The newly inaugurated Kilambakkam bus terminus near Chennai will cater to one lakh passengers and see the operation of 2,310 buses daily, according to officials.
The Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus (KCBT), opened to the public on Saturday by Chief Minister M K Stalin, has been built at Rs 393.74 crore on 88.52 acres of land in Kilambakkam on the national highway connecting Chennai and Tiruchirapalli near Vandalur in the Chengalpet district.
Touted to be India’s largest bus terminus, it is expected to address the traffic congestion within the city, especially around the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT) at Koyambedu.
