  • The second video from my recent visit to Newcastle features clips from platform 2 of the station, mainly at the west end. The date was the Monday of the extreme weather warning for heat and it was very hot so I wasn't moving about much and tries to stay in the shade when possible. The heat further south had brought speed restrictions so northbound trains were running quite late.
The LNER Azuma sets look quite classy in this setting.

Very busy railway station. Unlike Manors that is just north of Newcastle station that sees lesser trains stopping except it’s mostly served by Tyne and Wear Metro. And only some Northern trains call at Manors.

Newcastle station is dying its looking very sad and , I would like to see more platforms open, I want to see more freight trains come through, nothing left of that station. All the sidings have gone. No logo hauled trains ever come through, it makes me cry, what they have done to that station. Every time I go there, it’s very bleak.

Everything was disrupted due to the hot weather when I was there so I can't comment. The metro system has taken a lot of the former suburban services. I noticed that the bus network also seemed quite comprehensive.
