In this episode of Kitabwala, author and former IAS officer, Vijay Shankar Pandey shared his experience in bureaucracy. How he dealt with the cases related to corruption, and The book is an attempt to tell the full story of the historic action undertaken by the officers of the Uttar Pradesh IAS Officers Association in selecting the three most corrupt officers through voting by secret ballot from among themselves in the years 1996 and 1997 in order to address the rising tide of corruption and mal governance that was afflicting the administration of the state of Uttar Pradesh. The election of three most corrupt IAS officers of the state of Uttar Pradesh by the serving members of the most elite and powerful public service in the country was an unprecedented experiment in self purification not just in the annals of the Indian bureaucracy but maybe in any public service anywhere in the world. It was scarcely believable that such a thing was possible even at the time it had taken place but with the passage of time and with the direction governance and administration has since taken in our country it seems downright impossible to even think of something like it today. Though parts of the story are quite well known it was not possible to make all the details public as many key players were still in service. Most of the leading actors in the story have since retired from service and hence it seems an opportune time to tell the complete story to the public, with all its twists and turns.

I have read Supreme Court's judgement of 2013 in his favour. His termination was revoked and he was awarded financial compensation of Rs.5 Lakh. He was appointed Union Secretary (Petroleum). His son is an IFS officer (probably of 2009 batch). A wonderful human being and a great whistle blower. Despite being a bureaucrat, he had the courage to file a Writ Petition against corrupt practices and Supreme Court pronounced that echoing voice against corruption doesn't make him unbecoming of a government servant.
What about those who did wrong to him. I am sure they must have enjoyed their service without any harm
Heartiest Congratulations for the brief narrations of different events faced by the courageous and patriotic officer. Thank God such officer exists in my country INDIA or BHARAT. The daring action to protect honest officer is a very commendable job. I have also suffered a lot under political vendetta during my service and fought legal battle for 22 years. I am thankful to Honourable Courts for granting me relief after retirement . I was harassed by
IAS officers at the will of Politicians by not granting to me due promotion during my service. I have determined to fight till my life

For long I have believed that corruption in India is simply not a politician's game. Rather it is the bureaucrats who are the worst offenders because they don't have a spine to stand up to the politician as clearly stated by the guest. The real problem lies in the very selection of bureaucrats based on exams that they have been preparing for several years. A nerd is often spineless as most of them are! Fortunately a small minority do exist that do exemplary work.

No politician can be corrupt without involvement of Bureaucrats.

बिलकुल ठीक उदाहरण दिया था, सामान्य वर्ग के कर्मचारी को हजार करोड़ का घोटाले करने अवसर नहीं मिलता वो अपना योगदान 50/100/500 rs की रिश्वत लेकर देता है।
