    Nick, I can't thank you enough for your outstanding craftsmanship in rebuilding my hemi. (Also thanks for finding those loose lug nuts!) It was a pleasure meeting you and I look forward to coming up to pick up the car when you give me the thumbs up. This video will be playing continuously in my garage.(Nice camera work George!) While the final product of your work is amazing, the journey in getting here has been an even bigger reward for me. Glad it also brought back some good memories for you too!

    Nick, when you displayed the picture of your 71 Hemi Cuda, I finally realized that the Hemi Cuda I used to see near my home on St.Joseph and Park Ave back in the 80’s and 90’s may be yours.
    There was also a blue 70 Blue AAR, a 71 Boss351 and a black 67-68 firebird that I would also see every so often in my old neighbourhood around the same time.
    I fell in love with muscle cars back in the mid 70’s after Fernie and his white 73 Trans Am would do burnouts down Esplanade and Mount Royal to impress his girlfriend who lived in the same triplex as I did.

Those numbers plus adding the supercharger will make that Caddy fly. You just never know what you will see on Monday's video on Nick's Garage, the best channel on CZcams!!! I love all cars but am a GM guy as I grew up with the LT/LS cars, BUT MY DAD was a Mopar man through and through. I still have some of the RT, and Superbee emblems, as well as an original pistol grip shifter of his I get out to show my own kids from time to time, and my pictures of him in a 66 Charger. He had quite a few different Mopars but that 66 was beautiful. Im sorry about Barry, he left an amazing piece of cinema for us that will be watched for decades to come. Keep em smokin!

    Once a gear head always a gear head right nick ? I'm with ya brother. I'm nearly 63 years old and still enjoying acceleration and speed. My ride nowadays is a Yamaha FJR1300a. It'll hit 60 from a stop in under 3 seconds, and tops out at 154 mph. When I was a young guy my toy of choice was a 1981 camaro with a four speed. I bought it with 8000 miles on the odometer. It was a Berlinetta, but a four speed with a 305 small block. First thing I did was to yank out the wimpy 1981 305 and the Borg Warner T-10. I had an old 365 horsepower 327 that came out of a 1968 corvette. I found it at a local salvage yard. What luck ! The block had spider web cracks from having the watered downed coolant freeze in it. I bought the engine for a hundred bucks, stripped it, had it boiled, then I stop drilled each crack leg on the outside, and then arc welded from the inside to the outside of each leg. Then I bored the block. It didn't appear to have a lot of miles on it, so we bored it .010, went back in with a new set of stock forged pistons. My buddy use to work for a guy that, drag raced Chevy rat motors for years. I gave him the heads and he ported and polished those old double hump beauties, then rebuilt them with hardened seats, and stainless valves back up by double valve springs. I had a local speed shop check each rod, and then balance each piston and rod assembly.
    My camaro received Z28 leaf springs in the back, along with a modified 12 bolt rearend. I installed Lakewood traction bars to keep those leaf springs from letting the rearend windup and hop. The T-10 got swapped out for an old Muncie M21 that I bought from a guy. The tranny was broken when I bought it, in fact the input shaft had a slight twist in it. I'd given the guy $125 for the transmission, and I went through the whole thing, I think it ended up costing me about $700 all together, but it was better than new.
    I remember thinking how funny it was. I had a set of 3.23 gears in that rearend. It was a possy unit. The car had an 80 mph speedometer....... You can imagine how easily it got pegged. It did have a tachometer, and I drove the car from Peoria, Illinois to Las Vegas to go visit friends. I was going through Utah on long flat expanses of interstate highway. I opened it up one time and judging by the tach I hit 143 mph and it wanted to keep going. My tach was nearly pegged too. I had a set of Goodyear aramid fiber police duty tires on it. At the time I was working for a Goodyear tire store in Peoria, and we did tire and alignment service on the Illinois state police cars that were from a local precint. BTW, I had the opportunity to work on a late 70's (don't remember the year exactly), but late 70's Dodge Polara state police car. It had a 440 lean burn system, but a built cop car engine. The state cop told me "it seems like it's just falling on it's face over 90 mph. I ended up replacing the main coil wire and coil. The cop told me when I asked how fast it would go, he said, "I chased a kid down that was speeding on a Kawasaki motorcycle. I hit 126 mph".
    I really miss my old pony car, Nick. Enjoying your videos sir, Thanks.

    A B5 Blue Hemi Cuda Convertible and a Dyno test, a 2fr day! Putting it to the test and WHAA WHAA.....WHAAAAA! Damn, I gotta shiver down my spine! Another fine example of American Muscle from Nick's Garage.

    The E bodies do a great job of making wide front tires look at home in those wheel wells. This car is stunning! Thanks for a great video

    I never thought it would be possible but after 2 years of watching Nick's Garage there has been a slow transition from a hardcore GM guy to Mopar. Today the transition is complete. Is there subliminal messages going on in these episodes or what?

    I been on you about the LSX in the background. It's technically not Ls1 if it's an LSX which that block and heads is LSX if that's the one that been in the background....thanks nick and crew

  • @batman607
    @batman607 Před rokem +4

    The LSX must have the COPO spring in the oil pump because the red spring doesn’t build more than 60 lbs pressure hot. Been there done that. 👍👍🤓
