- Another Astra Twintop in for roof fault. Fairly rare 2.0 Turbo 200bhp in pearl green. Replaced wiring loom, common fault due to wires going hard and breaking.

Looks stunning in green! I’d love one of these.

Hi I have a 2004 astra g convertible soft top not doing anything push the button to open no sound, any advice please
Could you put the link to buy the new wires please?
Minute 6:02 poor car.. it's crying :'( / I'm also a twintop's owner, mine is working perfectly for now, BUT I'm getting prepared with some replacements for common issues, just in case I need them someday, I found that gear in bronce for the flaps on ebay, but I don't know where to find that wiring loom you pointed out in the boot, did you? Would you be so kind to leave a link to the item, please?
I really hope you can restore that issue, that car is sooo captivating, that green pearl OMG!
Best Regards from Spain! :)
Thanks for the vidoe.
I wonder if the wiring isn't the problem, what else could be the cause?
cogs of the flaps
@@pankeaux This. The nylon cogs can be replaced with brass ones if they wear/break. Just make sure you're good with the 3in1 oil and use the roof at least once a month to keep 'em moving.
@@EdgyNumber1 This is a rule of thumb, generally, not for only cogs. Anything you would had working/disassembled next year, move onece in a while. Controls, buttons, doors, AC (!), handbrake. Applies to human muscles and joints as well (: 3in1 oil not available here, closest is WD40 what is a temporal solution. For crucial mechanisms (like this or bike bearings) i use graphite grease, for the rest/lungnuts: lithium grease. Both dirt cheap, 2-3 EUR/0.5litre. For hard to reach or tight places: fine oil, For plastics (including bowden cases): silicone grease, for corrosion protection: bike chain spray. For door/roof rubber sealings: paraffine oil. Sorry for long comment (: took me a while to learn thiese
My daughter has a 2008 Twin top, first problem boot will not unlock , replaced boot catch still no joy. Spent £400 plus at Vauxhal garage , to be told it maybe the fuse box that has a fault to replace it total £1,200 ? Ok agreed to that . ( put the car back in again as they could not repair it at the time) now being told there is a problem with the wiring loom. Now quoting a four figure sum to sort the wiring out , on top of of the Fuse box cost if that is found to have a fault . She only paid £1, 700 for the vehicle , mileage around 56,000. She is at her wits end as to what to do, any advice would be helpful Thank you.
.
NIce video!
Could you Please share the Link to the Wire harness which you have replaced

Hello, do you have weels spacers in you Astra cabrio? Witch one? 16mm or 20mm? Thank you...
Hiya no it was completely standard from factory for the Turbo model. Cheers
Hi I'm have some problems with the roof please send me the link
Where are you based?
where can I buy this part, give me the name please
My dads got one what do you think of them
The 2.0T is a cracking car just a little expensive to tax. Ive had and sold about 4, they have their issues. I think the Pearl Met Green one was the nicest colour I have seen
I think that I will chase the broken wire as the part is now £225. How hard can it be?
Thats good for a temporary repair but the loom wiring goes brittle so its likley to end up chasing continuous breaks here and there. Good luck though.
Have you got the link for the company for the loom please thank you very much
Hiya I contacted them direct for a better price but their eBay item is this:- www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-VAUXHALL-ASTRA-TWINTOP-CONVERTIBLE-BOOTLID-WIRING-HARNESS-NEW-13256591/302435938748?hash=item466a9631bc:g:qBoAAOSwlY1ZMYLM
I checked both places, currently cheaper on Ebay @ £173.55 versus £189.99. Of course, both options are cheaper than Vauxhall, they charge £645. So Thanks for the link, I just bought one!
Hi do you have the website or know where I can get this loom
Had a quick look, all out of stock but part number is vauxhall astra twintop wiring harness 13256591

@@conceptrestoration1107 cheers
Would fix the roof for me on my twintop.
All the Twintops are going to be collectors' cars in future - even Tigra. Grab 'em whilst they're still cheap.
I have one of these which I love very much, would you be interested in repairing my roof? Please get in touch is at all possible. Thank you in advance 😊
Unfortunately we have too many projects going on atm to take in any work I'm afraid. All the best
No need wiring loom there is only small wires broken wich need replace and that's it no need replace full wiring lom
We have found that once they start to break and the wiring coating goes brittle it continues to be an issue, finding and fixing a broken wire is a temporary fix. The best and most reliable option is to replace the loom.
@@conceptrestoration1107 Kudos for taking the expensive route on a sales car. Many places would do a cheap repair and hope it outlasts the warranty.
@@buggs9950 Definitely, do it right do it once. Cheers buddy.
@@conceptrestoration1107 Absolutely. My place won't change brake fluid if it _looks_ okay..
540 pound road tax :(
£500 yearly £540 if over 12 months, shocking price when a VXR is cheaper to tax!!
@@conceptrestoration1107 yeah, good cars, but their tax band/dvla idiocies make it crazy to run. keyless entry and the associated computers can also be a faff, especially battery drain if it dont power off properly.
iirc they remap to somewhere round the 240hp range. does make a fun sleeper at traffic lights, against your average 320d/merc equivalent.
