacuum sealer with custom timer makes more reliable seals.
Few days ago I got second hand vacuum sealer. After some tests, it mostly works but every now and then the sealed bag has a leak. It's often caused by a wrinkle or contamination (moisture from food) in the bag. Common way people have solved this is double sealing... That refers to either making two seals next to each other or making two seals in the same spot.
My problem was cheap, poorly wrapped rolls that have wrinkles. Sealing same spot twice helps with this. Originally this vacuum sealer made me wait 20 second between two seals, while I wanted it to make double seals automatically after vacuuming. I designed custom timer PCB that works like the original, but adds double sealing function and reduces the minimum time between two sealing operations.

Just make double seal default and don't use single seal.

After testing this for a while now, I think you are right. I will soon assemble a PCB with some layout changes and fixes, at the same time I'll make double sealing default in vacuum+seal -function. Seal only -function will probably be kept the same, because I often use it to seal thinner bags which melt too much with double sealing.
