Teens with protective parents usually end up either pregnant or getting themselves involved with the wrong crowd. Your first parenting skill should be setting examples at home for your children to follow from an early age on then you wouldnât have to worry about being a protective parent while they are almost grown up.

I donât get why dads are so over protective with daughters I mean I have a brother and if he wants to go out with his girlfriend, our dad says ok be back at 8, but when Iâm going out with some of my friends (who are girls) he says ok but stay away from boys!!! Iâm 5 years older then my brother!!!

Ok, after reading all the comments I think that we should pay attention that a lot of the fathers are doing this because they know how the male brain works (I'm talking hormones people go look it up) and they want to protect their daughters from it. but they aren't always stopping them from dating, in fact dating at a young age is just ... sad... you should enjoy being a kid and not have to worry about relationship stuff till you have to. (im 16 btw) If I had a dad like this... with not only a great sense of humor but also a protective mindset, ready to be there for me when I try to date, I feel like heartbreak or other problems wouldn't be as prominent....

If I have a child when I'm older and a son, then I will say to him wait until your 25 to have a girlfriend because in PDHPE class, my teacher says male brains aren't fully developed until their 25 and I would want my son to make right choices and make mistakes of course because no one is perfect. My daughter would have to be 23 or 24 to get a Boyfriend. I just want my kids to have a childhood and teenhoood and not worry about relationships while they are young. They can worry about it when their adults or i n their 20s

In high school whenever I brought a new boyfriend home to meet my parents, my dad would conveniently be in the middle of sharpening knives, practicing archery, cleaning firearms, or shoveling in the backyard. My relationships never lasted long after these instances lol.
The reason my shorts are so short is because companies make them short. I literally have to wear shorts meant for boys or basketball shorts to reach the right length at my school.

Brothers and a fathers but fathers especially need to support their sister/daughter as she navigates this chapter in her life and should only be protective when the boy is actually abusive.

Let me answer because my lil sister already married and she had 3 brothers. What we did to her boyfriend just for help big boss (father), that my sister deserved a right person for her. Everything goes normal (i guess đ âïž) she know that we did something (kind of over protection) for her own good, that why she selective to choice her couple.
Our mom said that all things we do to her just for help her to see someone who really love her (not toying her). So far when she decide to marry, she's feel kinda princess at home đ... And now she had 4 y.o son (her husband is a fighter for her love, we glad our princess married to right person)
