      Yes it does. If you can find one at a good price, you need to buy it. It's crisp and can sound very analog too. Thanks.

    There is some magic happening in the upper frequencies on the 990 that hasn't been replicated in later Roland modules. Will never tire of listening to it. Those NK and Superluminal patches are a must - an excellent starting point for creating your own patches 🔥

    • @aristotlekumpis7095

      Agreed. It sounds magical. It is something that hardware has yet to be able to capture. Thanks for listening.

      @@aristotlekumpis7095 That's not magic, Just because vintage audio has better sound quality.
      People think that every time a new device is released, the sound quality will be better, but in fact it is just distortion, so the sound quality of new devices is getting worse and worse, making the sound unpleasant and uncomfortable.

      Along with the JD-800, these are the only two to have 44.1khz samples, the others had 32khz. That could be the reason!

    I own 3x JD990's since the mid 90's. They are the only synths I will never sell. No other (digital) synth can sound so lush and analog as the JD990. Grab one now because prices are rising and I expect them to be 2K+ within 3 years... [EDIT 2023] Those Nick Klimenko patches are top top !! (Bought them as well)

    • @aristotlekumpis7095

      Agreed. I won't sell mine either. I also have the SagaMusix data card that holds like 1000 patches. But I might have to think about buying another JD-990 in case mine goes down.

    • @autumnbrushtail
      @autumnbrushtail Před 2 lety +2

      I'm probably going to have to pass on the JD-990. Don't get me wrong, it sounds amazing, but at least at the moment, I'm not too fussed about Roland synths at the moment. I have been looking at an SY99, which I imagine most folks think won't sound as good as this JD, but just from reading its manual, I can see a ton of potential from it, both in retro and modern sounds, partly due to it having two filters per element. Idk it's cheaper from what I've seen and it's capable enough for what I'd like in my (admittedly small) collection

    The patches played in this video don’t seem the default ones inside the JD-990. Perhaps that NK are the initials of the programmer…

    • @aristotlekumpis7095
      @aristotlekumpis7095  Před 2 lety +2

      Correct. In the details, I stated that Chronos, or NK, designed those patches. They are not mine. You can buy them from Lfo.store. There are many videos out there that show the default presets. I wanted to show off how someone can get the best out of this synth.

    How do you like the Integra? Do you use it for different types of music - or just for a different sound/color? I’m guessing it sounds quite ‘modern’, next to the 990 … ?

    • @aristotlekumpis7095
      @aristotlekumpis7095  Před 2 lety +3

      Thanks for asking. The Integra has some really cool sounds. All the SRX cards, which has a lot of neat sounds. Plus, Roland released a bunch of patches for the Integra. The strings still hold up. And all the synth sounds are good. I wish the filter was better though. If you are doing commercial work or playing live, there are tons of sounds in there.
