they launch in Mid Sept, and never last 11 weeks. So they never see the second week in dec or 0F degrees. As a kid, I worked hogs and cattle at -20F, with LESS clothing than they get to take and I didn't know to use dry grass/moss, 1/4" thick layer of it between each layer of clothing. After day 30, there's very little left to do (if you've hustled) and after day 60, there's no reason to leave your shelter. Make a small basket, half full it with dry, loose dirt. that's your chamber pot. when you DO have to leave the shelter, empty the pot into the latrine-trench, cover the wastes, add more dry dirt return the pot to your shelter.

Once it gets cold enough to need to wear the coveralls, it''ll also be too cold to be out on the raft. You only need half of your heavy-duty, reflective 12x12 ft tarp and some of the big roll of duct tape. This leaves plenty of tarp material out of which you can make 3 pairs of pants. One of the pants sometimes gets used to haul 5 gallons of water to your camp. You'll have the 2 sets of longjohns, stuff a 1/4" thick layer of dry grasses or mosses between the 5 layers of clothing and wear the reflective tyvek bivy, too. Wear all of this clothing in the tent, have a raised pole bed and stuff the interior of the tent with dry debris. Do all of this and you'll sleep fine down to freezing temps, in just the tent, or work outside just at 30F. No heat-source is needed inside of the tent, nor is a sleeping bag required. When it gets colder, you'll have to winterize the tarp and tape tent with a layer of dry debris on the outside of the tent and cover it with the producer's 10x 16 ft tarp.

you don't need or want a fire inside of your shelter. You don't need a heat source (ie, hot rocks) inside of your shelter until your last 2 weeks of this challenge. You don't need or want more of a shelter than a winterized tarp and tape tent, which you can create in 12 hours, 3-4 hours at a time, once per month. Don't make it much better than a coffin, so your body heat will warm it (given lots of debris insulation). For the first month, you can use the producer's 10x 16 ft tarp as a plow-point work-pavilion. Day 30 or so, you'll need to add the external pole frame and the 6" thick layer of dry debris to the outside of your tent. then you'll need to use the producer's tarp to cover that debris vs rain. About day 60, you'll need to convert that tarp into a 6" thick debris-stuffed "sleeping bag" and use 3 layers of 2" thick WET debris to cover the dry debris on the outside of your tent. Do the first layer at dusk, let it freeze all night. Next day, add the other 2 layers, letting each layer freeze solidly before adding another. By then, t't'll be too cold for rain to be a threat.. Remove enough of the debris-stuffing from the inside of your tent to let you put the debris-bag on the raised pole-bed and then replace as much of the debris as possible.. Have the reflective tyvek bivy inside of the debris bag and leave all 8 layers of clothing ON while you're inside of the shelter (once it's truly cold)

bears in the wild give human a wide berth. your scent, activity and smoke scare them off for at least a mile. So you've got to be able to bait them within 10m of your tree blind. That means you've got to have a 100 lb pile of whole fish and fish parts in a stake and log box, so that only a bear can access that stinking pile. Bears can smell such a bait for miles and that's what you've got to have in order to reliably get a decent bow-shot at one. This is NOT luck, like having a moose or musk ox stumble-onto your little 2.5 sq miles of allotted land. Catching that many fish, quickly enough, before the bears hibernate, requires that you make a lot of netting out of the rope hammock, know how to best use it and make the pontoon outrigger raft (in one day) To do the latter requires that you stuff the 3 coveralls and the backpck with dry debris, sew and tape their seams, and lash them to the 8 log framework of the raft. Each such pontoon will float a big man, so it wont matter if the logs wont float.

You should watch Australia, it's worth it, first season winner is one of the best. UK isn't worth it. This was a solid premiere, really liked Cubby.

How do you think Bhanu would do on Alone?

I think you need to watch the show 2 or 3 times so you have a better grasp of what happened when you do your recap.
