    I really like the SE I've been trying to decide between these two, I really need to have Wifi Calling and the option of Volte with the phones as I have Tmobile. Do either of these phones have this option?

      @donavonhornbeck  Před 6 lety +7

      Great question! I wish I would have included that in the video now... The Nuu G3 has WIFI calling and VoLTE, but I can’t find either on the Mate SE.

      The mate se has volte as I'm using t-mobile, but it doesn't have wifi calling as a feature.
      To find volte on the mate se, go to settings, press more option below mobile data, then hit mobile network and you'll see the volte setting.

      I dont understand what is wifi calling. Does it mean I wont receive calls while using the wifi? Will it make calls from whattsapp on wifi?

      wifi calling is when you don't have network signal but are connected to wifi. You can still make calls.

    The both have their pluses and minuses, personally I got the G3 and I am happy with it, remember, it is a $200 phone and cannot expect perfection. One more thing to consider, while the G3 is a beautiful looking phone, once you put a case protector on it such as the Tudia Merge, it looks like any other run of the mill plain jane phone.

    • @donavonhornbeck
      @donavonhornbeck  Před 6 lety

      Glad you are liking your G3. Like you said it's a solid device for only $200, and has a lot packed in to it that most phones at $200 don't have.

    The Hauwei Mate SE and Honor 7X have been kind of a let down for me, since I have been looking to upgrade from my 5X after 2 years. Seems like the performance is a little better than the G3, but still missing dual band wifi, NFC, and USB type C makes it tough. Feels like the only upgrade would be the screen, and RAM/ROM. Seems like just small incremental upgrades. Great comparison! Go Blue!

    • @donavonhornbeck
      @donavonhornbeck  Před 6 lety

      You are pretty much dead on with your entire evaluation. I think it's great that Nuu included so many features into the G3, but you do have to deal with a slower processor. It would have been nice for Huawei to include those features on the Mate SE at least, personally I would have been willing to pay $300 for such a phone.

    Why they decided to go for a 720p screen on the G3 is beyond me. This phone could have soared with at least a 1080p display. Especially with all the bells and whistles it already has. Mistakes like these is why some devices dont perform to a desired standard. A wider color selection would have been nice too.

    Make sure you specify full screen specifications. 1080p means 1920x1080, but seeing as the mate se is not that, please make sure not to lead people on with improper specs. The mate se (which I'm using right now) is 2160x1080p which is a big difference in quality vs traditional 1080p as well as the pixel density being higher stock. Also the nuu g3 isn't traditional 720p. Again improper information. It's 1440x720. Also that's a big difference in pixel density and the screens are different so you can clearly tell the difference between the two. Just wanted to point that out.

  • @Neanderthal75
    @Neanderthal75 Před 6 lety +6

    I have a NUU G3, I got it before amazon had it and got it a lot cheaper. Here is my problem. While it's stock android, the phone is got some bugs. Camera sometimes won't focus and the camera app feels kinda cheap and unrefined, although it does make good pictures with good lighting conditions. Auto brightness is also seem to be bugged, it keeps changing while I'm staring at it and it can get annoying. I tried out the Honor 7X (which is like Mate SE just less space and ram) and I have to agree that the Huawei is a better value here, despite the shortcomings with the micro-usb and slow charging. I am also an Android purist, but EMUI is nicely evolving and feels a lot better than Touchwiz for example, but not as raw and featureless like stock android. Also Huawei does offer updates, I have yet to see (if ever?) any kind of updates for the NUU.

    • @brianbadonde9251
      @brianbadonde9251 Před 6 lety +3

      BG TechLife the human eye can't distinguish between 720p and 1080p. The only thing your mind notices is the pixels are clearer. 720p is still good, it's not like watching on a potato

    • @daevster6663

    • @daevster6663
      @daevster6663 Před 6 lety +3

      Sure thing bud, but yaaaa the first time you didn't include "perfectly" and as far as clarity goes, I'd say an additional one million-one hundred and fifty two thousand pixels on a screen is something many would consider...
      *significant*

    • @brianbadonde9251
      @brianbadonde9251 Před 6 lety

      Daevster 666 For a phone screen that's not even close to the amount of pixels that would be added on a 1080p screen, it's too small. The human eye can't notice the difference between 1080p and 720p unless you use one for a while and then switch to a lower or higher resolution. It's an overrated stat anyways, resolution doesn't necessarily mean it's better or worse unless it has like 240p or QHD+ then those two would be significantly different. And bud is still an ugly term, you should remove it from your vocabulary

    • @brianbadonde9251
      @brianbadonde9251 Před 6 lety

      Daevster 666 To the human eye, there could be a billion microscopic pixels and the difference wouldn't be significant. If you have an exact size for each pixel and can prove through scientific means that the difference is visible, then go ahead and get a research paper published or something. There's so many variables on a screen like build quality, backlight, LCD vs LED etc. So to just say "hurr durr there's more pixels so you can see them" is a stupid argument, if you want to talk stupidity. Judging your vocabulary has nothing to do with you as a person, but feel free to be triggered
