- Fishing with crabs is a great way to catch a variety of species in the Summer. The mole crab or sand flea is a great option for free bait. They are reliable to catch on the beach and easy to put on a hook. Fish love them, you can also freeze them for future sessions.

I just started watching and really enjoy your videos. I live up in the north west corner of NJ. I do a lot of freshwater fishing primarily panfish now. Hurt my back a few years back I'm 60 yrs old and feel very blessed that atleast I can fish. Very hard for me to go down the shore. But I watch your videos and it brings back memories. THANK YOU
Hey big buck that is great you are getting out to fish! It is a healthy way to spend a day by the water, freshwater or saltwater. I love pan fishing too, especially for crappie. Appreciate you watching and hope you are out there catching them up in NJ
There’s nothing like the excitement of catching fish , it’s like you forget all your problems and you focus on those bites
Well said. I totally agree
Thank you...sharin' your fishin' experiences. Reminds us that life isn't as bad as "information people" want us to believe...tight lines, God bless
@@user-xu8ki2kn5x life’s incredible. The worlds just caught up on the wrong priorities. Appreciate your comment, cheers friend
great video, nice to see sand fleas work so well on fluke and porgy
They are such a great bait. Easiest crab to put on the hook and big fish love them too.
Back in the 70s when I was just a kid, I would catch loads of Sand Fleas but had no idea they were great bait. If only, I knew then what I know now, lol!!
They are awesome bait, pretty much all fish will go for them. Thank you Mark!
Love the content. One of my new faves for sure! Greetings from the Northeast!
hey inluvwitastriper, cheers. appreciate you watching the videos
Thanks for the content. Really strikes a chord with a local fisherman like me, especially since I don't get to get to go out lately.
Thank you for watching Max
Nice video again man! Wow. So nice to see and get inspired to go for saltwater fishing in NYC!
Have fun out there! Still got a bunch of time to catch them up. Thank you Yappow
Great vid👍
@@FinnNbonesFishing thank you Finn! Appreciate you watching the channel
Ha I love that spot. On the beach you can get blues fluke and stripers rn
I really like that area in the Summer. The vibes right and everything comes alive. Good ice cream selection too
Love this content giving me sea money fishing vibes
Thank you Masterinvesting, cheers bud
Another nice video! I cant find sandfleas in western LIS for the life of me. But I do find tons of asian shore crabs so i use them in a similar fashion.
Wet rag and ice pack keeps en lively for quite awhile works with killies too
I've looked around those areas and cannot find the fleas either. I think they need more undertow like the south shore provides. shore crabs work great, I do the same thing
@@BobAquatic that makes alot of sense. Ive found them on RI.
I like watching fishing from the east coast I live on the central coast CA keep the video's coming bro
Cheers bud, its a fun place to fish. Changes a lot during the Summer
@@BobAquatic I lived in PA for awhile and visited NY once, and was awesome.
Hey Bob! Nice back to back catch on the mole crab. You should have filmed how you caught them as part of your video.
Thank you AZ. I was thinking that while editing too. I'll film the process of collecting them in the next mole crab video.
Ijin nyimak bro
Would a bead between the hook and the one ounce sinker on the knocker rig help protect the knot? Fun video BTW.
For sure, those work. I stopped using the beads a while back when I realized I get more bites without them. I just re-tie the knot pretty often and check on it. Thank you for watching bud, cheers
Right by my house. 👍🏼
Have fun out there! Enjoy the summer in the city
Nice 💯💪
Thank you Joshua
Just found your videos today. Really enjoying them so far. Is making me want to get out there myself. Would you be able to recommend good spots for sea fishing in the city? Can you keep/eat the fish?
Thank you Johan, yes you can eat the fish as long as they are of legal size limit.
Good stuff. Maybe the wash from the ferry is like the tide moving the water, stirring up bait and turning the bite on?
I'd love to figure it out. The game fish seem to have figured out a way to use it to hunt. I think you are right about bait stirring up. Really interesting stuff, Thank you Ron
where is this
jigged a bunker this morning on staten hoping to get some striper tonite with it or nice bluefish
Bunker chunkin is where its at this time of year. Striper get lazy and will totally take it. Thank you Brett
Wow!! How do you avoid snags on that type of rig over there?
@@AOMilvado not too sure, just feel around I guess
hey man any tips on finding sandfleas would love to try them in this spot just dont know where to find them
Any beach especially south shore, just go up to where the water line is and as the tide goes out you can see tons digging holes in the wet sand
@@lochanssl2 This is the way. Thank you lochanssl2, great and simple way to explain it.
I keep a towel on top of the sand fleas thats wet with the ocean water. I’ve kept them alive in my garage for 3 day’s
A friend has done the same in a cooler with an (ice pack not touching them) and a wet towel.
I love the northern puffer, did you do a catch n cook with them yet?
Thank you Ralph, I am going to use your towel technique next time. Really appreciate that. Going to put the icepack underneath like you mentioned. Oh yeah I have eaten puffer. Really good. Not sure if I have done a video on it yet
Have you caught any sheepshead with the sand crabs
Yes I have, they work as great sheepshead bait.
@@BobAquaticyou got the sheepshead in Manhattan?
What time is a good time to fish that spot
@@charlestaylor2480 whenever your free. The tides change everyday so they’ll never be a good time, just gotta go fish
treat ya self man get the ice-cream
One day! I usually get it on special occasions and hit up my buddies ice cream truck. That areas loaded with ice cream trucks though, its awesome. Thank you smooveb191
