Congrats on 32 years of marriage! 😻 That is so wonderful! My husband and I never had children, but after we got our first kitten, we referred to ourselves as Mom and Dad when talking to it. After a few more years of marriage and a houseful of four legged 'off spring' my husband started calling me Mom all the time at home. It was actually nice. He said it in away that made me feel like queen of the house. It's the weekend everyone! Woohoo! I hope everyone has a good one. 💕
Same in our home. After first kitten, hubby became Papa & I'm Momma. That was over 20 years ago.
Did y'all see my earlier post? Maybe it's the cats having an effect on us all. 😄
Oh, and I also wanted to say that being a stay-at-home-mom and wife is the best career ever! I was blessed to be able to do it. It's weird now that everyone's grown and my husband is gone, it seems like I kinda wasted my chance at a "career"--but I know that's not the case. Sometimes self-doubts come in and try to convince me of that, but it's not the truth. There are things more important and more valuable than what other people think of us or how much money we were able to make.
I never had human kids. Just lots of fur & feather babies.
My husband started referring to me as Mama, when talking to our cats, for example. So, I in turn would refer to him as Papa when talking to them.
After awhile, he even started honoring me on Mother's Day. By then, we'd not only raised several litters of kittens, but now had a full menagerie in the back yard, which I lovingly referred to as our petting zoo. Everything we had was either miniature, or exotic.
When I asked about my first Mother's Day card, he matter-of-factly explained, "None of these animals would be here now if it weren't for the love & attention you give them each & every day. You ARE their mother!". Knowing how strongly he felt about his own (deceased) mother, I was touched to the point of tears & never questioned him about it again.
Anyway, after a few years of referring to me as Mama, he started actually calling me Mama on occasion.
We were still pretty young, but we were both a little old fashioned in our souls. I've heard numerous older men call their wives Mother. Not so much women calling their husbands Father.
I think it's out of fondness. A term of endearment, if you will. Husbands have long honored the maternal nature of their wives, and most men have great respect for their own mothers. So I think it's like a badge of honor men bestow upon their wives out of love, respect & admiration. I think it's sweet.
The simple life is an orderly and joyful life in spite of the hard work. Hanging laundry is such a wonderful thing to be able to do and yet some people are not allowed to hang it out in their City yards. There is freedom in this lifestyle and it has a cost but it is worth it. Thank you dear Tessie
I did enjoy spending the morning with you, Tessie! You are a wise and blessed woman. I never really wanted to work outside the home, but long story, I HAD to. Now that I’m retired, I’m much happier. The stress of the workplace was difficult for me, dressing up every morning, fighting traffic, being in an office all day with no windows, oh I yearned to be outside and just live simply. Thank you for sharing your daily life with us. ❤️
Good morning all! Have a wonderful weekend!
My lowest income days were the happiest days. My kids were little and close friends with each other. I was home with my babies and spent my days taking care of my family. My husband did as much as he could to take care of us. Those were my favorite days.
Your chickens look happy and friendly. My mom always had chickens.
I worked outside the home part time, but being home was my favorite. I homeschooled our boys, grew gardens, preserved food and kept house. I'm so thankful to have been able to do that! Hugs and blessings. ~ Denise
Tessie you are blessed Thank you for sharing your day. .hugs an love to you ..God bless
Love all your table clothes on your tables
Mrs. Tessie I am just so happy for you and your husband being married so long. Knowing you my friend has put joy in my heart.
Tessie you don't wanna be out in the working world. But every thing you do. Yes, you work just as hard if not harder at home. You are blessed in so many ways. What some wouldn't give to have your lifestyle ;) Happy 32nd Anniversary to y'all!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I agree. The working world can be a vicious nasty place full of evil..my last two jobs were the worst ever. Cussing, Blatantly denying Gods existence, sabatoging your work, I don't know what has happened to our country to make people so evil but I am glad to be able to be home and serve my husband and the Lord. I would never have dreamed growing up that I would be persecuted in our country for being a Christian.
Anna In Ohio.
🐯 Your chickens are cute. I really enjoy the little noises they make. There noises are calming. You have a good life
You are such a hard worker! Love the chickens! Beautiful sky! Prayers and hugs!
Always a joy watching your videos. Loved seeing the chickens. Thanks Tessie 💕✌️🌱
I love your lifestyle 🤗💕...I'm a single mom, work fulltime and try desperately to live like you....lol...Everything homegrown and homemade is the best. God bless you Tessie. 🙏💕
I’m 34 and for the last almost 15 years I’ve been a mum and stay at home mum .. I’m glad you are at peace and see the positives within it .. that’s how I hope I can feel soon ☺️

Good Morning, have a great weekend 🌞
What a beautiful life you have. I’m so very grateful you share your life with us. You have a good heart and soul. Love and Hugs Tessie❤️
She sure does ;)
aww Girls you are all so special to me !!
Tessie Congratulation's on 32 years of marriage. Good job cleaning your cupboards I do it often as well. I enjoy watching you care for your chickens they look happy to see you. We soon will be hanging laundry out as it gets warmer. Tessie I envy your life style you seem so happy and carefree. Both my parents worked my mom at first didn't work but had to later on and worked till she was 90. Now I take care of her as she has for me. I worked a lot of jobs over the years last job I had I was there 14 years I don't miss the rat race. I enjoy staying home working in the yard planting and enjoying the fruits of my labor. Mom does a lot too. My mom and dad just called each other by there first names mostly. We of coarse called them mom an dad. Still researching my German heritage and will be doing a DNA test soon. Tessie just want to thank you for all that you do for your kindness and understanding and love. I enjoy watching you go about your day you bring such joy to my heart. Love you my sister:) Blessings to you and Ken:) Always in my heart:)
Owen I totally agree with you. I hope you have a wonderful day! God bless!
Hi Owen sending you blessings and a hug for the day.
Congratulations on 32 years! My husband and I called each other Mama and Daddy. Now it's Grandmama and Grandpa! I love spending your day with you!!💖☺
Tessie , my Mom had the Blessing of staying home, but myself only the first 10 years of marriage did I have that pleasure, my first husband passed at age 44, so being a widow, I had to go into the workforce to raise my children. My Mom and Dad were my childcare, I thank God for all the years they were there to help me. I wished I had been able to continue to stay home , but that was not my destiny. I am still working at almost 70 years young. God has Blessed me mightily.
I have always enjoyed the simple life, said I was born 100 years too late. When I got married I thought I was Laura Ingalls Wilder. I worked full time but we had a huge garden and I learned how to can with help from my mother-in-law. My husband’s aunt taught me how to sew and I made all of my work clothes. I cooked every night after work and hung laundry on the clothesline. I’m going on 60 now (which is not old) and no longer sew or can but I love watching you do all the those things!
Linda I would have joined you 100 years ago !
Tessie you have become my newest CZcams friend. I love your honesty, simple living, and gentle ways.
What a Honor thank you ! AND welcome !! I am so Blessed by your words ! .I hope you continue to enjoy the channel !!
Thank you sweetie we all learn from you too. Much love xoxo
Good morning Tessie. All the little projects turn into one fulfilled day. I too am going to plants some seeds today. The snow is almost gone and I will be so excited to see some plants growing! Oh Tessie, being a wife, mother and grandmother and housekeeper is so much more fulfilling than working outside the home. I worked for 46 years outside the home and I wouldn't trade my retirement for anything. Sure, I miss the money, but I realized quickly that I am happier now than I was for those 46 years. I finally have time to do all the things, and learn all the things that I didn't have time for before. Congratulations on you upcoming anniversary!! God Bless and keep you safel
I loved hearing about your Life !
I'm glad you explained how people put too many seeds together. I did that with my tomatoes, so yesterday I replanted them in their own cup. CONGRATS on 32 yrs of Marriage. Tfs
Great Job!!!!
Well done Tessie🌻
Good morning Tessie I hope you have a tremendously blessed day!
Wanda Thank you !!!
Mom and dad is a family thing Tessie. My husband does that to. Us girls call each other sis or sissy. I'll always be mom, my son's friends all call me mom to- I love it. Hope your all staying dry, we've got alot of rain here in Missouri. The creeks are plum full. I'll see you tomorrow!
Congratulations on 32 years! Mines coming up to 38 years this month it’s work to be married but blessing also
I think now my life is a lot like yours, Tessie. Thanks for sharing.
I was fortunate to experience a varied life. Until I was 18, I grew up in a life style similar to yours Tessie. Being curious and wanting to experience another way of life, I joined the Navy. I met my husband and we got married at 19. At 21 I had my first child and had to get out of the Navy, my second child was born the next year. My husband decided to make a career out the Navy and we spent 20 years moving from place to place every two or three years. I loved the adventure of getting to know new places. I stayed at home with my children and am glad that I was able to raise them in my own way. After my husband left the Navy and my kids were grown I worked for a company for the same company for 21 years. When we both retired we traveled the country for three years in an RV until we grew tired of it. Now I am living in Florida in a mobile home, my husband passed away a few years ago and I miss my companion very much. My first 18 years of living simply on a small farm taught me valuable lessons, that I carried with me all my 77 years and especially now. I am grateful that I was able to accomplish what I wanted to do, even though we never had much money.
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL STORY !! I loved hearing about your Life !
Tessie, make yourself a sifter out of 1/8 or 1/4 galvanized wire mesh screening to sift out your chicken droppings from the wood chips, save the droppings and make a compost pile out of them. use the chips for mulch and do some research on chicken manure for the garden, or chicken manure tea, 😎
@Melissa Peltier 😊
You were so blessed to be a stay at home wife and mother, Tessie. I had two sons and I wanted to stay at home with them so so bad but I couldn’t, I had to go back to work and it broke my heart. Fortunately though I had my mother and father to babysit for me and that relieved my mind a lot but I worked for 30 years. I still wish I could have stayed at home like you all these years later. ❤️
Roseanne your comment is so amazing !!
I'm watching this at 10 15pm in Oregon. What a peaceful end to my day. I love your simple life. It's inspired me to go simpler and I'm becoming happier and healthier for it. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to share with us Tessie.
Tessie I have been rewatching your playlists for 3 days now! You inspire me to live the greates frugal life I can live. I wish we lived closer I am In Georgia a few miles from you. you are a part of my life a great friend.
I worked for 40 years. The Rat Race for sure. I missed out on a lot of things. I'm 65 now and I work 3 days a week the rest of the week I'm a city Homesteader. Im leaning a lot from you Tessie. I've learned less is more.
Yes my husband and I called each other mom and dad while our kids were young, now we call each other grandma and pawpaw 😍😁
Congratulations on 32 years of marriage soon. Have a wonderful weekend too! You are such a busy bee. You inspire & motivate! Thanks Tessie!
Your videos are always interesting. You are a very skilled and resourceful person. A wonderful home maker.
Thank you so Much Alex !!
Congratulations on 32 years coming up!!!!
Beautiful picture of the sky. Busy busy busy. You never stop. Congratulations on your soon to be 32 years of marriage. I wish I could of been a stay at home mother. I do agree the best things in life you cannot buy. It is in our family that our parents called each other Mom and Dad and now it's Grandma and Grandpa. Nice video Tessie. Be blessed always!
You have a heart of gold Tessie which is far more precious than any fancy lifestyle. and you bless me every day! I love you girl! God bless you and your family. :)
looks happy to me Tessie! I would say your life is enviable =)

Yes, I'm blessed to be a housewife! Like many have said we called each other mom and daddy as the kids were growing up and we still do however now we have the grandkids and it's papa and Oma. Yes, the daily chores help keep things busy around this old homeplace
Yes you are blessed Tessie, I learned as I got older, is that money sure can’t buy happiness or health. I’m a 2x cancer survivor and I feel blessed everyday that I’m still here with my family and friends💕

My grandmother and grandad called each other mom and dad (the other girls in the family were sis and the boys were bub). From Oklahoma; he was Cherokee Indian and she was Irish.
My great granddad was Cherokee in Sapulpa, OK. I found second cousins there a few years back. --Denise
@@rayanddenisemckinney1038 I am right in that area ❤️......as in when I do grocery shopping, the nearest place is Sapulpa, lol.
Stayed up late to watch basketball with family. Don’t work so hard. It’s makes the rest of us look bad. I ran the sweeper in the living room today and had to take a nap. Lol Have a great day.
Darlene you are to cute !!!!
Amen! LOL
Hi Tess, working out was never as full filling as being home with my family! Beautiful picture of the sunset!!! My husband and I have called ourselves mother and dad for many years. I miss hanging out laundry, I need to do that again. Wonderful videos!!!
Thank you !!!
Cant wait to hang my wash again :) I loved being a stay at home mom and taking care of my home. Good for you
Tessie I never thought about leaving the lid on the chopper when I pour the ing. out such a great idea.
I didn't think of that either! I will from now on though. Thanks Tessie!!
I love your simple life and Thanks for sharing it with all of us!
Thank You so much !
Congratulations on 32 years of marriage. You are very lucky to be able to stay at home and take care of your family. Was my culture too. Unfortunately I married young a not so nice guy, ended up pasta to get a divorce. Now I work full time. Take care of a home myself. It is not easy. But I really enjoyed staying home and taking care of my family miss those days.
That laundry soap was a great idea!
Good morning Tessie,I got one of those cupboard clutters. funny how fast it can happen.anything that was in a box, crackers and such I put in a jar . thanks for sharing your morning with us friend
Same here, Tessie! 😎
Tessie, my Grandma and Grampa called each other Mamma and Daddy. they were Herman
German
Lol I was going to ask you respectfully what is Herman.
I enjoy talking with you while you do your morning chores. As for me you are missing nothing by being a stay at home mom. I have been both. I like to tell people that I have hermit in my soul. I do still call my husband dad and he does call me mom. I am from WV. We have a bit of old-fashionedness in our culture, also. Have a blessed weekend.
You aren’t missing anything from the rat race of modern life, it’s stressful at times and not fulfilling at all. But I try to find things to make my life more grounded mixing modern with old fashion ways. Btw my husband is from Cuba and he calls me Ma or Mama too. Happy Anniversary!
Good morning Tessie! My husband and I call each other daddy and momma. So do our parents. I’ve been a stay at home mom my whole marriage. I worked just a few years after graduating high school not enough to gather social security at retirement age. I’m thankful for the life God has blessed me with!!! Hope you have an amazing weekend!
I love your videos, I think you're terrific Tessie! I learn and gain so much on your channel.
Thank you so much !!!!!
@@HomesteadTessie You're welcome Tessie, my pleasure.
Hello sweet Sis, congratulations and Happy Anniversary to you and Chevy Man on 32 years, my husband and I will celebrate 43 years in July. Been together almost 47, as we were high school sweethearts since the age of 13, do you ever think wow where did all those years go? It certainly sneaks up, but I would do it all over again. I love the interaction with your chickens mine are so petted, I feed them some bread that has been left over, they don’t want to eat it off the ground I have to hold it and let them eat. My children got them for me last Mother’s Day with everything to raise them up, I must say it’s one of the best gifts they ever gave me, because it just keeps giving. They give me joy everyday and the eggs are a plus. Enjoyed sharing your day, blessings, much love 💕💕
Thank you so Much for your Beautiful Comment Love you !
I will be married 30 years on December 2nd. That blows my mind. I call my Hubby - Dad if I'm talking with my son. I like the idea of making laundry soap from leftover bars of soap. I hope you have a great weekend.
another amazing video Tessie 🦃 so inspirational 😊 thank you so much for sharing your wonderful life 🌈🌈🌈🌈
I really enjoy watching all the cooking and cleaning.children this day and age need to be taught what you are showing. I was clicking videos and came across you'rs Thank You.
I always hit the like button and watch the ads for Tessie!
Thank you that does mean a lot to me I know not everyone does Even a few who do helps me so Much
You truly are blessed to have lived the way you do because there is coming a day that we all need to be self sufficient and many will not be able to adjust to the hard and simplicity of not being able to use the modern technology of today. I don't know if I worded that correctly but I believe you understand what I am trying to say. Xoxo Tessie 💟
Mari I totally agree with you!
I love jar storage too
I ve never been married but I only remember my folks calling each other sweetheart , honey and dear . And of course by their names .
You are fortunate to have been able to be home with your family.
I have always had to work, but I am a traditional woman. I enjoy all these things. Cooking, baking and such.
Congratulations on being married for so many years!
That is a testimony in these times
Wow, thank you
Just ordered my Avalon spinner dryer . My washer was just not spinning the water out like it used to . Love how you teach us how to live off grid .
Bless you my friend you will enjoy using it !!
Good morning Tessie, glad you are having sun. More days of sun and more planting. I think calling one's mate mom or dad is sort of universal. At least in the South.
Oh, and thanks for reminding me I have to start seeds this weekend. I start many tomato and pepper seeds, because I usually lose about half of the plants, it can get so cold up here that the plants just die overnight even covered and they can't be saved. I hope to save seeds this year of some heirloom varieties they may be more suitable for my area.
Hi Tessie! Thanks for another great video! ❤️
You videos are such a blessing to me and I know to others! Take care and you are loved!
Tessie------things have calmed down here and its nice to watch your videos again.....when my parents divorced it was very messy ( over 20yrs ago) and I have 3 sisters that we haven't spoken in 20yrs....well Praise God we have re-connected after my mothers passing ( last week) and its almost like we are kids again we laugh and talk its a good start
Russ continued prayers for you ..I know it is so hard !!!
My husband and I called each other ma and dad. We had 8 kids so ma and Dad was what we said. We had 38 great years together. He went to be with the Lord 13 years ago. My kids still call me ma . And when they speak of him they say dad. I did work outside the home but most of the time I drove a school bus so my kids were with me a lot. Their dad and I shared the house work and the child care. He worked very hard in a factory and many time had a second job or worked lots of over time. We were a team. As the kids got older they had chores and help us. I wouldn’t have changed it for the world. I am retired now and spend lots of time with my children , grandchildren and great grand babies! Life is good. I am called Grammy by my family and many other children that I have come to love . Life is good and love makes a family! Love you Tessie! God has blessed us both. We have different life styles but God’s love has made us sisters.
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL STORY !! I loved hearing about your Life !
👋😊
You are wealthier than most. You know how to live.I admire that.
Tessie I put 2 cloves of garlic in my chickens water it helps with mites and a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar 3 times a week its good for there digestive system I thought I would pass this along to you
