    I run Masters Track and had my best season ending early 2023.
    In the last 2 weeks before Nationals I only did 2 very short sprint session each week with only 2 or 3 starts or sprints for the session.
    In the last week the sprint volume was only 170m.
    No other work was done apart from this.
    I got huge PB’s in the 100/200/400, with the 400 being the biggest.
    That was the least I’ve ever done in the 2 weeks prior to competition but produced the best results by far.
    Will definitely do it again next season and not worried at all about losing any fitness during the very low activity taper.
    What I did do before that 2 week period though was a bit of functional overreaching to allow for a supercompensation effect from the taper. Just did more work in general and took a lot of saunas also to add more fatigue to the system. Seemed to work well.

    What times do your best 400m athletes have?

      I train sprinters not 400m athletes. The example is of 400m hurdler trained by my dad. I treat him in sports massage and muscle activation.
