Joel Quarrington Recital 2007 ISB Convention Oklahoma City

Joel Quarrington's Headliner Recital at the 2007 ISB Convention in Oklahoma City with the wonderful Dianne Frazer!
This is the first time we ever played together, and I think we only rehearsed once, which makes this collaboration all the more remarkable. Thank you Dianne! Our ensemble is impeccable!
Our program is;
G.Bottesini, Elegy,
J.C. Bach, Viola Concerto (begins 8.42") trans. Quarrington
M. Weinberg (26:00") Solo Bass Sonata 1971,
M. Gliere Four Pieces (46.37") Prelude, Scherzo, Intermezzo, Tarantella.
For years, I didn't think it was worth putting this out there because there is so much audible radio interference from all those enormous towers that encircle Oklahoma City.
However, I listened to it again tonight and changed my mind; I think it's pretty listenable anyways, please enjoy!

I have just been absolutely overdosing on these Joel Quarrington videos - particularly the online masterclass.
Such wonderful playing , super inspiring and majorly disheartening at the same time 🤦🏽‍♂️ knowing that as a beginner in my early 50’s , I can only dream about reaching that level. 🤯

Don't worry I got pretty good and had a little orchestra job. It doesn't really matter being good at the bass

So...I have a silly question...
Where do I buy a bass like this one?
I've never seen anything like this for sale anywhere.
They're all relatives of the Viol da Gamba family.
This one looks like a giant cello.

Not a silly question! Upton Bass is currently finishing an exact copy of my bass. It is a new model for them so write to Gary Upton at uptonbass.com and try to find out when it will be available.
