I tour on my CBR1000RR and always love to find others touring on sport bikes. As for riding a long day, every touring rider IMHO, should do at least one 1,000 mile day just so you know what it's like. You never know when some emergency will need to get you somewhere in a hurry. It's not so much about how far it is, it's about your mindset when you start the day and knowing what you have to do and do it safely.

1000 miles in one day?!?! Holy cow! 300-400 miles I think would be my limit. At least that's what it is for me in a car. Perhaps it will be different on my Busa once I start riding it. Currently getting all the "goods" put on it.

Any, and all of those riders who have not rode through those Western states, especially those flatlander prairie states have any idea just how hard those crosswinds can be. I have rode from KY to SD, WY, MT area a few times on BMW's, and I have never, and do not ever expect to get accustomed to those cross winds. One on a ride back from Canada through either MN, or WI riding on a Yamaha, Virago, long ago, not experienced at all with those cross winds, a gust hit me from my right, and instantly put me into the left lane, thank God the guy coming up behind me in the left lane slowed down, and did not collide into me...

It was 20 gusting 35 knots crosswind my entire time on Interstate 40. My abs, hands, and inner thighs were stupid sore the next day from hanging onto the darn bike. I was taking breaks every 30 minutes. Will say, the added 160lbs on the Busa was a Godsend for the return trip. With the cross winds I had in this video I don't think it would have mattered but in other scenarios it would make a difference for sure I think how much depends on the rider. I'm 6ft tall but I know others that ride sportbikes and are 6'4 some even taller and bar risers would help them a lot I think. I've since installed a taller windscreen and it helps. As for securing the bike I bring it in the room with me which means I have to find a decent motel with a room on the first floor which isn't always the easiest.
