I am not American myself, but I do sort of tell the differences of accents between the states but sometimes I can hear two completely different state accents, and I could never tell unless someone told me, but I could never tell again if I wanted to if that same person did not explain to me how on earth are these two accents are different when I literally can’t hear any slight change of tone in their voices even when I focus, trying to listen carefully I just can’t hear it like, how on earth do Americans tell the differences in these cases???
Are they born and raised *(aka trained)* to hear certain hidden tones [of voices] non-americans can’t hear???
*I just don’t get it, I never did…. but I am waiting for someone to demonstrate and explain it to me because I’m either missing something, or I’m just incapable of telling the differences without training (or constant exposure to voices) probably.*
