You and Matt showing up to recover together is the damn dream team. That's like having the marines and navy show up to launch your boat from the marina
Rory and Matt W. Remind me of Steve Erwin . They do a great job explaining everything they do, and do their best to keep the mountain sides clean from garbage . Pretty cool 👍👍
That was genuine appreciation by the customer. Rightly so. Nobody local would help. He admitted to not being qualified to do the recovery himself and asked for help. The Jeep is out. ZERO damages as opposed to resting at the bottom of that cliff. Both crews thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Winner, winner!
@@JimBergman1 It was cool to watch a green line go from here to there and then Rory says "got to get some un edible doughnuts" I usually spell it donuts" noun form.
I agree with you on that ! To watch this from both helped me to understand a little bit more about what it takes to do some recoveries and the time it takes to do them !
Really enjoyed the customer on this one. Truly wanted to learn and was super polite. Thanks for showing us. (Not all of us California folk are bad, we promise you that)
Matt truly trust you with his life, Rory! Rightfully so. Between the two of you, so many funky extractions, and fusterclucks. Great dudes to have around!
The Jeep owner in LA got the best two recovery specialist in Utah. Rory and Matt are the best without a doubt and they shared some knowledge with the young man.
Love this version Rory 🙂 Nice hearing from your customer (and warning about ticks) and his honest intention to learn from 2 of the best... and such a well spoken testimonial too... :-) I was amazed at the stress/pressure on that right rear tire/wheel 🙂 and Matt got top learn simplicity from the best too ... sometimes a nail deserves more than just a hammer😂🤣😂 Now that Matt has used your headsets Rory, maybe he will replace his walkie-talkies with the real thing
So great to see two teams working together, solving problems and getting things done. True gentleme having a good time and helping people. The world needs more of this. 💚 💛
Two awesome men that are totally professional. With there combined knowledge...anything is possible. Of course lest not forget Mike and Shawn...Rorys right hand men.
Rory is the man showing all how it's done In California!!! I lived there and miss the scenery, but it has been unfortunately destroyed for polical greed...
Love this video of Matt and Trail Mater team...Rory and Shawn working together on these two recovery's . Matt knows that Rory has much more experience at trail repairs so he let him take the lead and helped with the welding, etc. Having fun and both teams ready to get out of the LA SMOG ASAP!
Good to see the correct approach to winch the jeep out, often times the yank it method is not the thing to do. GOOD to see Matt contributing to a good recovery. Thanks Shaun for supervising..
The first customer got some good first hand experience on what the buggy can do and how he can think differently about self recovery. He was a pretty chill dude. Rory, Shawn and the Buggy definitely showed how it's done.
Two of the most ICONIC off road recovery guys go to CA and do their thing. I mean, it had all the elements of recovery and always smiling. Rory's buggy in his hands just conquers whatever the obstacle he puts his mind to.. Johnson Valley rocks are WAY different than MOAB...
Great double recoveries and showing how very different they can be . Awesome rigging on the rubicon and even better answers to the customer on how he can do better in the future. RORY GAVE A HAT AWAY!!!! Never knew you could use the welder as a cutting type torch.
Matt and Rory This was a very special rescue. The comradery, The customer and his girl friend. I also watched Matt's channel on this rescue. All very humble. Lovely to see. We need to see you all working together like this. Thank you so much.
Somehow this one feels familiar, like that maybe I watched the same recovery yesterday. 😉 I like your version better. I especially liked how you showed how to rig the winch line to properly pull that Jeep up out of there. You made it look fairly easy, but only because of how carefully you hooked it all up. Trail Mater is currently my number one most favorite CZcams channel. 👍
I lived about 20 miles east of Palm Springs back in 1973 and you could literally watch the smog roll in like a fog bank on Sunday afternoons. I’m 3 hours from the nearest freeway now and don’t miss that stuff at all.
Is a master class to watch the expertise differences in Matt from a sand environment versus Rory of Moab edge-banded trails or narrow passages, rutted with rock fragments and boulders. I personally like the scenic footage by Trail Mater. But it took an invitation from the affable Matt to allow this to happen. Kudos to all and the appreciative customer.
So, Rory the king of recovering Jeeps in MOAB is now taking on Jeeps in California that only he and Matt will attempt to recover and get it out in one piece and still have time to do some rock crawling before lunch. HAIL THE KING!!!
8:20 Few years ago I was driving through some farmlands and felt/saw something come through my window and hit me in the chest. Looked around and couldn't find anything. Then about 2 minutes later I feel something on my arm and see this *MASSIVE* horse fly crawling on me, thing had to be the size of a cherry tomato. I damn near crashed when I saw it 😂😂
I love how you guys all get along and joke around!! It's real fun to get up in the morning have a cup of coffee and watch you guys laugh and have fun! And that master class of winching and block and tackles was quite intriguing as well. I always seem to learn and laugh when I watch your channel. Those are good things!
Rory, I've been here many times, jumping a Lambo off that Hollywood hill!!! 😃GTA Mid night club was another good one for racing a round LA!!🙂 Rory is still best recovery guy/team on CZcams, period!!😎💪
Rory, with the recovery of the 2nd vehicle I watched Matt's video of it before this and I think you did it better as you told us and showed us what you/Matt was going to do and how.. whereas Matt just brushed over it and then we saw him cutting something... there is a lot to be said about telling a story and showing it which you and your editing team to better than Matt and his team do. Great teamwork always makes things work out better... I liked the part where you all discussed the recovery and then showed how to do it with just one vehicle and the rigging. The young guy asking about how he can rig it better is a great thing and showing that was also educational for others to see and hear... It is never wrong to ask questions when you do not know. This video definitely shows the 2 different editing styles of each of your channels.
Rory, we used to fly from Arkansas to HelL.A. every couple years to spend Christmas with our grandparents. We would get close to L.A. and the pilot would point out the big reddish-brown, mile deep cloud about 30 miles in diameter as being our destination. A few miles from exLAX. we would descend into it and sometimes land on instruments only, no visibility. As soon as they opened the cabin door, everybody's eyes would instantly start watering from the smog. Today, they have only about 10% of the smog they had in the '60s. Be happy! Good play, Shawn. Keeping the ferocious beauty calm. ;) (The 2 things I miss about California are the gorgeous women and the gorgeous scenery. // WOW! Matt has a full head of hair beneath the usually glued-on ball cap.
I love how all the different recovery teams are willing to travel to support each other as backup and work together to salve people in troubles problems and then they go play for the rest of the day and have fun.Keep up the good work and best wishes.🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊
If my RV develops issues in the rocky Mountains 100 miles above the border in Canada I"m calling Rory and Matt to recover and maybe fix my 1986 Itasca , like this channel !!! I'm at at hot springs in the Columbia Valley,, head waters of the mighty Columbia River
Thank you Rory , Shawn and Matt for the adventure and great recoveries ! A special thank you to Rory for taking time to show us and young man in first recovery how to possibly get out on your own with proper equipment ! Not many people do that now days ! Shawn thank you for sharing the beautiful scenery on the trips even if at times it makes me have a small anxiety attacks at times ! I had a few traumatic experiences as a child in places like that ! I get to go places with guys that I know that I wouldn't be able to otherwise !
I didn't think anything has ever been difficult for Rory, after watching him at 24 Hell and Back. Rory now has the PhD in rock crawling and recoveries.
Seen back door on a hundred vids…lol! Butt seriously seeing RORY!!! Struggle on it makes me understand how gnar it is in a whole new way! Great vid boys🤙🏽🤙🏽aloha from Maui
I like the customer, asking how to improve and how to do it by himself next time.
The customer certainly made the right choice by getting help, it was a nasty spot he was in.
"How do I not have to spend a LOT of money to someone else in the future" overkill is the answer. Prepare for everything😂
I am betting he ordered a couple of inedible donuts and soft shackles as soon as he could. And if not subscribed to Trailmater, he is now. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
@@papatomsthoughts He's gonna need a new winch rope too in that case.
Hers my question- could you get that Jeep out by yourself with what he had with it? Assuming it ran for winch juice of course.
relief to know that there are polite and humble young men still in America
A great thing to see
Hopefully he laid some pipe before he called for help. That's why he was out there to begin with.

The young man was a gentleman. He was polite and showed good judgement.
I thought he was in Utah and Mormon.
❤😊❤
Rory teaching and then being a dad to the kid that was stuck. Always willing to help and teach.
Thank you Shawn for asking her what her thoughts were!! It's all about content...haha!!
Not even sure what she said but I enjoyed all of it. Weeeell done Shawn!!!
I know what the audiences thoughts are to that question.
LOVE seeing a Mater and Matt video. Make one a month and you guys will RULE tube
The kid with the jeep seems like he has his head on his shoulders, good for him for calling experts when he knew he was in over his head
The Rory and Matt show - if between the two of them, the rescue or recovery can't be made, no one can do it. Great guys and great video
"I super over prepared. I brought Shawn" hahahaha Rory you kill me.
Rory does not play with the triangle of death!! Badass
I like the way Rory decided to school the young man on how to self recover his Jeep. The young man was pretty cool.
That was genuine appreciation by the customer. Rightly so. Nobody local would help. He admitted to not being qualified to do the recovery himself and asked for help. The Jeep is out. Justin is killing it with the edits and graphics.
great job with the rigging diagram!

Nicest guy to recover ever, so thankful
Really enjoyed the customer on this one. Truly wanted to learn and was super polite. Thanks for showing us. (Not all of us California folk are bad, we promise you that)
It's a great morning when you can watch Trail Mater with your coffee ☕️ Rory and Shawn are the best 👍
Matt brought the wrecker all that way almost for nothing Rory and Shawn for the the win
Mat got schooled by Rory and Shawn🤩
Don't forget Mike and Justin! Great team!
I like that they turned this recovery into a teachable moment for the kid, not just show up and get it done
Teachable for anyone watching too. And Justin and his new Graphic presentation, perfect "etch a sketch" in green on our screens.
Shawn with the most heartwarming and contagious laugh 🤣 😂 I have ever heard.
Never stop.
Nice of you to go look after Matt. You take your eye off him for one second though and he's nearly hurting himself.
