As a SJU fan I have to say we got little lucky at the end of regulation to win this game. Not because of questionable officiating as the "unbiased" Dennis keeps claiming, but because Hoyas shot themselves in the foot a couple times down the stretch. They should have closed out the game because they had it in their hands. Anyway, I guess you can call this a character-building win for the Johnnies, but they still need to play more consistently. Why did they wait until overtime to get their run and gun offense going - I mean, there were so many stretches where they just stood around without moving the ball, and then getting into a forced iso situation. I think they have the talent to be top 20 this season and easily get into the NCAA but they need to be more consistent.
Watched for a minute or two and something was missing...Mac is explosive, AKinjo is cool but limited...where the horses?! Squad seem slow without mac....Good Game Thou lol
Dawner James Mac is the Hoyas best athlete, most explosive player and best pure scorer. They spread the ball more when McClung isn't playing, but sometimes you need that one guy who can go off and get his own shot.
@@bigstink9 Your correct and they dont have a choice in spreading the floor...and you do require 1-2 line to line athletes to push to the next level. I loved watching him sprint the floor. Eazy Peezy 4.4 - 4.2 speed
Yes sir the Appalachian assassin mcclung would have helped gtown in that game. I grew up about miles from gate city where Mac is from. We have lots of really good athletes like him in tgem South West va hills. Most city folks don't understand dont know that were are not just white people livin down in them Appalachian hills. Many folks are mixed with lots of Native American blood lines which produces pretty good athletes.
@@harolddenton6031 Harold, I've seen a lot of "natural" athletes as a former D1 collegiate running back. They're the guys who just have that..."extra" that always makes you shake your head in disbelief. McClung's one of those "natural" athletes. He just has some athletic qualities that good athletes like Govan, Akinjo, Leblanc will never have. Anyone need only look at some of McClung's plays. Against Syracuse, I think, he drives down the lane and, somehow, he turns his back on a taller defender and flips an underhanded shot over the defender's outstretched hands. Man, you're either born with that or you're not. McClung can become a real star...
Down in that area of Eastern Tennessee, rastrtn just and Southwest Virginia we have a breed of people that's called melungeons which are tri-racial at a minimum who have been living in those hillsides since the mid-1700s. So we have a lot of good athletes come out of that region over the past 40 or 50 years. Do you ever remember hearing of a Florida State basketball player in the mid-80s by the name of Granville Arnold? His family had a lot of Cherokee blood in them and the kid was six foot six and I saw him easily do 360 dunks from one step inside the foul line. His older brother Rodney Arnold was even a better athlete then him.
@@harolddenton6031 I feel really bad for McClung. He was right on the verge of asserting leadership of the team. Everyone roots for him. He's a hero. Now, he has to stare adversity straight in the eye and overcome... that's what defines a true hero. Let's hope he does. I'm rooting for him!
Big win for Georgetown. I still say Akindo #5 the point guard makes too many mistakes at crucial times in the game. He doesn’t pass the ball to the open man in a good shooting position. His decision making is terrible! I still say McClung should be playing point guard. Patrick Ewing HELLO figure it out. Ray Charles can see that. 🤨
I am from Maine and decided to watch this game. I did not care who won but this was highway robbery. This game never should have gone to OT. With 16.8 seconds on the clock and GT up 3 points, SJ fouled GT and officials refuse to call the foul...that simple officials blew it and they knew it. GT should have been up 4 instead of 2. This is unacceptable at 5his level and these officials should be talked to and more.
robert logiudice first, I am no college basketball fan and actually first game watching this season because of illness or I would be certainly doing something else. Obviously, you are all fans and biased at that but anyway. I just watched play again before writing and actually you could have called afoul on both individuals and if not for the steal, the coach of SJ would have been screaming for lack of call. But then again. Just my opinion, enjoy your college BB. Other than the officiating a good ball game.
Been waiting long time for this...go redmen
Great game
Let's go Johnnies!!!
The Big East has always had great basketball and these two teams have legendary players as coaches now, Ewing and Mullins

Wouldnt made a difference, Mullins wouldve put one of his lanky 6'6" guys on him and Mchype wouldve made no difference.
Georgetown wearing blue uniforms and pink shoes???
