We did this a year ago and love our tough top awning. We changed it in the convention center parking lot in Pigeon Forge Tn.

I was watching Big Truck Big RV and he features a high school band trailer remold. They did a lot of great things, but they wrapped the trailer, and it was spectacular! I think wraps are the way to go on exterior paint, it's also suppose to be so much more affordable than new paint.

You know what would look cool? Add awnings to you slide out windows.
That WOULD look cool. Actually, at some point our coach did have awnings over the slide out windows, but one of the previous owners changed that when they changed the slide topper. Maybe we will add new window awnings there in the future. -M

Yes know about the cold shower from water on top of the slide. I now have a standard practice, if it has been raining you can get water on top of the slide so I run the front jacks all the way up to drain off any water before putting the slides in or moving.
Yes, that is a good practice. I know some people's slides, especially drop/flush floor slides will tilt as part of them coming in. But tilting your RV off level for a bit before bringing slides in would definitely significantly reduce the water on top of the slides. Our coach doesn't have leveling jacks, so we don't have as much capability there. -M
@@Rvlove One thing you can do if you don't have jacks is to have a couple of leveling blocks. put 2 (I have used 2 on each side) where you can drive up on them to tilt the RV.
I had all my material replaced from Tough Top about 2 years ago and I love the 18 oz. material and the now that they have paved the parking lot that's so much better. We had 4 toppers, 2 window shades, 1 door shad & giant awning replaced.

Last year when I was down in Florida with you, my awning flap reducing tie down broke one night. I had noticed that it was getting bleached by the sun but didn't think of its strength being weakened as well. Well, it snapped and the awning ripped, and I needed a new one which I had installed this summer. Too early for your offer, but thank you for it anyway! I hope you get many years of good service out of your new awnings and toppers. Going to the Tampa RV show again?

Hi you guys!! Merry Christmas!! Very very interested in a new awning for our slide.. so is this a lighter weight wise material?? How much was it, if you don’t mind my asking! We just got in a windstorm in Winslow Arizona and it took out our slide topper. Back in California till February 1st..
Merry Christmas to you too. Sorry to hear your slide topper got damaged.The tough top material is much more durable than most slide topper fabrics. Prices vary depending on size and type. But tough top, despite being much higher quality, is actually less expensive than some inferior products. Ours was a big job, so materials on a job like ours would be close to $1000. Haha yes no point replacing them until they need it! Just don't leave it as long as we did or wait until they get THIS bad LOL. We had a long list of upgrades to make to our RV and inside was priority 1. Feels good to be getting to the exterior upgrades now! :) - J&M
Your RV looks great. I've wondered if you or others that have renovated RV's over 10 yrs old having any trouble getting into some RV parks that have an age restriction?

bill12.3 could you put something in the ends of slidtopers to keep it from flapping on windy days or nights? like phasic plugs may be. or do you pull in your slid in.
We have seen people put foam blocks or pool noodles under their toppers to keep tighter tension. Our old ones were the wrong size (too big) so there wasn't much to help those. Our new ones don't flap at all. But yes, in high wind situations, we will often recommend bringing in your slides to avoid damage to slide toppers, and also reduces rocking and noise as RVs are more aerodynamic with slides in of course. -M

They have over a 1000 watts of solar up there. Depending on their usage and the batteries/bank they have in the basement, that may fit their needs well. Many people mistakenly believe that the more solar you have upstairs the better. That's not true if you aren't using a fair amount of the solar and cycling your batteries to keep them nice and healthy, imo. But you are correct; they have a lot of real estate up there IF THEY EVER find that they need more power than they're presently using. Safe travels.
