This is my reaction/review for 'So Alone' by currents. This is the fourth single taken from their upcoming record 'The Death We Seek' which will be out on May 5th through @SharpToneRecords
This will be up there with the title track for me, which is my favorite, in terms of ranking the singles. I'm very excited with how this album is shaping up. What do you think?

God, this single is so good. I like how Brian doesn’t always do those insane lows. Because when he actually does them they hit way harder.

The new singles are good, however I don't know if it's just me or if it's just CZcams or Spotify, but the mix just feels a bit muddy to me. So for me this doesn't even come close to touching IA Heavener
i would agree! it’s slightly better on Apple Music but still muddy in the mix. i was the screaming was a bit different from a production stand point. that is one thing that would bring these songs up to an untouchable level for me. if they had Dan Braunstein on the thing? it would be a different story

Currents is my favorite band, just too good.
Based off the singles released, I’m expecting this new album by Currents to be my personal favorite of theirs with already a great discography. But like you, realistically it won’t touch I/A’s Heavener for AOTY..nothing will. But what a year so far for metalcore/deathcore. Great time to be alive

Heard it earlier today, really like these guys. They have some awesome "album"/ep art too 👀
turns out typing “dark souls castle” enough times in an ai generator can give you cool album art
this actually is not AI generated fully. it’s not AI used instead of an artist though. the artist who made the cover is the same one who did ILTDI, Jim. he used partial AI as a tool but digitally added in the details like the vortex, creatures, demons, etc.
Alot of songs with screams/grunts and cleans turn into poppy metal.
This track is not one of them; it is a sublime combination, same goes for the music.
Killer song.
I've always had trouble with the "What's your favorite band" question. That was until I heard Currents. They hit every spot. Love them so much. Every song is gold! Great vid!

The death we seek is still my favourite so far, but this is a close second, can't wait for May 5 🤘🏻

Love all the points you've touched on. Currents continues to be that one band that exceeds expectations for me. The band as a whole is constantly improving and with each new showcasing of those moments/ sprinkles you mentioned just cause me to fall in love more. The songs only get better the more you listen and that stands true with the older material today too.

not possible. CZcams video isn't out till later, you'll have to wait until tomorrow for the video.
Some very cool aspects to this track particularly the unclean vocals and some of the riffs. Overall though it's not making me want to listen to it much more. Would need to check it on Spotify for higher quality as the mix did seem a bit off.
for me the mix is off when it comes to the screams, they’re just a bit too muddy especially when you compare them with the singing. i wish they were more prominent in the mix and didn’t seem to be so distorted with the instrumentation
Currents and Invent Animate will be in close contention for Album of the Year
