If you are jamming a key or a scale it's easier than you might think. It's called chord chasing. Verses repeat and you can hear it in your head. They also likely missed several "right moments" but landed on a few that sounded sweet. Not all pieces fit into a specific key either which is why you need to know the chord and melody structure. This one is pretty easy to know where to land. Take a band like Metallica with 140bpm, changing key and time signatures and it gets more challenging- but still fun. One thing I know for sure is … John would fucking adore this. He’s a beast on the acoustic himself, but the melody of this song will stand the test of time, and he hit a (bitter)sweet spot with Slow Dancing. These virtuosos imbue a new beauty to it, and TE is just a legend, a gifted player. I don’t think JM has anything left to accomplish in music - played with everyone, and has had everyone play his stuff - the ultimate compliment.

Watching and listening to these 2 guys - I spend so much time checking out guitar gear, seeking to satisfy my GAS and I realise time would be much better spent practising. 2 acoustics plugged in, a touch of reverb - and amazing tone coming from their fingers and souls!! Aural bliss
