It really does make sense in context (Though its just as weird) and it isnt as dark and brutal as this makes it out to be. It is however, just as over the top and dramatic as it seems

Part of the reason JoJo works so well with out-of-context clips is that the whole point of the show is almost every character has an extremely, *extremely* specific superpower with its own ruleset that results in situations that could only ever happen if someone had that specific superpower. Except for most scenes involving licking stuff. That almost never has anything to do with superpowers.

You are wrong about Kakyoin and the cherry. The narrative purpose is this: There is a shapeshifter on the loose, and now Kakyoin is behaving strangely... I got it, that's not Kakyoin! (it is one of the most obvious clues that makes Jojo suspect it, and, it is indeed an imposter). Later in the episode it is turned around as a gag, since the real Kakyoin also does this with a cherry, so it turns out the shapeshifter imitated him perfectly and the reason Jojo figured out the shapeshifter didn't even apply, because his friend is just a weirdo that plays with his food... It is basically a clue, a red herring and a gag at the same time.
@@MrMcBaine1 It's exactly the fact that the real Kakyoin does it that makes it serve no narrative purpose. You could have removed that part entirely and the story would have still had the same conclusion since the shapeshifter(Yes I know the plot of the episode) did plenty of other weird things and there were many other clues.
@@Ashurman666 But even if you say it doesn't count as a clue, since the real one does it to, it is still a gag, the setup being the shapeshifter doing it (coded as a "clue") and then being revealed as acurate (the punchline). I agree that it didn't have to be there to drive the plot forward, but that is not the same thing as not having a narrative purpose.

Honestly i want someone to make a "X witchout a context but i give the context back" to just see the initial reaction, and then get explained. I know that wouldnt work for everything, but for Jojo for example it would be nice to let the person watching the reason to why this is happening. Maybe im just distraught that mathew is literally panicing for solid half of those, for a reason yes, but still.

When I tried watching the out of context, I was like "oh this stuff is just normal." That tells you all you need about the show
this is the only show where spoilers dont actually spoil anything. i could tell you every single thing that happens in this show and it would mean nothing to you
I forget the fact jojo gets more bizarre the longer you watch it, so I was eased into the insanity.... this just made me feel psychotic when I tried to explain the scenes in my head
The "tea party" was actually a hangout between two students in the same grade. The boy is just a late bloomer.
Context to that first scene: the womam being punched is the main character's mother, committing the disasterous mistake known as pouring a glass of water. And the stand punching her is the main character's stand, controlled by the main character. She didn't even know what had happened afterwards.

I just saw this in my feed and I'm already cackling inside.
Jojo is about people who have life energy that manifests as apparitions/supernatural powers known as stands.
Each stand gives the user their own unique power, the stands are kind of like pokemon in that people use them to fight.
Stands are an extension of the original power system in Season 1 called Hamon, which is life energy kind of like chakra that is used to fight off vampires - specifically a vampire called Dio.
The reason that the men were in that compromised position at 6:32 is because another stand user used their power to make them magnetise together.
All of the prominent people in the show are from a lineage stemming from Jonathan Joestar or JoJo's.
They all inherit the power from their forefather who was the original man who fought Dio from the victorian era, as time passes and the threat of Dio and other vampires are dealt with, however the power of Hamon and stands remain all the way up to the 21st century leading to some wacky fighting, gangs and all out brawls.
Even from just a few clips, he can tell Hayato has a rough time.
At 2:18 Giorno transformed one of the guy's guns into a banana. So when he peeled it and ate it, it turned back into a gun. At 20:12 A serial killer turned into water and tried to kill Josuke from the inside out. So he tore apart a rubber glove beforehand and ate it so he can reassemble it when the killer went into his body capturing him and fusing him into a bolder.
I just love the quiet giggles and laughs from Andrew in the background 😄 looks like at least someone watched JoJo

Kingdom hearts is also a gold mine of out of context clips if you haven’t played them. “Why I can’t introduce kingdom hearts to my friends” is an all time favourite video of mine.
90% of the time the situation is much less concerning than the clip makes it seem, although it stays at least as weird - in many cases making less sense
Also it seems like some sound effects were added that weren't from the original?
Overall, there's much less death and injury than you would expect from these clips.

Never got that into JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, but if you're expanding your content out into anime, I think I know the perfect one to watch out-of-context clips from: Nichijou.
It's your typical wholesome high school "slice of life" anime... with a few twists (and by twists, I mean just some of the craziest, over-the-top scenes known to humanity). Nichijou is a comfort watch show of mine, so I highly recommend.
